I agree. A quick but cool and classy transition. The announcer, Charlie Van Dyke, does voiceovers for several TV and radio stations, including KABC-TV and KRTH-FM here in L.A. The Gray Television stations, including WOWT, all did very classy analog farewells worthy of that historic occasion. Check for the farewells of sister stations WMTV (Madison, WI) and WNDU-TV (South Bend, IN), all NBC affiliates.
Looking ahead to the digital era, and looking back at 60 years as Nebraska's 1st TV station...that is a great way to begin the next 60 years of channel 6. Hope all other stations can sign off with the Star Spangled Banner, or God Bless America or America the Beautiful when DTV comes 6/12/09.
Several TV stations did indeed sign off from analog with the Star Spangled Banner because of the truly historic nature of the switch. I have favorited several of them into a playlist, "DTV Transition Yearbook", on my YouTube page.
This was a cool transition. I grew up in Omaha and it's been a long time since I heard that voiceover guy.:)
