  • If it says first edition in my book does that make it a first edition? i have the one with harry and ron on the cover

  • @maplestoryman77 If it is a UK edition book then yes if it says "First edition" then it is a first edition. The US editions say "First American edition" on every coppy with the first edition date listed even if it was printed 3 years prior so in the US edition you can rely on it so you have to refer to the number line. Which one do you have?

  • @maplestoryman77 Is it the blue Chamber of secrets UK edition? if so then yes it is a First edition.

  • @eviltig it is blue with green writing on the cover and harry and wrong are flying the car on the front

  • @maplestoryman77 It should be a 1st edition then, thats the UK book of the Chamber of Secrets. I have that copy in hard cover but its a 21st printing

  • @eviltig ok thank you for your help! :)

  • Did any harry potter book collection come with bookmarks? Its very important that I find a certain bookmark with fluffy on it. If anyone knows anything about a bookmark like that please please inbox me.

  • @mebested I dont have any info on the bookmarks, I hope you have luck finding the one you are looking for.

  • Thanks for the info.

My edition of the book is all black cover and spine. On the copyright page I have no printing numbers.. Mine has no printing under where it says printed in the US..

    What book do I have?

  • @smbonna You have a book club edition. the main sign is no numbers on the copyright page but also the black boards is a book club sign too. I think I have a video up of the book you are talking about

  • my book has 10 9 8 7 9/9 0/0 1 2 3 4 below that it says Printed in the U.S.A. 37 and thats it what does that mean? it does not have the edition/date printed on it

  • @lilfairynthesky tHE 10 9 8 7 Means it is the 7th printing. The 9/9 means 1999 the year it was printed, the 0/0 1 2 3 4 are there for later year printings so when they start printing it in 2000 they remove the 9/9 and the line will be 0/0 1 2 3 4. The 37 is the print facility number, each print facility has a number like 37, 52, 12 and this number will let you know where it was actually printed.

  • i want that wand

  • Question: I recently purchased The Sorcerer's Stone, the titles are raised on the the cover, colored first page (green), diamond impression on the hardcover (maroon and purple). What sort of edition is the one that I have? All the books from 1-7 are listed on the back of the first page after the green page.

  • @phaniepack123 You have a later edition of the retail HardBack version. Look on the page that has all the information and near the bottom there will be a series of numbers most likely it will it will be high numbers like in the 30's. It may have a few numbers like 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 or it could have just one or two numbers like 40 39 38. the lowest number is the print run. The numbers to the right will be the year like 09 would be 2009 11 would be 2011 etc etc

  • @eviltig

Thanks for the information. :) You cleared it up.

  • @WandProdigy I did know the Philosophers stone had a number line and later books would simply say first edition but I didnt know what book they switched it on, Thanks!!

  • Hey, I've got a question. I might have a Book Club edition of the Chamber of Secrets, however there are several differances between yours and mine. My COS is about 1 inch shorter than the normal versions, it doesn't have the number 2 on the jacket spine or the book spine, and inside, there's no blue or anything, it's just plain black. And on the spine, it doesn't have the 'Harry Potter font', just a plain font. Do you think you could help me with what I've got here? Thanks much :D

  • @NoobTwinz5 Also whats interesting is Chamber of Secrets and Sorcerer's stone both had issues with the number not on the spine of the first few print runs but all the other books had numbers from the start so COS and Sorcerer's Stone book club edition usually dont have the numbers either but the book club edition of Prisoner of Azkaban with the black cover is missing the spine number also which is kinda cool but then my black goblet of fire has the number. I might do a video on the POA book club

  • So I gotta a question about First UK Editions, how would you be able to tell if it is a real first edition from the first printing?

  • @LinkinParkFan303 The UK Bloomsburg copies are much easier, if it says "First edition" then its a first.

The second print run does not carry the First edition print on it. I have one here I may shoot a quick video.

  • @eviltig : Funny thing is, I have a "first edition" copy of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of azkaban, but it lists all the books up to book 5. This must be a misprinted second edition. It's totally legit though.
