  • Hey um... I like your videos. You're really smart and the stuff you say can help people become better people. I could say more, but ethics really isn't my realm and I don't know what I'm talking about ^_^

  • No, Thank YOU. :)

  • When I finally questioned two years ago as a teenager and left my religion I was ostracized by my parents, ex-friends and community. I began to regret my decision because I used to be mocked everyday and called "confused" and "brainwashed", I was treated like a joke though I knew deep inside I was not wrong, I lost quite a lot of confidence.

I am so happy that I came across this channel, it gave me not only knowledge but strength, knowing there's people who I can relate to. Thank you. :)

  • I take it that you're not much of a fan for mathematics?

  • Qualia, thank you for sharing your fantastic mind. Your channel has been really valuable to me and I will continue to recommend it to friends. I was dominated by superstition and paranoia for years. Astrology, psychics and phantoms were everyday parts of my life. I don't miss them one bit. I love this new, clear vision full of new possibilities, I love learning without being horribly hindered by a lack of critical thinking. Thanks again.

  • Just found your channel today and now about 20 hours later, I have watched most of your videos, lol. I thank you and the world thanks you for for your beautifully rendered videos. Very informed and straight to the point, they are magnificent, for lack of a better term. I will do my best to contribute by telling everyone I know about your channel. Maybe someday we can rid the world of the terrible affliction known as religion. Hmmm, Religion Rehab?, that may be a good business idea, hahaha.

  • No, thank you. :)

  • I'm so glad I found your vids. I hope I can get involved in a few collaborative projects this year if I have time after school and my regular vids. Also, your voice is nice :)

  • In 2 years you've made nearly 40,000 new subscribers! And 100% deserved ones, at that. You need more recognition for your brilliant work/

  • You sir (creator of these videos) are one of my all time heros. I'm not even exaggerating. What you are doing, in the making of these videos, is one of the most noble, righteous and honourable acts I can think of. To encourage enlightenment amongst people as opposed to ignorance, as some people try to teach, is one of the greatest things an individual can do in our society. This is an example of a contribution one can make to aid in our species movement to the next level of being. THANK YOU!

  • Its so lovely to see a healthy support group ^_^

  • Really thank you for your videos. Although I knew how to think critically it never occurred to me to think deeply about my own faith and why i have it. Well your videos have released me from the prison known as evangelical Christianity. I realize now how psychologically abusive it is and still struggle with that. But I feel freer than I ever had before in my life. Exchristian, now atheist 19years.

  • @angelchik54 Thanks, angelchik, for your kind words and for sharing your experience. It can be scary, can't it, to realise only once we've left a situation, how damaging it was for us. It's heartening to hear about your move towards freedom. I hope that healthy feeling continues for you.

  • @QualiaSoup Oh it has. Edit above. Christian for 19years, now atheist for a few months.

  • @QualiaSoup Angelchik54 is a great example of my previous comment. I'm truly moved! I have been using your videos and going over some watch tower magazines now for 2 months with 2 really nice 'Jehovah's witnesses.' Between your videos and looking up all the actual quotes and references from the bibliography. I systematically showed them how they were being lied too. Furthermore, I demonstrated how it is not harmful to believe in evolution. I feel I could not have done it without your videos!

  • great videos keep it up

  • Great health and energy bro....please keep it up...I need you!

  • You paint, you compose, you write fantastically elegant, thought-provoking discourses. Sometimes i wish i were homosexual

  • @lo2enge You're very kind, lo2enge. Thanks very much. ;^>

  • @lo2enge I am gay, do you think I have a chance?...xD

"you wish you were a homosexual"?....Well, at least that kinda proves that homosexuality isn't a choice like many homophobes still believe....though one anecdotal example isn't evidence, if I understood one of QualiaSoup's vids correctly...^^

  • @Varoonmg :D

apologies if my comment came across as homophobic in any way, i didn't mean it to, i was trying to express in the strongest terms i could my admiration for QualiaSoup (and his brother, TheraminTrees)... i abhor bigotry in all its forms, and i have met very few gay chaps (and chapesses) that i dislike.

