They most likely removed the light during its construction, probably to fit something in. I would totally want this if it didn't require the psp to be specially modded to use it, it just seems like the whole process would be way more expensive than I can afford. Sony should have just included all the necessary ps2 buttons/sticks to begin with...

@sdutango, Because each one goes to a custom made port that intercepts each control set, i.e: one cable sends analog signals respectively for each thumbstick, the others for the different sets of buttons. Also, the ports on the device were custom-cut into the case and wired to the motherboard to the areas where they would intercept the appropriate signals. Cheers!

This might work but the right thumb stick still only works like the buttons do (either on or off) its not analog like the left thumb stick is. its nice and all but you lack analog functions of the thumb stick (think of the D pad with a nub on it).
