  • OWNED! 4:10

  • Lei è Carmen!...Fantastica!

  • Sublime...

  • Good boobies and good music, the best combination .

  • To think of the scandal that this would have caused when Carmen debuted on the stage!!! The sexual innuendo in the lyrics and the choreography is very prominent! I love it!

  • Amazing!

  • tits tits tits tits tits tits tits tits nice tits

  • Looks like it is time to stay the corset folks. MME. Antonacci is the star here, with her clear cool beautiful tone and proving that opera singers can act and really portray a colorful character like Carmen in a profound way. I take my sombrero off to you, my dear. Great performance!

  • DO you have the other songs from this, like Toreador, Flower Song, etc.?

  • @Chaserpeach I saw a number of scenes from this production here in the past, those you mentioned as well as quite a few others. If they haven't been removed you can find them. Look for "Carmen Royal Opera Antonacci Kaufmann D'Arcangelo" -- I am not sure if the same person posted it, but there are many scenes here.

    ORGANIZACIÓN DEL VOLUNTARIADO

  • greatly enjoyed.

  • I LOVE Anna Caterina!

  • Bravissima

  • This is wonderful! And is that the real translation of it? And this is French right?

  • @rakche21 Yes, the translation its okay and the song's language is french

  • Best "Carmen" I have seen thus far. She certainly embodys this fiery gyspy!

  • @Gemlinlover1001 Amen to that!

  • Opera singers don't belt, operatic singing technique does not involve belting. I do agree, opera singers are absolutely amazing being to sing without amplification, dance, act, in 3-5 hour performances, without their voice wavering even once, expressively, with perfect diction in multiple languages, and sounding at the end of the performance just as effortless as in the beginning.

  • The best Carmen!!!

  • Amazing performance !

  • Thanks for posting. She is terrific. Thought Garanca was my favorite Carmen, but she certainly gives her a run for the money! Loved how playful she is, not to mention the terrific voice.

  • besides being a good singer, she seems to be an excellent actor!!

  • Amamzing!

  • good ...

  • They are going to have it in theater 3D~~ I'm so gonna watch it!

  • I think this is a great performance. I am currently performing as Carmen right now.

  • Great body, PERFECT voice.

  • u wanna know something ironic? im a hardcore metalhead but i loved this...like no joke its magnificent

  • @No29Smirnoff Great to hear it! You might be interested to know that this production of Carmen is shown in movie theaters all over the US. most performances were this weekend, but some movie theaters have performances next weekend. Google for carmen3d and you'll find it. I saw it yesterday, and although the cast was different, it was still an excellent production.

  • @No29Smirnoff Good for you! I too like both opera and rock and roll, raised on both.

And, you know, some metal singers are not that far from opera. People like Ian

Gillan, Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio and Bruce Dickinson definitely sing in a way

that recalls opera, although I don't think any of them could do real opera. Well, maybe

    Ian Gillan.

  • @finylvinyl66 lol, one of my friend's has a philosophy: If you're TRAINED in opera, you can do whatever the Hell you want, vocally. LOL

  • Grazie Anna!!!

  • i like when she made hit those high notes effortlessly

  • BRAVA!!!!! GREAT RESPECT FROM GEORGIA!!!

  • where I can download this complete work on the Internet, and what is the real name of the work?

    excuse my English (google translator)

  • @oystein18x

It's an Opera from Bizet called 'Carmen'

If bought myself the dvd of the full performance, it's sooooooo fcking great.

  • @Jaspervdk thanks friend for you answer

  • She certainly posses the right degree of shall we say lustiness. Can't wait to search for more of her performances. I would love to have seen this live. Oh, la la!

  • Najbardziej zmysłowa Carmen!

  • Fantastic.

  • brava ma lievemente sopranile.

  • @liricanteable1 XKE TI RISULTA KE LA ANTONACCI SIA UN MEZZOSOPRANO??? LEI E' UN SOPRANO FALCON!

  • @evilbeckychan I'm a Lyric contralto/soprano in training and trust me when I say it's a lot easier to do than most people think. You have to gradually train yourself by wearing it tighter and longer each day as well as doing various singing exercises while wearing it. Eventually you're a pro! :)

  • @BassBunnieGirl - you mean you're mezzo

  • @tzeqin Depends, actually. I can sing both soprano and mezzo.

  • I wish I've got this DVD for Christmas but a French TV broadcast it right after midnight 01/2011 ! What a gift !.

  • @DrMusBel Yes i saw this two or three years ago on television.it is fabulous-I did not record it though, what good timing for you.Look out for an excellent production of Gounod's with Georghiu and Alangna.

  • @TZEITEL10 This should say Goumods Faust.