Fair point about anecdotal evidence, but there is plenty of empiric evidence that demonstrates homosexuality isn't a choice as well :)

  • @lo2enge Oh don't you worry, your comment was not in the least way homophobic....:)

I also really like their vids, they are concise, crystal clear and it's always hard not to agree with them....their power of persuasion lies in the facts they present so well....:P

Being gay comes as naturally to some as being straight to others, happy to find that you and many others agree with that fact...:))

    Good luck

  • I've spent the morning watching your videos and I have just subscribed. I very much appreciate your work in developing clear, concise, logical and funny videos on these topics.

  • I am a fan bro. Thank you for your videos. Very clear and very interesting. Can't wait for more.

  • Id like to thank you for not just correcting the scientific wrongs in the creationist community but also going after their moral arguments

  • You music fitted perfectly to Theramin trees video, excellent.

    well done.

  • You are amazing brother. Your clarity amazes me and your ability to conceive that on video too.

  • Thanks very much, my friend. I really appreciate it.

  • This channel is my oasis from the willfully ignorant all around us. Thanks for the recommendations in this video. I will be checking each and every one of them out.

  • I also love your brother. Your both brililant.

  • QualiaSoup- You are amazing, I am extremely glad I found your videos. First one, and I was hooked. I can relate to every single one of your videos. I can learn more than I knew originally. Or just agree with the entire thing. I wish you the best luck in life. I'm proud to be subscribed to you sir.

  • That's extremely kind of you, Onecentnickel. Thanks very much! I'm delighted you've been relating to my videos so much. Welcome to the channel. ;^>

  • I subscribed like 2 or 3 days ago when I accidentally discovered 1 of your videos which was just amazing so by now I've seen them all.

  • I've only subscribed a week ago or so, when i was told you had just released a new video and i said "Qualiawho?" it only took the first minutes to realize i had found one of my favorite youtubers ever. Thank you for you brilliant work, please keep them coming.

  • Thanks very much for your kind words, Ultra4. They're truly appreciated. (Time permitting, I'm hoping to get 3 more uploaded before the end of the year.)

A warm welcome to the channel. ;^>

  • @QualiaSoup I too realized in... I don't know the first 30 seconds of the first of your videos or so that I struck gold when I found your videos! I subscribed the next minute

  • Thank us? THANK YOU!

    What beautiful and informative videos!

  • Dear Mr Soup,

I thank you most sincerely for your outstanding videos relating to the exercising of clarity of thought.

I regard your material as important directives for all serious students of whatever discipline(including theology)

I'm doing my best to disseminate the valuable principles you describe.

  • Nice trunks.

  • I would like to tell you almost everything the other users already did; but what would be the point? Instead I will tell you this: we all have something very rare in common and this is definitely a crowd I would like to exchange thoughts with. Any idea on how we could all meet (or virtually meet) and have debates on various subjects?

I see hard work on these videos and, if I may, Id like to say its time well spent.

Evolution-wise... I wish you all successful breeding ;-)

  • I'm very, very glad that I somehow found your channel. I've just spent the last long bit watching through all of your videos, and agreed with just about every word that came out of your mouth.

Thanks sharing your knowledge with others, and keep doing so.

  • cant wait till my son (2) sees Instruction manual for life...very, very well done

  • I have to agree with coldcell417 the truly refreshing part of your video series is the austere logic with which you treat an issue. Theses are very enjoyable.

  • The things you post are by far the cleanest, clearest, non confrontational explanation of heathly logic I have ever heard. Odd as it may seem your videos have given me a little bit of hope for humanity. Thank you sooo much for these videos. PLEASE keep them coming!

