31/07/81 was just the first day of MTV... ahh! the good ol' days!

that was just the day the total solar eclipse arrived... with the apolo 81 in the moon... 80's rocks!

I saw the 1981 eclipse in Bratsk, Siberia. My first total solar eclipse, and clouds popping up in the vincinity of the sun it caused the up to now highest adrenaline level in my life. It was quite a problem for a group of young west german amateur astronomers to get into the USSR and travel around there.

I saw the 2008 eclipse in Novosibirsk - what a change since that times!
