  • Great video!

I´m thinking to swap the stock pots in my 94´ LP for 500K pots. Are you try with 500K both volume & tone?

  • hi Matt, one of the best blues-videos on YT ! such a great tone ! raw & vital ! cut down to the essential notes in your own style !!! thank you for that ! LES greets from berlin/germany

  • What was the PU in the bridge position? I need that sound. Lol

  • @telecasterman18 498 gibson humbucker

  • I have the 490 and 498 in my 90's LP Studio and LOVE THEM ....

    Awesome tone and playing

  • mid range dude, amazing.

  • Great sound!! My LP Studio had the same pickups, but I swapped the 490R for a P94R.

  • FINALLY! Someone who tune in a good sound, thank god for mature uploaders on Youtube!

  • good sound! ;)

  • Great playin' man! You gave me that warm fuzzy feeling that you get when you listen to good rock! Love that feelin'.

  • kinda sounds like the heartbreaker solo

  • truly awesome !! everything.. you're playing style, you're sound & the wine red color of course !!!!!

  • What's the difference between the 300k and the 500k pots? Nice tone btw!

  • is that the fuschia? i have the same one! i would like some more info on this thank you

  • @TheElectricSalad 'fuschia' ? - do you mean the colour of the guitar ? It is Wine Red.

  • @Mattukgtr wow I have a LP Standard '89 wine red.

  • @dedmarley probably from the same tree then !!

  • what is the name of the pots? btw ur playing made drool all over my computer

  • @AdamTheFenderBender the pots are CTS

  • i love your demos/reviews. i have a les paul with a SD JB in the bridge. I have a duncan custom (sh-5) and a 498t to choose from to replace. could you please give me your thoughts and opinions on the differences? thanks

  • @coolcustomer31 Depends what music you play and is it a Gibson LP ? - I personally think the 498t can sound a bit too inoffensive. The SH5 in a Gibson LP can be quite bright but gives a more focused mid range for high gain metal soloing. The JB will be best for classic rock and blues - plenty of grunt but more vintage/classic sounding - you either love the JB in a LP or hate it. If you play country then put the 498t in !!

  • TAB?

  • godlike playing :)

  • @gartensalat93 you think?

  • Why aren't u famous...

    I just dont know..

  • you play GODLIKE dude.................

  • @ashishknight not really.

  • what pickups come in a 2005 studio?

  • @goodwrench838

    The same ones I think.

  • You're awesome! Do you have a video with the other pickup?

  • extremely sexy :)

  • for a 1990 guitar it looks awesome...perfect condition and sound

  • Which one do you think is more suitable with gary moore, led zeppelin, gun n roses music style? 490R & 498T, burstbucker, or seymour duncan jazz+jb?

    (with epiphone lespaul custom)

    thx a lot

  • @wabwabb

Amplifier might affect more on the sound than the pickups. You should probably check out what they've used and see if you can get to similar gears. Especially if you have a solid state amp,you should consider more buying a new amplifier than new pickups. For example,Line6 Spiders pretty much eat the special tone from pickups.

  • These pickups sound better than on a Les Paul than a SG. Your thoughts ?

  • @Verboten1965 - Not sure as I haven't really played SG's - I thought that the SG had 490R + 490T rather than 490R + 498T as we have here ?

  • @Mattukgtr the sg special is 490R and 490T, but the sg standard is 490R and 498T.

  • I love the 490/498 combo in my 2001 Standard. Great sounds individually and together (especially when overdriven!). I may try a set of '57 classics someday, but no hurry here.

  • 490R/490T or 490R/498T?

  • 490R/498T

  • you are great!!!!!!!!

  • Great sound and great playing, beautiful Les Paul :-) what change 300k Potis to 500k ?

  • @GuitarEd48 Did you get the answer? I need it too

  • @ATNicolini No sorry he's no answer me :-(

  • I really dig 490 and 498 alnico pickup sound! Now with 500k pots they have nice round and full body AND highs too, that they lacked a bit with original 300k pots. Nice, really nice! I totally do not understand why majority are changing them.

  • The 490R/498T are actually very good pickups. Everybody seemed to get hung up on so called vintage authenticity. The vintage models like the Burstbuckers and 57 classics to me don't have enough grunt. The 498T is actually slightly more powerful in DC resistence than the DiMarzio. The DiM has ceramic magnet which makes it that bit louder than the 498T. The 498T does not have the low to mids of the DiMarzio.

  • Fabulous sound.
