from 1st listen i was so disapointed and now havin listen many a time it is growing on me, wont be d best on album by far i reckon, dont judge till d album is released on my bday. great present!!
Lets hope the fat man Bono doesn't sell this one out like Vertigo. That dang commercial ruined the song. Beautiful day was done perfectly. Stay true to your roots, man!

what complete garbage. U2 are just a marketing machine and a vehicle for Bono's height-related ego problems. Even their 'experimental' work sounds formulaic. Jesus, how embarrassing can they get..The sound of a collective mid-life crisis. And then theres the album tie-in with Obamas inauguration..so thats why they put the album release forward by a year. Bono the hypocritical, fat old man and Obama the wolf in sheeps clothing. They're gonna save the world..just like JFK and The Beatles.
Vertigo was terrible Elevation or what ever the fuck its called was rubbish, i miss the LEMONS the ONES and the BEATUFUL DAYS last 2 albums were TERRIBLE.
Okay I'm a HUGE U2 fan, I mean I own all their music, their U2 iPod and I even danced on stage with Bono before! But Sexy Boots??? The song is okay and catchy but it would be better with out the Sexy Boots part in my opinion. The rest of the album better be good. I still Love you BONO =)
Like all great U2 openers, you don't know whether you like it or not straight away. It takes a good few listens, which is always a good sign. Lets hope I will feel the same way about this as I did about Zoo Station, or Vertigo after 20 or 30 listens.
I've listened to the song about 12 times now and with every listen I am liking it more. With the first listen I was a bit confused and didn't know what to think. Now I really like it. Tomorrow, after another dozen listens I'll probably think its a classic.
U2 is the best damn band in the whole universe, but they have really fucked up this one... I really hope that other songs on the album are nothing like this one...
Greetings from Croatia, you could step by for day or two during the tour... =)
Gah! You think "Vertigo," "Day" and "Desire" are great U2 premiere singles?! Ugh, I don't know where to begin! All three are the weakest singles U2 have released, if not recorded altogether.
Great first singles? "Fly," "Numb," "Pride," and "With or Without You" were all bold statements and great songs.
As for "Boots?" A step in the right direction. More toward their "Achtung"/"Zooropa" creative, colorful highs. "All..." and "Bomb" were compromised, populist efforts. Weak at best.
Um... No. That's not what I said. But, if you are itching terribly to lambaste "Boots," (and not engage in the simple act of reading) then you'll pretty much say anything and fill anyone's mouth with words they didn't say.
It's a pop song, 19... By definition, they're never "complete shite." There's always someone who will like it. In this case, I think "Boots" is promising. We'll see about the rest of the album. "Vertigo" certainly wasn't representative of the passive "Bomb."
Bye IamNewMusic, we are all entitled to our opinions and i gave mine, there are much worse comments on this than mine, why not go bother them instead, or better still celebrate Baracks day, finally you have a decent president
Oh, I got more! Mild, timid, meek, scattered, unfocused and cautious. "Bomb" was the sound of a band stepping carefully after winning some audience back to the fold.
My main problem is that single wore off quickly and the rest of the album was overloaded with mid-tempo fluff ("Crumbs," "Man," "Miracle," Sometimes,") and some of the worst songwriting in their cannon ("Yahweh.")
"Boots" seems to be repaying repeat listening. It's dense and layered. I'm holding out hope for "No Line..."
People seem to be in denial that bono's voice has gone. Very average song. They have not released a great album since 'achtung baby'. Even 'the joshua tree' was overrated, good though it was.
I like it a lot!! I think that is a strong music and well made...great sound...fuzz and distortion on bass and guitar and a beautifull "alternative" riff. U2 are evolving with the "new music" and i can´t wait to ear the new album and live tour...they are showing that u2 isn't just about ballads, they are a rock band and the know how to do the best rock and continue to be an influence to new bands... Cheers!
It has the same nature as all their most innovative albums - meaning you're wondering do you actually like it. To answer the question for yourself, you play it over and over...and over. You realize you hate the damn thing. A few hours later, you try it again and it's instant love *L*
I don't like it. It is a great idea and well made, but still sucks, as much as I love U2, this song really blows. It is notorious the influence of progressive rock guitar (sgt. pepper's... likeish) and a new rock tendency in the chorus (sounds like muse) but still the lyrics are disappointing and it's not worth waiting 4 years for. Let's still wait for the complete album to be released, maybe the whole needs to be heard to understand this song, which is not poor but it is not good
To be honest, I liked it at first listen. But the more I listen to, the more I dislike it. U2 should retreat before becoming The Stones and keep their legendary status intact. Come on seriously, can you imagine Bono with 20 pounds overweight sing that kind of scat-rap on a stage???
Already Luv it after the second listen. Has Elvis Costello "Pump it up" synchopated lyrics influence, & Beatlesque harmonizing chorus, gr8 bass groove & gr8 fuzzed-out guitar playing by The Edge very similar to Vertigo with more depth...It's U2 & it's Brilliant!!!
I am a huge U2 fan...like obsessive! still, not sure how I feel about this yet. I like the bass line. I think it will grow on me. I bet once we get a video I'll get a better sense of it.
Sounds like a combo of "Discoteque" and Queens of the Stone Age. Mediocre, but I expect the rest of the album to be better.

A mix of Vertigo and Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me...don't you think?
By the way, 'lonkylaine', Bono has lost weight, stopped smoking and is at his best.
