The PMDG B747 is a great add-on.

Flying the heavies on your own can be a challenge though.

That's why I use voice control add-on called "Multi Crew Experience"(for which a Demo is available). I don't have to struggle with dialling speed, altitude and heading when my hands are tied on manual approach. You'll need a headset with microphone in order to experience the thrill of voice control.

1.this is a mod 747 (PMDG) not the default 747

2. If you know that but you don't know how to get the wipers to work in pmdg 747 look in the manual. I can say you that you need to find two buttons on you overhead pannel.

@fgcarva1 im not using FSX either, im still using FS2004. You should get this plane only if you are interested in reading the manuals on how to operate the plane. PMDG makes some complex aircraft and it requires that you are patient and willing to take time to learn them. It all depends on if you are comfortable in flying complex planes that are close to their real world counterpart, or if you prefer standard, easy to use FS planes.

@TheSkyIsTheLimit1000 I'm not entirely sure about that, as i still use FS2004, but i belive i have read somewhere that the team are working on a new "airports of Norway" scenery that's supposed to be for FSX.

I recommend you try and google it, it's be best advice i can give you at this time.

Remember this scenery was originally made for FS2002, and it's age is showing, but it's still the best freeware (only Bergen (ENBR) are made as payware scenery from Cloud9, for both FS2004 and FSX)

The scen ery i use is a freeware pack that includes all of the main norwegian airports, called Norway airports. It is a bit outdated, but still the best package available for Flightsim 2004.

And no, i'm not a real life pilot at all, i have learned flying the plane by doing some reading in the manual, combined with tutorial flights. Even today i learn new things in this plane.. it is truly amazing :)

Just have fun while learning it :)

At touchdown i have about 10 degrees nose up pitch, as the first wide line is at 10 degrees, and the nose don't go beyond that before or at touchdown. Just take a look at the PMDG 747-400's HSI for yourself :)

Depends on your computer. The PMDG has a ton of options, but it is a framekiller. MD-11 is nice, but not my favorite airplane. Altrough, they both good.

I'm well aware that SAS don't use any B747's, but this is a flightsimulator and everything is possible there. Who says you have to do everything in a flightsim as it is in real life?

As for the norwegian sounds, it's a voice pack i downloaded years ago, along with some german + english voice packs for FS Passengers.

PMDG have pretty much every system and functions in the 747-400 simulated. It's as close to the real life aircraft as possible.

I have never tried the perfect flight 747, so i can't speak on how much is simulated it is, but to me it seems t be a bit out dated.

There is another freeware fully simulated 747-400 that's called the iFly, but the panel and model in general is not that good looking

No, in some aircraft it differs a little - some aircraft have a fixed landing gear for example.

You're actually supposed to lower the landing gear in a 747 at 3,000 feet, but again, some pilots lower it sooner, or sometimes later, depending on the weight, etc.

So, you're wrong.

depending on weight some times they are asked by ATC to stay faster than normal. putting landing gera down at high speed is a bad idea.

however they are also asked to go slower to, so gear down will help them slow down.

Were you flying on VATSIM? Cause I also use FSINN's GPWS, and it tells the altitude 10 feet before the actual! Ex. "600ft" is called out at 610ft, so it's GPWS and my plane's GPWS dont sync, so I turn off one of them.

No, i was not flying on VATSIM, neither do i use FSINN, i use Squawkbox for all my VATSIM flights :)

The reason for the double callouts was because i didn't turn off FS Passenger's callout sounds, so with the PMDG's callout sounds i got double callouts.

I use TrackIR which implements my real head movement into the 3D virtual cockpit, so all i did was to move my head around.

TrackIR is a hardware addon and is not freeware. I recommend you to take a look at naturalpoint's web site for more info

Oh wait you,re right ya the real pilots use the speed brakes some times to slow the plane down, they just don't set it for full. They set it more like 40%. Thats pretty detailed for fs2004 at Gardermoen, do the jetways move up to connect to the plane ?

I would say this plane is worth the money, it's just as good, if not better than the level D 767, but this plane is more resource demanding than  the Level D 767.

So if you have a low-end computer you may get some performance problems. other than that it's a great aircraft, vcertainly the best 747 addon out there at the moment :)

Another thing when you are on approach or ever flying in midair you should never apply the spoilers to slow the plane down. Use the flaps or decrease throtle!

This airport is part of a complete norwegian airports package, which contains all major airports in norway. Unfortunately it's not made for FSX yet, but i know it's in development.

Currently it's only available for FS2004 though.

As for using the flaps to slow down.. well, that's a bad idea. Using the flaps as brakes can be very dangerous, and that's why you use spoilers if the airspeed is rising

i have this pmdg add on and its installed, but when im on fsx and i try to turn for example it does turn, but it dosent show it, so for example when i use the rudder, i cant actually see the rudder moving on the plane, and when i do flaps, the flaps do take effect but it dosent show it, so its like its a photo image and what ever i do takes effect but isnt showed
