great upload! I spent years renting the book out from the library in the 80's- week after week and only a little while ago I managed to get my hands on the original book. I'm going to order this re-issue as I heard its got additional art and text! probarbly the best book in the whole world haha.peace.

I have the first edition that came out in 1982. I know that this version possibly has some added material, but I just loved the size and layout of the original. And to think I actually tried to sell it at a yard sale for a quarter (I found it years later with the little round yard sale sticker on it that said $.25). Whoa.

They finally announced earlier this month that the sequel, The Power of the Dark Crystal, is underway in Australia, and will be a 3D production incorporating puppetry and CGI. Did you hear? =D I found out through IMDB!!

@astoriastudio in the early 80s i would check this book out all the time from the library and was just amazed as a kid the amount of detail that wasn't addressed in the movie. their names, for instance. and the fact that this book was like supposed to be a naturalist's notebook.

The whole spiritual thing .. not that the dark crystal is my religion.. lol, but almost.

the ending scene when the wise beings tell Jen that we are all part of eachother.. thats really all one needs to realize..

Wow. Just a book with that enchanting music in the background is absolutely mesmerizing. The movie was and still is a great masterpiece. Thank goodness we didn't have CG back then.

Wow, I didn't know the 25th anniversary edition of the book had a new little booklet inside. I have the original edition of the book, the one that came out in 1982 or 1983--the one with the Skesis on the cover.

The sketches for the book, were done by the man who conceived the characters, world, and settings for the film. He basically helped to shape the overall form and feeling of the film, and the book was made to be a companion to the film. :)

if i had to guess, either amazon or ebay. it might be a stretch, but powells might have it as well. they specialize in mostly out of print books, prices are pretty good too.
