too bad you cant show the opening. you need to find her 2 record set and hear how her voice changes. when i was a kid, this 2 record set was at the library. when I played it then, i was confounded by what is funny about this. VICTOR BORGE RULES also!!!
Anna Russell is a true comedienne! I was lucky enough to see her in concert at The Savoy in London when I was very small. If, like me, you are a Gilbert and Sullivan fan, check out Anna's rendition of How to Write your own Gilbert and Sullivan it is absolutely hilarious and she sings ALL the parts herself. What a great lady, what a sad loss. Long live Anna!
I played piano at her last birthday party (shared with Deidre, who was her friend for god knows how many years)... She was quite adamant that all musicians have "got to learn to play the piano!". Her mind wasn't quite what it was (pardon the cliche!), and she had lost a lot of weight- you could tell that her health was declining. Still, she was one of those great old ladies who don't talk for too long and are actually really interesting.
Fantastic! "I'm not making this up, you know!" And the terrible truth is she isn't and it fits perfectly into about any business especially her last lines...
Anna Russell wrote the book that most of us can't even read yet... She was one of a kind, brilliant, talented, in love with the music she so wonderfully mocked, and a sheer joy to listen to. Can you imagine a concert with her and Victor Borge? That would be SOMETHING... :)
fabulous!
