I just saw a sprint commercial on tv and they still have unlimited data on the mobile phone. mmm... unless your talking about the mobile broadband and hotspot.
I am on sprint and never heard about them taking away the unlimited data, but since the iphone has come to sprint the service has been horrible and slow as heck, some people call me and I don't get the call also. So I am actually going to switch. Trying to decide between verizon or at&t right now. Verizon is probably the best but is very expensive.
@ANNIEALBA if you tryning to decide between At&t and Verizon, i can tell you At&t offers unlimited mobile to mobile to any cell phone when you purchase a unlimited message plan and they have roll over minutes. Verizon don't offer that, but i would say verizon have a slight better voice and data coverage and verizon have better phones. Verizon don'offer mobile to mobile to any cell phone.
"more harm than not" not really. as much as i hate to admit it, companies are losing money due to the economy, the stock market is on the verge of crashing, the country is close to defaulting.
Just switched myself up upgrading to a Smart phone. Went to TMobile. Unlimited, but they throttle down after a certain amount. 2, 5, 10GB depending on plan purchased.
BUT AT&T is looking to buy TMobile. Govt is trying to stop it.
I creator of this video appears to be confused about the language in what Sprint is actually doing. They are ONLY placing a 5GB cap if you subscribe to Sprint's tethering Mobile Hotspot plan for an additional $30/month. UNLIMITED data for smartphones going forward will still be unlimited. If you want to stick with AT&T, please note that their tethering plans are much worse than Sprint's even with this new 5GB cap.
I don't like caps, but this is a non-issue. The Cap is for users that pay $30 extra bucks a month for a mobile hotspot feature. A physical hotspot for Sprint cost $60 a month for 5GB with $0.05 a MB overage. This move only brings the smartphone feature on par with the restrictions of the physical hot spot device plans, except the fee is $30 a month and not $60.
Your phone data will still be unlimited to use for apps on the phone, the data caped is the tethered data.
Yah it sucks. But I'm sure it's expensive for a mobile carrier to keep up all those wireless towers, infrastructure, upgrade it to the latest generation etc. The more mobile data and video we use the more it costs them. It kinda makes sense that they need to recoup costs. It's either capping or upping the prices? Or is there another way?
Let me get this straight: You're an AT&T customer. AT&T charges more for your plan than Sprint does. It also caps your data on YOUR device today. Meanwhile, Sprint is capping the data ONLY when you use your Sprint device as a hotspot for other devices. And so you're crazy mad at Sprint and remain an AT&T customer. Yes. That makes perfect sense.
@wordscolliding I a $20 unlimited data plan with at&t that I've been grandfathered into for having for about 7 years. For the past month I've been seriously considering switching to sprint simply because they were the last company left that still actually offered unlimited. I wanted to 'reward' them for that with my business. Now they do not.
@Urgo6667 Well, that's kind of apples to oranges, is it not? You're grandfathered into a plan that came before the iPhone was even developed!
I can understand you sticking with the grandfathered plan. But Sprint offers new customers more for less than AT&T offers its new customers, and Sprint ranks far better in customer service.
@wordscolliding except they aren't offering unlimited data anymore.. thats the sole feature I care about. I really don't talk on the phone much. I just don't want walls around my data. I don't use tremendous amounts but its just the feeling of being in a data jail.

Sprint just lost business, I never really liked Sprint in the first place, (I don;t hate them with a fiery passion, I've just always preferred Verizon or AT&T) but now that they made this fail decision I think that their sales are going to drop by at least 20% in the next few months, considering that most people only have Sprint for the unlimited data plan.
I think the companies are all joining together to keep their profits higher....I wish that cellular was regulated more!! I have Verizon and while I'm not a huge data user I think I do have unlimited data that is grandfathered. Eventually there will be a smaller company that will sneak in and grab lots of users with an unlimited plan!!! Ummm Urgo Unlimited sounds catchy eh?
In Canada the mobile incumbents are so arrogant that their thinking is... well if you go with our competitors we will penalize you because we have to make our profit margins. The landscape has changed with the start ups. The incumbents lost a lot of their market to them and I hope they continue to lose.
ISP's are the same companies of course and they are taking the same hard lined approach. I bought a bigger package and they continue to throttle my speed. It really pisses me off.
@randomcrazyfun76 Thats pretty much the plan I have been grandfathered in with at&t on. $20/mo for unlimited data and 1500 txt msgs which for me is unlimited. I was considering switching to sprint though because at&t is starting to throttle and force upgrades as well and I wanted a carrier that truly believed in offering good service to the customer but thats not sprint anymore I guess......
As for cell video I like HD.. thats why I want a new cell (wanted on sprint) too hehe.
its all about makin that dough now and seeing how easily the government can do it and the banks and the coke brothers along with the oil industry... the smaller corps are starting to catch on and unlimited is going to become a thing of the past... people may agree but if they all do it.. we have no choice!
@WisemanTimes I just don't understand why sprint would do this. They don't have the greatest coverage so this was one of their major selling points and they just killed it. Stupid of them if you ask me.
@thunderhayes Yet thats the way the world is moving. Anyway I *don't* rely on them as my primary network unless I'm traveling and still I use a lot of data on my phone just under normal use. I would rather pay a little bit more and be GUARANTEED unlimited rather then have limited placed on me.
@thunderhayes because cable companies totally don't put download caps on you, eh?
actually, they don't. and we got 2 towers with LTE in experimental stages here, the highest you can get is like 5mb per second...fuck that, i got a 35mb line at my house.
@Rcrby525 Comcast has limits even on 'grandfathered' accounts. They're usually so freakin high only torrent up/downloaders and ppl trying to host a server will need to worry. I think our limit is 300gb. Our family of 4 internet users dont even come close.
@Urgo6667 1500 txt is unlimited? Tell that to my 17 year old son. 16 days into billing and he's at 2500 ;)
@mykinoakley Sorry but you are wrong. If you decide to stream video every day for hours a day you would go way over and that is just ONE family member. That is why comcast has a cap because they do not want competition of their video service. Phone companies are capping because they do not want competition to their voice service. All these caps are ANTI-competitive.

@tulleuchen Personally I'd rather pay a higher price then have a tiny cap with HUGE overages. 5gb goes by real quick if you're streaming video.