  • That's a very great compliment, Coldcell. I really appreciate it. Thank you. I do intend to continue making videos, but I'm delighted you've enjoyed the ones I've made so far. Cheers. ;^>

  • For some of us you state the obvious, but its always nice to see people fighting for intelligence. Keep it up mate, you do make a difference.

  • Your video's are amazing QualiaSoup. If I had the means and the patients to make videos I would have made them the same way. Straightforward, exact, intelligent and entertaining. Thank You for the this channel.

  • Thanks very much, Alex. I really appreciate that.

A warm welcome to the channel.

  • Very nice... glad I subscribed, now to check out that "Instruction Manual" video.

  • You are such a magnificent human being!!

  • Qualia- Please make more of your vids mobile friendly! :)

  • What - suspended above babies cots?

  • I did try that early on, Joey. My verdict - and the strong verdict of all the friends I asked - was that these particular videos aren't suitable for that medium.

  • Arghhh! We're still freezing our asses of in chilly old New England! Brrrrrr

  • "Brrrrr"

I'll second that, Quinn! We *were* just starting to thaw here, but I woke up this morning to a silver city... 8-Z

  • I've just finished watching all of your videos, and loved every one of them. I'm delighted to count among your many subcribers.

  • Thanks very much, Photodube! That's very kind of you. I'm delighted to welcome you to the channel.

  • AMAZING PIANO WORK :D

  • Thanks, Matt! ;^>

  • No thank you...

    Awesome music

  • TheReasonWhyGuy,

Agreed. This is one of the most relaxing piano pieces I've ever heard.

  • Its both relaxing and dramatic.

  • "This is one of the most relaxing piano pieces I've ever heard."

I'm delighted, Ercular. Thank you, and welcome to the channel.

  • Thanks QualiaSoup for the shout out! The pleasure is ours watching your thoughtful and concise videos.

We are still trying to make time for wrapping up our last few videos in the current series.

They have been delayed, but they *are* coming!

    Congrats on 1,400 subs!

  • Thank *you*, Holysinecure!

I'm eagerly anticipating your next videos. And 'current series' hints at even more of your superior work beyond your 'Honest Search'. Yay!

Happy 2009 to you both! ;^>

  • That was a nice beach! I though all english beaches were pebbles!! :-P

I'm really looking forward to your collaboration videos and your ones on psychology :-)

  • This was actually Portugal, Stasi. I had a New Year dip in the English Channel once and it's not something I think I'll ever feel the need to repeat(!) ;^>

    Cheers, and happy 2009!

  • ah, Portugal! haven't been, but sounds nice. It's nice to know that my schema of English beaches still holds! Now I don't have to use brainpower assimilating new ideas about them :-)

There's a lot of things that I've liked about England when I've been but I can't say the beaches are included (though i'm not a huge fan of beaches anyway, even the nice ones here) :-)

  • "Now I don't have to use brainpower assimilating new ideas about them"

Lol. Parts of Cornwall and Devon are glorious, but much of the South East English coast is only really enjoyable if there's a *tinge* of masochism in your character... ;^>

  • and a happy new year to you too qsoup!

  • Thanks, Drake. Have a great 2009!

  • wow. 1400 three days ago, and already 1581 today! At this rate you'll outgrow Venomfangx by the middle of next month! :))

keep up the good work. brought here by hairyreasoner

  • He he, thanks, Lennyhipp! ;^>

And welcome to the channel. I was very honoured by Hairy's shout out.

  • Congratulations on 1400 subscribers (of whom I am one).

  • Thanks, Larry! As well as a subscriber, you're also a continuing inspiration.

  • Hi Mr. Handsome ;-)

I wish you a happy 2009 and much inspiration!

  • Lol!

Hey, Tico! The wish the same to you and yours, my friend. Happy New Year! ;^>

  • No! How horrible for you, Tim. I hope you're properly (literally) on the mend and you have a healthy 2009(!)

  • Oh and all my friends and I really like the coincidence and faith cake videos a whole lot as well!

