hmm.. never thought about making a rim that way.. but (from an engineering standpoint) it seems like the rim would hold up just fine when youre layering them like bricks and glueing it together... i may have to give that a try
The first half dozen block rims I laboriously smoothed and rounded by hand. Now I have a means of turning them and can use progressively finer sandpaper. The trick is to center the rough rim on the steel plate that turns so the rim is as evenly round as possible. I just bought a scraper and will try that instead of, or in conjunction with, sandpaper. Not sure if it will work on a turning surface.

Looks good! Like the tip for tightening up open joints. I bet I use that some time. Do you turn your rims, or round them up some other way?
