Surely, the Smith-Morra, like most centre gambits is quite playable below master level. IM Lenderman lost on the White side of the Smith-Morra against GM Gulko not long ago..my Fritz 10 program isn't terribly impressed with the vaunted Finegold defense, fwiw.
Thanks a lot for the video. I have been playing the Morra-Smith in blitz chess quite a lot and I was able to beat players that were rated about 350-400 points higher than me. But I have to say that I didn't really focus on the concrete moves black played. I just played the standard setup and went from there but now I see that I actually might have overlooked some very strong tactical possibilities. So, again, very nice video and I'd really like to see more! Cheers.
excellent commentary. you have a good understanding and know how to share it. I think your advice is spot on. I am 2100 CFC (Canadian) and have played it with great results vs under 2000 in tournament practice.

hi master,can you do a video on the cordel gambit of the ruy lopez as black? i tried explorig it and found a lot of great posible attacks,and a lot of posible blunders