  • One of the best I've heard for her emotion. Not so sure I like her voice, but I'm very impressed by her ability to sing whilst wearing a corset. I've done it before, and it's not the easiest thing in the world. All in all, not my favorite, but she's great for the role.

  • Excellent. Do not forget, Carmen is a brave cigarette factory girl in 19th century Seville who rightly considers herself equal to any man and acts as such. She is not a whore. THIS is how Carmen must be portrayed, with earthly sensuality and the necessary irony. Plus, Antonacci sings very well here.

  • My least favorite Carmen give me some Elina G. or Denyce G.

  • sexy production :-)

  • L'amour est enfant de Bohême,

    il n'a jamais, jamais connu de loi;

si tu ne m'aimes pas, je t'aime

si je t'aime, prends garde à toi!

    Perfect!

  • Thank you for the English translation. Magnificent !

  • absoutely beautiful!

  • I think this is one of the finest renditions of the opera. I think Anna's blatant sexuality makes this comedy. Even the moment (and it was a moment1) between her and the actor, playing Don Jose (he's sitting at the table writing) is pure sexual. Marilyn Johnson did a great job too, but Anna Caterina gets my best of the best!

  • I think one needs to be Italian to best appreciate this sort of thing, though it sure beats rap.

  • @guyNbluejeans Pas italienne. C'est français : )

I agree; this is far superior to commercial rap or hip hop.

  • @oftenlying Pas français non plus. C'est espagnol. : )

I agree as well, I wouldn't even dare to compare such beauty with hip-hip and the like. Cheers!

  • @melancholicme123 Even to a hip hop/pop standard it still sucks.

  • @NeverAloneForever "It still sucks"? Just exactly what still sucks by comparison to a supposed hip-hop standard? I wonder.

  • @oftenlying i completely agree. C'est vrai. rap is just some dude yelling crap at you while some crazy drummer's beatin away in the background.

  • I am not an opera singer, but I do my fair share of belting. Personally...I have no idea how those ladies sing like that in those corsets!!! it's amazing how opera singers not only have to sing, but dance and even perform extreme acts in those tight costumes!!! Kudos to every single one of them!!!

  • @evilbeckychan Well, when I did it, my director told us to learn how to breathe at the right moments when moving around, and when you exhale, just sing. As for the corsets...breathe...with...your..boobs. Do not try to sing and breathe with your diaphram xD

  • @evilbeckychan It's all in breath support. I sing opera, and I prefer to sing in a tight dress or a corset. It keeps the abdominal muscles firm and solid, which is necessary for these types of notes and phrases. Concerning her specific voice is called a Mezzo Soprano, which is naturally rich, darker in tone, and stronger.

  • @evilbeckychan The corsets usually aren't historically correct in operas and are thus not as restricting as they look. Take a look at the costumes in a period opera and then look at some historically correct costumes from the same era. A good example is the opera Don Carlo and historically correct 16th Century Spanish women's court costumes. The opera costume "silhouette" and the "silhouette of a historically correct costume are quite different.

  • @evilbeckychan you're right about the corsets!

  • 28 idiots....really 28 negative votes?guys what r u listening to? i personally listen to all kinds of music but we should also honour older types like opera just cuz everything we listen today is coming from classical music!

  • @udoxs "People who blow themself up for their god" do not like singing, nor half-naked breasts... They even despite all woman. And by their negative voting, we know now that.... at the moment I write this, there were yet 32 visiters of that kind. Grrrrrr.

  • this music is beautiful and i rather this version of bizet's - carmen than others...

    is more dramatic i think.

  • I absolutely love this song <3

  • la piu grande carmen di tutti itempi

  • Appreciate the English subtitles, even as the song is being sung in French. Thank you.

  • @Sathiya1118 Thank you for your comment.

  • great, now it's stuck in my head.

  • in 0.18 to 0.27 shows her nipples??? hehehe

  • Carmen, i love you

  • MAGNÍFICO!

  • Those corsets...how do these ladies do it? How can they sing in them, let alone breathe in them?...

  • dIT NUMMER ZAL ME ALTIJD AAN U DOEN DENKEN R.I.P MC.WOLF

  • Dit nummer zal me altijd aan u blijven denken R.I.P C.WOLF

  • Finalmente una Carmen sexy e stuzzicante, allegra...superba davvero!

    Adoro quest' opera!

  • She is the best carmen I've ever seen! Bravo!!!

  • awesome

  • I am impressed by her pronunciation.

  • Great interpretation. It's not about vocal perfection as some others are commenting on...it's about selling the character and she does that beautifully....which is why I think she sounds perfect for the character.

  • What an earthy and sexy interpretation - the right balance of vulgarity and refinement!

  • Excellent !

  • Superbe! Barbara! Brava!!!

