GREAT VIDEO! I am the unluckiest person with regards to electronics and i did the change with the help of this video! its awesome! highly recommended thanks guys! great help
If I was able to replace the screen on my 3G from your videos a few years ago, do you think I will be able to complete this on my 4? I am nervous because there are so many more parts and screws... Also when I replaced my screen on my 3G one time when I powered the phone back on there was a blank white screen. Do you know what I did wrong to make the screen go white? Thanks!
@plkieffer Yes you should be able to do the screen on the 4 just keep track of the screws. The white screen on the 3G means that one of the 3 cables did not get installed all the way to make a connection.
So simple but ran into two small problems (my fault) I didn't feed the ribbons for the screen all the way through and i didn't connect the antenna properly so i had no service when turned on but in the end was successful.
This is a great, clear tutorial. Thank you so much.
I looked at a couple of other ones before trusting this re-assembly video tutorial.
My smashed screen left some splinters which I had to remove. There was a little rubber bar which fell out but re-seated on the L-shape of the mother board where the two screen ribbons fold over. I also had a dust screen which I removed. Thank you, thank you thank you for your guidance. MUCH APPRECIATED!
Good tut! But i got a question: On the back of my (and your) new LCD, glass and digitizer, there is this blue plastic cover. I see you reassembled your iPhone with the plastic cover on. I thought this was to protect from any fingerprints, dust etc, and that you were to take it off?
As the old LCD did not have the same blue cover on, i thought you were supposed to take the plastic off. Why didn't you? Perhaps it doesn't matter, but would someone mind explaining?
how fast you can reassemble it? when iPhone4s were produced It must have taken very long, because every piece have to reassemble by man, NOT robot! and That 's why it costs loads of money
Big thank you for the instructions. It took me some time to complete (I realised that the screen ribbon didn't go through all the way so had to start from scratch, then realised I mounted the MoBo incorrectly and started all over again), but it worked a charm.
Thank you for your instructions, it gave me confidence to do it myself. I forgot to remove the blue plastic protection matthewcarter153 mentioned. Hope it won´t melt or something. I´m not going to tear it down again. Plus I ended up with a little part and a screw. No clue where to put it. Everything works though. Thanks again!!
@matthewcarter153 If you are referring to the shipping plastic that come with it yes. But they do not always ship with a blue one and sometimes none at all. This is why we do not reference it in the video.
I had someone else replace my LCD and the home button isn't sitting the way it's supposed to be - if you look at the phone from the side, the home button is slanted downwards. Can I fix that myself or should I just leave it alone?
@dissentiment You might be able to fix that yourself. I do not know how technical you are so I can not answer that question 100% correctly. If you had someone fix it for you and they did not do it correctly I would go back to them and have them correct it.
@pdaparts Thank you for answering my question. I might be able to do it on my own; if not, my husband has way more experience dealing with electronics. How much disassembly would be required? Thanks again.
@akapoop06 If you purchased the screen from us please contact us directly via the webpage with an order number and we can look into this for you. We do have a warranty on all our parts. If you did not order from us I suggest checking the cables to make sure they are all connected or you got a less superior part from someone which is why we only carry top quality parts.
@ducezFULL I think you are referring to the clear plastic we have on the screen during shipping? If that is correct then yes pull it off. We want to make sure you get the screen in perfect condition. Thanks for the post DirectFix-com
@jampaalb On the iPhone 4 You can not just repair the Touch Panel and You can not repair just the LCD. You have to replace the complete screen as one unit. Take a look at our blog for more details on this and the ebay scam of people selling just the touch panel or just the LCD for the iPhone 4. DirectFix com/blog

@Nicholaeszander96 The blue plastic on the back can be removed before install. It is just on there to keep scratches and dust off during shipping.
