Whyyyyyy did they make an American version? I'm American and Little Britain is 10x funnier in the UK version. I laugh so hard. I just get bored with this version. I don't want to hear Americans talking. I hear that every fucking day. It's Little "Briiiiiiiiitain." Hopefully the producers we'll get enough hate mail and let us see your version on our tv.
Even funnier than the BBC version, and they haven't toned it down, thank god, still outrageous as ever. The gym rat sketch was great. A shame you have to have cable to see it in the U.S. It's shown OTA in Britain, but the FCC would probably ban it here.
I'm glad Vicky didn't tone down her accent - I can well understand her even though she's from like the Bristol area. Yeah, but no, but yeah, my American friends can't understand a word, haha, so I have to translate.
thats my friend lauren! she's in my chorus class and she's amazingly talented and im soooo proud to know herrrr(: i cant wait to ask her about this tomorrow.
This HBO production of Little Britain is "bloody" awful.
Whether it was "kicked up a notch" for an American audience or HBO, it'll probably never be known. But, either way, it's a train wreck.
Wit and humor has been replaced with crude and often baseless humor geared more toward shocking its viewer into a nervous titter than inciting into genuine laughter.
Buy the original series and savor the originality, but save THIS particular offering for rental. You'll be glad you did.
I agree whole heartedly. I'm in Arizona and just learned about Little Britain from DVDs at Tempe Library and have been watching them for the last two months. When I found out on the Abroad DVD they were going Stateside, I cringed, thinking we'd ruin it, here in America. And we have. Not the same, folks. It's a shame. But, I'm glad they're here, working!!!
i just have a question y do u think all the americans wont get this show and that their having the character speak slower cause well gosh were just to stupid and slow to understand that fast talking girl. i dont mean to be rude but thats the way u r coming off. i like british shows so dont underestimate how smart we r because of our accent
this show is amazingly lame, uhhh let's see, i never laughed once, i basically cringed at the dated references and predictable comedic timing. im a huge fan of British humor. this is not in that category. unfortunately, this falls under the NOT FUNNY genre of humor.
Well as an American I FRICKEN LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I'm born and raised in Oregon. And some of the "white trash" references made on this show may offend other people, but I think it hilarious because some of it is pretty accurately depicted, like the hunters going "WHOO HOO" all the time and how most Americans are obese! I just love this show and wish I had been watching it from the beginning of it's BBC Days! What fun is it if we can't be made fun of in good humor and not laugh?
Yeah I never could understand British humor. I understand what she is saying but just doesn't appeal to me. I will give it a chance when it finally airs.
lol to be honest americans wont like this show cuz were like making fun of them. like every where i guess i live in america but i still dont understand the dry humor of americans.. guess just a racial thing
seriously. i am an american and i think this is some of the funniest material ive seen in a while. i love vicky pollard. i love little brittan. this show makes fun of everyone. and if you cant laugh at yourself you shouldnt be allowed to watch it.
fair enough, but i wouldn't say this is a fair representation of british humour though...it's fairly lowest-common-denominator stuff. check out "i'm alan partridge", "extras", "the office" (UK) for an idea of quality british comedy ;)
Looks like they've made all of the European accented characters talk slower. Must be most Americans (well 95% that I know) can't understand an English accent.
We already get this show and others on BBC America and it is fairly popular, so it isn't completely new. AND would you expect us to understand an accent like Vicky Pollard has lol? That would be like expecting British people to readily understand what someone with a strong Ozarks or Appalachian accent is saying. Isn't the whole point of the joke that she is incomprehensible lol?
Yeah, but, no, but yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah....I think Americans will get it because we can have senses of humor and Jill says that Cathy wanted to see Thomas watch it on HBO and, no, but yeah, no, but yeah...It'll be great and yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah, no, but yeah...and Carol is such a liar!!
I'd just like to point out that not all americans get this .. but me and my friends well love it. We watch the show all the time (I have every season on DVD) I think that british humor is AH-MAZING. and Vikky Pollard is the best.
My fear is that Americans won't understand the whole chav culture when it comes to Vicky Pollard. It's like going to the UK and making Texas Longhorn references or spoofing American advertisements - the concept will be lost on most.
everyone on this forum that has had a successful comedy series on TV step forward!come on then, you all have a bloody good opinion of someone elses brainchild! NO! i didnt think there would be any, considering the cost to you all as well! david and matt didnt just think oh we'll shove this on the box, and hope for the best.Damned ungrateful id call you all. so easy to diss and dismiss isnt it? if it doesnt suit you immediately and precisely you slag it off, and you are the next generation? grrr
I've noticed as a Canadian who is kind of stuck in the middle that the American's are taking good Brit shows and ruining them and they have so many good shows I don't understand why. They should just fuck'n by the rights to play the original series. Then again I think it's because they don't really go for the humor they need more swearing and less thinking.
I'm a Malaysian but I'm a huge Little Britain fan. Original Vicky is so much better, she lost her 'character' in this one.. but I still want to see it because it's still Little Britain but I prefer the original much more. British comedies are the greatest.

It's about time. Discovered it thru Youtube. Love Little Brit. Especially, Bubbles, Sebastian and Vicky. The US is going to explode with laughter when they see these characters.
