  • wow I think the same things as Ihsahn at this age, aside from Satanism, that's pretty immature

  • fine greier

  • 5:47 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL most black metallers hate LaVey

  • Even the way Abbath walks down the stairs is grim lol

  • holy fuck ihsahn was 19

  • @mydarklovelyprince

Paganism may be purer, but it's still fairytale made up bullshit for people who are terrified of reality. Not that there's anything wrong with that, faith is fine as long as it doesn't adversely effect other people, which it usually does. The sooner people abandoned the Abrahamic faiths, the better the world would be.

  • @DrCornwallis100 Agreed..

  • Mountains of might !

  • 7:58 By his ponytail, are those shadow puppets or something, haha?

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • Flau på Ihsahn`s vegne

  • @L2kite Enig, men han kan vel ikke klandres, da han ikke akkurat hadde blitt voksen enda her.

  • fuck you all and your arguments

  • 7:58 behind the head of Ihsahn lol

  • "the black seriousness"....\m/

  • oh man! i wish i could have been at the records store in there.. guy pulls out original BM releases on vinyl.. that stuff is expensive as hell today...

  • Everyone can see that's Immortal!

Stop the video around 02:05 and you'll see Abbath :D

  • what's the name of those two background songs in the video?

    the first one from 0:44 - 1:03

and the second one from 1:20 - 2:11

those are both really epic songs.

  • 1. Arvo Pärt - Stabat Mater, 2. Immortal - Mountains of Might intro

  • What a young Immortal!!!!

  • The first band was Satyricon - walk the path of sorrow

  • well, i quess the right way to put it is : the black or dark gravity. i don't know. i mean its just a norwegian ecspression. greetings from norway man.

  • I see what you mean mate, it's not really 'gravity' though but 'serious' or 'grave'. Cheers.

  • I have a question does... Det Svarte Alvor mean The Black Seriously?? just want to make sure I got the title right..

and thanks for posting this video, I kind of understand where Black Metal is coming from now thanks to the documentary..

  • It means "Darkest Sincerity"

    Thanks for your comment.

  • thanks for replying...xD

  • There weren´t many satanist within the norwegian scene at that time. However, media were writing and talking about "satanic milieu" or "ritual satanist", because of atractivity of such a titles. In fact, most of that guys were enemies of christianity because they have meant Norway was forced to become christian country, or they simply disliked the lifestyle of major society. There weren´t such a things like real ritual, black masses etc.

  • @Apostasy13 You're so right! The media was making up such stories. The 'pure evil, ant-Christian' slant was all that they could understand. Paganism is so beyond their spiritual/mental realm, and frame of mind, it's not even funny...Satanism relies on the same Christian based mores and fears to function at all. Paganism is so pure, and unadulterated by all that dull, dogmatic brainwashing!!

  • @ChristAlmightyAnal More like "The Dark Seriousness" Or much more like "The Black Seriousness".

  • @jess16saint Yeah it means "dark seriousness or black seriousness", but it`s in my opinion also a pun because "alvor" is very similar to the word "alver" which is the Norwegian word for "elfs". Actually "alvor" means "elfs" in Swedish, the country next to Norway, so I doubt that the title is just randomly picked. lol.

  • 00:32 wht band is that and what song ???

  • what was the band rehersed in the beginning

  • immortal

  • iam cunfused some say immortal some satyricon :S which is it

  • that emperor guy is a twat! i've seen him talk nowadays.. he just acts like a badass for the camera here lol he did not murder, burn down churches or did burgulary or any of that shit his fellow bands mates had done!

stop putting on the deep voice and respect darkthrone and mayhem as your predacessors and founders of black metal (regarding a clip i saw of him saying their Nightside Eclipse album was the first lol!)

  • Here is someone educated...

  • I love the energy of this music but the bastardized Nietzschean philosophy is a little pathetic

  • The atmosphere in the rehearsal room in the beginning is epic.

    Satyricon when they where trve!

  • was that satyricon?! O.o (and for the love of...ehm satan..dont say trve its so lame and stereotypical)

  • okey but what song ?? if that is satyricon

  • Not true Shiny. Nag well, you are not thinking clearly. All of us wonder, eh? He does not care what you ask 'why?' for. His novelty is numerous generalizations from confusion. Thrive in blind awe, you all are childish to a greater satanic genius.

  • As of now, Ihsahn totally changed. In a recent interview he stated he left his satanic beliefs behind...

