Glenn was a great pick and all around Fantastic Guy.. I went to Knoxville TN and spent the weekend with him... this is back in the days when he had Paul Brewster singing with the band... other band members included Darryl Wolfe, Byron Doss and Carl Tomasso.. saw them play a show at Buddy's Bar BQ which was located next door to the music store at which Glenn worked... called Pick 'N Grin if my memory serves me correctly
in case anyone isnt aware, Barry Reed, son of Blake Reed, now plays bass for the Lonesome River Band who just preformed with Steve Martin on David Letterman show...that video is here on youtube.
I was at Buddys the night TKG cut their live album. Oak Ridge Scientists brought some Nuclear Scientists from Germany to see some American culture. I bought them a picture of beer and they in turn bought one for me and my friends. We did that all night, and needless to say......WE HAD A GREAT TIME!!!! I'm sure they went back to Germany and told everyone that those people from Eastern Tennessee really knew how to record an album. Those were Good Times! You are still remembered Glenn..........
I used to take guitar from Glenn when I was a kid and my brother took banjo. I really miss Glenn , he was such a good friend and mentor. These guys and the Pinnical Boys where my local heros.
Brings back "Memories" of great times. Awesome band. Band members are Glenn Laney - banjo and world's greatest brother, Blake Reed, rythmn guitar, Gary Ferguson, lead guitar, Tim Passmore, fiddle, Gary Baker, base, probably Doug Kline on drums.