  • Favorite, so far. For some reason most of the other accents bother me a bit.

  • I admit not to have listened much but rather stared at her. A hungry nurslings paradise.

  • @ThatGuyFromAustria

LOL at the way you worded it.

  • I love this performance.

  • I love it :3

  • from 1:30 on im the little kid next to the guy wearing the bandana (not my best performance)

  • gahh i love this opera!

  • I think Callas's voice is better, but Anna Caterina Antonacci's version of this is more fascinating

  • Throaty vocal production with a wobble. Listen to Marguerite Alvarez

  • She is exellent acting!!! and I love her interpretation of the song!!!! Love it!!!...

  • forgive me for being naive, but what language is thus? French?

  • @zaktrickzter69

    Yes.

  • @zaktrickzter69 it's french, good ear.

  • she is a very beautiful woman

  • Fantastic! The best Carmem I've ever seen! Sensual, bitch, whatever... amazing!

  • her slow vibrato makes me fearful for her sound in her later years!!!!

  • Wow, sexy...

  • Her technique is better than Callas', but Callas has more passion.

  • @Cellsolid with all respect and admitting on the passion level... if singing that and Lucia and Aida is a sign of inferior technique then we are on a different planet...

  • Oh God another dim wit Carmen

  • The BEST EVER!!!

  • She's one of the best singers I've heard on this song. You can understand what she's saying and she sings it wonderfully. The others I've heard sing this sing it to where you can barely hear that there are words to the song. She's acting well too.

  • @kagurathemonkey Try Angela Gheorghiu...She's my fav on this song

  • The soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci Resounding voice and overwhelming stage presence.

  • anna is a sensual and alluring Carmen with the voice as well! this is a great production. i saw the entire opera.

  • gypsymagic is working... :-D

  • One of the best, if not the best interpretations I've ever heard. She's absolutely cut out for this role.

  • @dfgrbtr I agree :D Not only her singing, but her acting is great too

  • She's hottt!!! :)))

  • spectacular

  • dont let pronunciation fool you, this is indeed french. also remember that this opera is over 150 years old, languages are fluid, they do change over time

  • is it some different form of french?

it sounds like french but i know french doesn't have those rolling r's that spanish and italian have

  • :o I'm not sure because I've heard the French national anthem with weird rolling r's before, too... o_O

  • We do, especially in the south.

  • in opera it is usual to roll the R's because the normal French R's are spoken at the back of the throat which isn't good while singing...

  • well, this is an old french play about the Spanish...

  • what language is this?

  • french

  • love it. It is beautiful

  • Lovely!

  • !!! I thought opera was rubbish and entirely different to this!

    This was wicked!

    Anybody have any recommendations please?

  • Try looking at "the magic flute" the songs aren't half bad ;)

  • Indeed! The Queen of the Night Aria is just...wow. And Papagena/Papageno is the most adorable thing i've ever seen.

  • She has an amazing voice and energy to how she's playing carmen :)

  • This woman is such a delight to watch. Natural, joyous, erotic, absolutely stunning.

  • Una Carmer Perfecta. Nice interpretation. Thank you. I love it.

  • Damn! Just Damn! The voice, the energy, the costuming, the bare feet. This is a treasure.

  • Because this "Garbage" is beautiful.

  • @Ramlady2004 You can't judge these songs and a GREAT composer like Bizet!

  • I absolutely love this. She's wonderful to watch.

  • i have always wanted to know wut the lyrics were, the song was awesome even when i didn't know wut she was saying

  • One of my absolute favorites, thank you for posting this.

  • Royal Opera House - Carmen :) 06/07!!!

  • Hmmm......I'm very amused by this blatantly earthy and even erotic performance. It moves me in places I've forgotten even existed. Reminds me of Marilyn Monroe singing in River of No Return.

  • My favorite interpretation. There are many beautiful versions of this aria on YouTube by great singers, but I keep going back to this one, and watch it again and again....And when I want to give people who don't know opera a taste of what opera is like, I refer to this video.

  • Indeed!I keep watching again and again.Maybe Antonacci is not the fairest or youngest Carmen ever, but she has such an energy that makes you unable to get your eyes from her! She's great!

  • sexuality is such mysterious thing: i am gay but while listening to this song i am again and again faling in love with a woman...Ma foi, je ne sais pas...

  • Comment removed

  • @vanillacokemz

Nice. Never thought I will hear a gay mana say that.

  • hm eih !

  • she is beautiful

  • my favourite opera song, my only opera

  • I just love this piece...Her singing is awesome!!! Bravo!!!!!

  • Really, the best Carmen ever!

  • Superbe!!!

  • Opera is Ossim... sorta

  • Jolie prestation, voix claire. Belle actrice.
