That whistle has such a unique tone and the jig itself is very nice. Actually - listening to it kind of gives me the chills, I feel like it's in desperate need to be in a set. I almost feel like i've heard it in a set before and I just can't place it.
@MattLFraser Thanks - glad you like my tune - by all means find some tunes you feel sit well with it and play it in a set.... I haven't ever firmly put it in a set of my own. As for "unique" tone - hardly - see my previous response to pennywhistledj's comment! It is a (IMP) lovely tone, though - very much the sound I want a whistle to make - not "recordery" at all, but woody, sweet, resonant, powerful. I have played very few other whistles I can get this from.
@pennywhistledj: Thanks! Not so "unique", though - There are quite a few Jon Swayne whistles out there, and they are amongst the very best available! For examp[e, Carlos Nunez plays Swayne whistles in various keys - check him out on YT.
great friend , fantastic version--- if you could add a SLOW close up of your fingers on the C roll, i seem to be missing something, i t would be appreciated
@daddycavefish: Thanks for the comment. Sorry, but I don't have the technology to "add" anything to this clip.
On whistle the fingering sequence for the C natural roll is: C=oxx xox to D=oxx xxx (tap R2) to C=oxx xox to B=xoo xox ("cut" substitute - tap L1 while cutting L2&3, leave R fingers in place) to C=oxx xox.
On flute the fingering sequence is: C=oxo xxx to D=oxx xxx (tap L3) to C= oxoxxx to B=xoo xxx ("cut" substitute - tap L1 while cutting L2, leave R fingers in place) to C=oxo xxx.