  • Do you have a Myspace profile? I've had 'Instruction Manual for Life' on my Myspace page for a few weeks now, and posted it as a bulletin so 7,000+ other people could also experience it and they've loved it. Words don't do it justice so I'll just say it has to be seen.

On Youtube I'd highly recommend the "Foundational Falsehoods of Creationism" videos by AronRa, just thought I'd share.

  • I'm delighted you've all been enjoying the videos, Fegu. Thanks for telling me. It's always rewarding to know when people respond well to the work.

I agree, AronRa's series is superb. I've been following his excellent channel for many months.

  • Looking forward to your new year of videos... cheers!

  • I love your vids. Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing the other youtube sites. I show your vids to my family friends and co workers. Take care and hope you and your family have a great 2009. Peace

  • Thank you, Khmer. That's truly appreciated.

And may I wish you and yours a happy and healthy New Year also. ;^>

  • Subscribed! Thank Hairyreasoner. I'd jump off a cliff if he told me to... depending on a few things, namely if there was water below. Also, your channel looked really sweet.

  • Well done mate on your sub-count. That Instructional manual looks pretty good. you're like a great little discovery to me. I steal your arguments all the time.

  • Thanks very much, Aiyic! Most appreciated.

  • Awesome! I look forward to your next videos.

  • Cheers, AWAKEN!

  • CONGRATULATIONS on 1400 and looking so good in your swimsuit. Loved the whole "diving into 2009" bit at the start. I'm a fan of most of the channels you mentioned (especially Miss ThinkMorePink, fast becoming an official YouTube celebrity); the balance I don't know, but will check out because your recommendation is enough for me. You and Theramin are two of my very favorite YouTubers. As for you swearing off the flower pot cover series, I'm verklempt, but I'll learn to deal with it. ;-)

  • *squeals* Oh how I adore you, :P

  • The feeling is mutual, dahlink. :-)

  • "CONGRATULATIONS on 1400 and looking so good in your swimsuit."

Lol! Thanks, Prof. The sun was as glorious as it looked for you in Florida, but the Atlantic was freezing: there was about 0.004 seconds between my dive at the beginning and my retreat at the end!

"You and Theramin are two of my very favorite YouTubers"

I really appreciate your kind words, my friend. If you can think of any textile-based videos I could make to quell your verklemptitude, don't hesitate to let me know. ;^>

  • "The sun was as glorious as it looked for you in Florida, but the Atlantic was freezing...."

This is why I feel an artificial body of water always has a leg up on the ocean or other natural bodies of water -- a pool can be heated. That said, the writing in the sand at the start was great, and one can't get that at a pool. Life truly is a series of trade-offs, eh? lol OK, I'm off to make my list of verkleptitude-quelling textile-based videos right now.

  • "This is why I feel an artificial body of water always has a leg up on the ocean or other natural bodies of water"

Yessiree! From now on, wintry oceans are for charity fundraising moments only(!)

"OK, I'm off to make my list of verkleptitude-quelling textile-based videos right now."

Lol! When you put it like that, somehow it sounds slightly 'niche'...

  • "When you put it like that, somehow it sounds slightly 'niche'."

    LOL!

  • That's cold, come on! We just had three days of -20F below zero with wind chills from -30 to -55 below.

Love your videos and thanks for the info.

  • im 99% sure this is the best channel on youtube ! :) (i only say that because, well, we all know u can't be 100% sure of anything). But for all intents and purposes you sir, are awsome! :)

  • Lol!

"But for all intents and purposes you sir, are awsome!"

Thanks very much, ateap0tist! (Great username! ;^>)

  • thanks for introducing me to other thinking youtubers..

  • It's my pleasure, a300pilotster - they're all great channels.

  • Congratulations! You deserve 1400 more subscribers... your videos are always brilliant.

And cheers for the mention too... much appreciated

  • Cheers, Dave. And thank *you*, my friend.

