Ed Reed is playing in an era where three quarterbacks can throw for over 5,000 yards in a season. I think that Paul Krause is the best all time, and Ed Reed is the best cover safety in the league, at the moment.

Personally I would have made two seperate list, one for safeties and one for cornerbacks. Overall its a good list though. The only one I didnt see on there that I would argue would be Polamalu.

@CarolinaPanther343, Ronnie Lott is unquestionably the greatest safety of all time. Period, no debate. Mel Blount wasn't dirty for his day, much of the PI rules didn't come about into about half way through his career. But I'd agree his value is a little skewed.
Deion is not, nor should he be, number one because yeah, he could intercept, he could shut receivers down, but he was still extremely limited. Any CB who literally cannot tackle, at all, does not deserve #1, no matter what.

@TAXENGINEER He played safety for most of his carrer stupes! He had 6 pro bowls and 6 first team all-pros at while playing both free and strong safety. So I think he was alright as a safety. He only played CB for his first 4 season which he also got 4 pro bowls and 2 first team all-pros. This is why he's number 1 on this list and most other top 10 lists as well, because he dominated at every defensive backfield postion. Learn about football before you open your mouth.

Jack Tatum was known only for his headhunting, not for his skill at the position, hence why he is not in the hall.
Deion should be tied with Ronnie Lott. Though he didn't hit, Michael Irvin said it best, "Deion isn't paid to hit, he is paid to shut down half of the field.'

Not sure who I'd put at CB, though I probably wouldn't argue with Deion. That does pain me in a way to say that since he was such a primadonna.
At safety, I'd put Kenny Easley at #1, even though injury and kidney failure did shorten his career.

mel blount is the best ever PERIOD... he gets over shadowed because of his team but they changed the rules because of blount...chris collinsworth still has nightmare about him.. and steve atwater, honerable mention...pfffff 8 time pro bowler!!!! same a deion... only had half the INTS deion had but 3 times as many tackles! deion gets a pass by too many cuz he was a return man buts irrelevant to who the best DB;s are

Jack Tatum was known only for his headhunting, not for his skill at the position, hence why he is not in the hall.
Deion should be tied with Ronnie Lott. Though he didn't hit, Michael Irvin said it best, "Deion isn't paid to hit, he is paid to shut down half of the field.'

Why in the hell was Deion Sanders shown in a yucky Dallas Cowboys uniform...it should've been the Atlanta Falcons uniform where he played in his prime years, he only played a couple of years for the funky ass Dallas Cowboys. I can't stand the Cowboys. Another reason Rod Woodson should've been over Deion for that photo in a suck ass Dallas Cowboys uniform. Steelers fans hate Dallas Cowboys if you haven't known. LOL

Rod Woodson had the speed like Deion plus he could hit hard like Ronnie Lott. It's hard to do both and he was exceptional on both ends. Deion Sanders he wasn't known as a hitter just a cherry picker. LOL Running backs would bulldozer Deion's ass! Barry Sanders my favorite running back being one of them. LOL Deion had speed but no strength. Rod Woodson had both. Go Steelers.

Bobby Boyd looks underappreciated to me. 57 interceptions in only 8 or 9 seasons. Wow. Pretty impressive. It took Mel Blount 13 years to get that many.
