  • If not for these people with conscience, protesting the way ... we would STILL be in Vietnam !

  • and Jesus said, ' some are to be teachers, some soldiers, some protesters, there is a time for all seasons and for all people

  • Much more effective than Farcebook...

  • Why is the present generation so complacent?

  • @ginlynn: This isn't "putting down the military". Check out Vietnam Vets against the War. It's putting down the people who sent them to fight a bad war where we were never going to do any good. Ever hear the expression "lions sent by jackasses"? I can respect lions, I have no respect for the jackasses. They profited off the war while soldiers paid the real cost with their lives. As for draft dodgers, let's talk about the children of those same jackasses, who always were someplace SAFE.

  • Thanks for the memories, weatherhed! I was there -- I even was a marshall on the 24th. That whole few weeks from mid-April into May is still sharp in my mind.

  • I just saw Forest Gump tonight and it reminded me of that great time in 1971 when I was there in DC

  • I have no repespect for bainless blank heads who follow orders and kill and murder woman children and villages...

I have no respect for worshipping a military that is out of control...I have respect for those who have not forgotten we have a consitution and the Vietnam war--and the crimes of todays wars still need to be faced in the world court and the rumsfelds and cheneys and macnamars need to go to prison...and those that follow them should end up in prison also.

  • @greenwoodtea Thank a vet for the freedom you just expressed. If not for our military you just put down you would not be able to say it.

  • is this the same events as in the Forrest Gump movie

  • I was 19 when I was drafted and served as a infantry with the 101 Airborne in 1968 and did not want to go but i followed the law. Looking back on this chapter in my life I am so happy that i had the intestinal fortitude to to weather this storm and live. I have no respect for you dope smoking LSD crowd who sold out their country. The war was not right because only a few served and those ouf you who chickened out were pardoned by a spineless President.

  • Believe it or not we are allowed to protest against our gov. In fact that is how this country got started.

At that march there were all kinds of people and the hippies were not in the majority.

I would have been drafted but my number was too high. And I am very glad for that.

I didn't know anyone who went to Canada or didn't go when they had to.

You are wrong in assuming everyone there was a draft dodger as you imply.

  • I guess it's easier to curse those who helped get you home, than it is to admit you made a mistake going. Still, I honor and thank you for your courage and your service.

  • they only delayed the outcome.

  • If i had chickenout and not went then it would be difficult for me look upon the Viet Nam vets memorial with 59,000 names on it of those who went in my place.

  • There should be a peace march for this crazy war

  • everyone's got a cellphone that'll rub their balls and make pancakes so no-one wants to rock the boat.

  • I wish I could find myself there.

I wore my Kent state T-shirt which of course got a lot of attention.

I never thought of bringing a camera. But thats how it is when you are 18.

  • Where are those good Americans?! Where are human rights defenders?! R.I.P good old days..

  • With a spirit of "All we are saying is give peace a chance".

    p.s.

I also thx for posting :)

  • y would u even say that lol. get over yerself.

  • dude. My dad was in nam from 1970 to 1973; the "ending" part of it for the US millitary.

  • I was there. Best memories of my life.

  • Amazing footage for those of us born a little later than the generation depicted here.

This needs to be in an archive for future generations.

Thank u so much for posting.

I feel almost like I was there.

    An easy 5 stars.