  • True but he is still against Christianity he just grew out of his heavy Satanic beliefs

  • I've seen so many norwegian satanists but i want to ask them a question, are they joined into the church of satan? :P I wonder if Varg was. He should check laveyan rules of satanism, satanism is about loads of respect.

  • You should check the history of black metal better. Apart from Ihsahn most people in the Norwegian black metal scene disliked LaVey and thought his ideas were weak. In some of his earlier books LaVey stated he hated metal and thought it was stupid noise. The only reason why LaVey eventually said nice things about artists like Morbid Angel and Marilyn Manson (another clown) was to increase his popularity among the youth. LaVey was stupid and fake, try reading Crowley instead if you like satanism.

  • Varg Vikernes, is not, and has never been, a satanist.

  • @OyvindFtw Varg isnt satanist...

  • hahaha, do any of you know where the metal studs and makeup came from? come on dudes. it's rock 'n' roll history!!! THE METAL STUDS: CAME FROM ROB HALFORD(JUDAS PRIEST) HE GOT THE IDEA FROM SADOMASOCHISM, THE MAKE-UP:ALICE COOPER, KISS!!! IT'S ALL COMMERCIALISM WEATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!!

  • And because humans evolved from apes we are still all apes? I don't understand your logic. The second wave of black metal erupted about 15 years after Judas Priest and Kiss became popular. How does that make black metal commercial? Yes there are commercial black metal bands, there are commercial bands in every music style. That doesn't make the genre commercial. But I guess you learned your "rock'n'roll history" from VH1...

  • to be about who you worship or pray for!!! i hate it when musicians bring they're believes into it. and specially when people follow like dumb lil sheep's!!! now when it's music that sends you a message about being yourself, i mean look at yourselves, you all look the same. you're like fucking clones or something? you all even act the same!!! it's like telling a christian the bible is full of shit!!all right then rock'n'roll expert. who were the first bands, where did it come from? teach me!!!!

  • Dude, if you honestly knew anything about metal you wouldn't even ask me this. You'd know there's more to metal than a simple comment on youtube could explain. There are several websites out there you can visit (including my website) if you want to know more about metal. Youtube is for leaving comments to videos, it's not for big discussions. Take your stereotypes and go cry about them on some forum but not here. You hate it when musicians have beliefs? You obviously know nothing of black metal.

  • thanks for uploading this!

  • he was a fullblood satanist when that was recorded,no question about it..

  • Im From Norway And i am a satanist and i now Ihsahn and he is not a satanist longer but he was

  • Do anyone knows what is that song at 1:24 ?

  • Because he was young and today he's 33.

  • haha i didnt know ihsahn used to be so gr1m, or maybe he was faking it cuz these days he talks like a normal person and he has friends even friends like Michael Akerfeldt. i guess he was doing his "alter ego" thang.

  • This video is really cool! But it is really inaccurate the the black metallers were influenced by LaVey and followed his Satanic Bible. They fucking hated him! They were all either Theistic Satanist, Norse Pagan, or Atheist.

  • Does anyone know who the person running up the staris in the beginning is....or am I missing something??

  • I think it is Satyricon's Walk the path of sorrow but i'm not sure

  • Haha thats not what he asked dumbass.. and the real answer: How the fuck are we supposed to identify him?

  • It's Satyr from Satyricon, the band playing in the rehearsal place is Satyricon before they went "glam rock" There are no interviews with Satyricon in this documentary though.

  • his voice is totally poor

  • yeah awesome!!!!the first immortal song is

"unsilent storms in the north abyss",the second song is "the sun no longer rises".

immortal and emperor are fucking amazing bands.thanx man

  • Meeh, cant figure what his the first song xD

  • Fuckin' awesome. Thanx!!!

  • I had this on VHS in the early 90's, great vid!

  • Tusen takk man for å legge ut denne supervideoen, har lett etter den i over 2 år ;) Great work

  • At 7:58, what the fuck is happening to his pony-tail?

  • Lol, good observation! I hadn't even noticed that myself, it looks like someone is trying to cut Ihsahns hair... hahaha.

I think Ihsahn is just scratching his head there, you can see the shadow of his cigarette in his hand. But it looks weird.

  • Hehe, yeah, probably just his hand.

  • I thought someone's making those silly shaped shadows (dunno how're they called in english) lol

  • look at 3:40 of part 2 and youll understand

  • man i'v seen this ages ago

    great upload