  • Let me get this right. You *wrote* the score for the TheraminTree's 'instruction manual for life'?. Not just played it, but wrote it. If so, that's awesome.

  • Yep, I wrote and played it, AlmightScoop. (I only ever use my own music, to avoid copyright issues.)

I'm delighted you liked it so much. ;^>

  • !yes!, I highly recommend: holysinecure

  • Here's to a fantastic year, Qualia! Glad to have you back making videos.

  • Thanks, Medius.

I hope it's a fantastic one for you too, my friend. ;^>

  • Looking forward to it Soup!

  • Cheers, Tom! ;^>

  • I love you.

  • Oh, you! ;^>

    Lol! Thanks, Gramps.

  • I look forward to viewing your videos in 2009.

  • Thanks, Jebus.

  • the only reason I subscribed was for the 40 part macrame series though...

    I've been jipped

  • Haha flowerpot holders. Awesome.

Looking forward to the new videos and I hope your subscriber base continues to grow!

  • Thanks, Aleximus! ;^>

  • Wow, are you one of the polar bear members or something? Can't wait for more videos either. Yours are awesome.

  • Im sure theyd have me after this! Cheers, HD ;^>

  • Wow, thanks for the shout out! This is by far, the coolest video I'll ever be featured in.

I guess it's all down-hill from here, eh?

By the way, I love the chord progressions in both this video and Theramin's video. Gratz on 1400, mate. You deserve it!

  • Lol! Paul, you have an *outstanding* channel, and I know so many people will enjoy discovering your work as I did.

Thanks very much for your compliment, my friend, and a happy New Year to you and yours.

  • Damn! I subscribed only for the macrame flowerpot holders...

  • It was a brutal decision, Gildor, with much soul-searching ;^>

  • For some reason, watching that beach scene keeps on reminding me of V Wood's schoolgirl channel swim! But thankfully you came back!! ;8)

  • Lol! Theramin, if only Id had her foresight and smeared on the goose fat!! ;^>

  • I hope someday soon I can collaborate with you again :) You are just too amazing for words, my dear.

  • I look forward to it, Shan. Youre an inspiration. ;^>

  • Just recently subscribed and looking forward to some quality reason and straight talk. I'll check out Hairy as well, looks good.

  • Thanks, Saxmanchiro.

I'll check out Hairy as well, looks good.

    You wont be disappointed(!)

  • Wow, nice production value.

  • Cheers, Sy!

  • Very impressive! Congratulations to you, of course....BUT also to the 1400 of us who get to enjoy your great vids!

  • Thank very much, 2bsirius! ;^>

  • Can someone be 'grateful' without directing it some entity? I am — I'm grateful for you existing and being the most amazing brother I could ever have wished for. Loads of love, always xx

  • You know I feel exactly the same, Theramin. I couldnt imagine a more wonderful brother and friend. All my love, always xx ;^>

  • Happy 2009, 'Soup!

I'm so glad to see that the word about you is spreading. It contributes to my optimism about the human race. ; )

Your list of recommendations has some old faves and some new names I am eager to check-out.

I am Looking forward to seeing more of you soon.

  • And a happy New Year to you, Sophie! I hope its a wonderful adventure for you and Im looking forward very much to hearing all your recent news when things have settled down a bit for you.

I feel the same optimism whenever you pop into my mind. ;^>

  • congrats mate you deserve every subscription and more!

  • Cheers, Jesse. That means a lot coming from you.

  • looking forward to the new videos! I'm now suffering beach envy.

  • Lol! You wouldnt have suffered Atlantic Ocean envy - take it from me(!) ;^>

    Thanks, Kal!

  • !hola Doug,

Say are you playing the music on this video?

Your soundtrack on "Instruction Manual" was quite beautiful, ya know...

  • Oh, now I see your note in the info section...

    Once again, truly beautiful playing!

