I do a quite a bit of bow hunting, reality is though guns have been around for a lot of years. My step dad (dad to me) carried a 38-55 Winchester lever most of his life. He told me never go in the bush without your rifle & never lean it on a tree & take a crap unless you can reach it! I have experiences to believe him. Cougars scare me period. I doubt coming out late as I often do or in early or for that matter a lot of the time in thick stuff a person can react in time to get a shot off.
The only cougar I have seen was right after I found a poached elk that someone shot out of season and took the head. I walked a little and down below me a hundred yards or so was a cougar chasing something across a little clearing (probably a rabbit). I don't know if he knew about the elk above him or not but I have heard they wont scavenge. I don't know if thats true but it was pretty neat. I looked over my shoulder the rest of the day.
If you check out my web site, in my blog section I have a photo of a cougar kill I found a few days ago. There wasn't much left but it deffenetly made me feel a little uncomfortable walking around, especially with no gun.
I checked out all your videos and they're all really good. I have never rattled in a cougar or anything else for that matter. I can seem to get bucks to come to a grunt call but not rattling.
Cool..

Most of the cougars I see hang out at the Holiday Inn bar and are only attracted to the undergrads out getting a drink.