  • Cheers, a2z! Truly appreciated, my friend. ;^>

  • Can't wait to see your new stuff this year, will be looking forward to it.

Am checking out that instruction manual as i type this.

  • Thanks, TruckleShuffle. I saw your comment on the video and Im delighted you enjoyed it.

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!

As a new subscriber im definitely looking forward to many more videos you have in store for us.

    mike

  • Thanks very much, Mike, and for all the kind channel comments you've left. They've been most appreciated. I look forward to seeing more from you too(!)

  • Happy new year, congrats on subs and looking forward to your next video! Be well

  • Thank you, Kristoly, and a happy 2009 to you!

  • Your powerful collaboration made me think of a quote made by Barry Manilow.

"When you remember me, it won't be because of all the great melodies and arrangements. It'll be because I made you feel something... which is really what it's all about."

So many thanks to you both for using your talents to touch us all deeply.

  • EMTRUE, I'm honoured by your compliment, and both Theramin and I were deeply touched by the kind comments you left on the Instruction Manual video. Thank you.

A happy New Year to you and your family. ;^>

  • I like you a lot, but a speedo is a fashion no-no. Keep up the superb work. :-)

  • The temperature of that water, I should have had a full thermal wetsuit(!)

    Cheers, Frank. ;^>

  • i will consider you tragically under subscribed even if you ever hit 6 billion,i will in fact at that point demand that we build powerful transmitters in order to beam your videos to alien civilizations.

and thank you so much for the shout out and kind words.

  • Lol! But please don't transmit to Altair IV. We've just had new flooring put down and the last thing I want's a limitlessly powerful projected force scuffing up the carpet...

Alex, yours is one of my favourite channels. Time after time when I watch your videos, I just think 'Yep, you nailed it.... yep, you nailed it'(!)

  • 1400, and methinks ye earned each one. Congrats, QS, and have a great new year.

  • Thanks very much, Liberty. Your kind words are most appreciated.

    "have a great new year"

And to you and yours, Sir!

  • Actually I'm really selling you short by only praising your your visual and intellectual talents in my other comment, your music for instruction manual for life is one of the most beautiful scores I have heard in years!

  • Thanks so much, bC2! I take that as a very great compliment indeed coming from someone of your talents! xxx

  • congratulations!

  • Thanks, Cozmik!

  • You are too humble QS, you did great with the score.

  • That's very kind, JT. Thanks, I appreciate it. ;^>

  • Happy 2009, Doug. I look forward to your videos and will definitely check your recommendations. Thank you for being so damn clever. Off to watch TheraminTrees' animation now. :)

  • And a happy 2009 to you and yours, Bel. ;^>

I'm almost envious of people who've not seen TheraminTrees' video. It's such a shame you can't discover things like that twice(!)

  • Congratulations Doug! Your videos are always a visual and intellectual treat and I can't wait for the next ones! xxx

  • I only wish I could subscribe more than once!

  • Hehe! Cheers, Astounded. ;^>

  • Congrats on 1400+ Doug! You are inspiration to the kind of sensibility and reson we should all use when addressing the world and people in it, especially in the realm of religion. I look for ward to many more wonderful vids from you my friend. Talk soon. :-)

  • I really appreciate that, Matt. What can I say? The feeling's mutual, my friend. On all counts. ;^>

  • Only 37 parts? Damn!!! I was really looking forward to a 40-part series. Oh well, I guess we'll all just have to put up with your other topics instead...........for now ;-)

  • Perhaps I could fill it out with a couple of pieces on raffia lampshades, Betty. ;^>

  • i love hairyreasoner!

looking forward to more fantastic videos from you : )

  • Thanks, Nikki! ;^>

    Hairy's awesome.

  • i want a nice beach :(

  • The beach was gorgeous, but the sea was *icy* - I mean icicle-dagger-stabbingly cold(!)

  • Thanks for the recommendations QS. I'll be sure to check em out. Keep up the good work!
