  • Great horse, I guessed the Reserve Champion and Champion. Great JOB!

  • @sheik411 Thanks for watching, we have so much more on our YouTube page, and you haven't seen nothing till you check out our website Total Horse Channel!

  • People need to give arabs a chance, they have so much personality and the majority of them are not wild and crazy. I've been around arabs since the day I was born and showed at youth up until I aged out this year and they are flashy and beautiful. other horses are beautiful too and you don't find alot of the arabian people bashing other breeds. These horses are incredible and my western horse is the most amazing boy in the world!!! I LOVE ARABIANS

  • I love how Arabians look in Western Pleasure they are very flashy and eye catching....I know alot Of Arabs that are amazing western horses and actually prefer it to english... I also wish that people wouldnt be so hateful toward this breed of horse... if it wasnt for Arabs you wouldnt have your horse.... So please think about that before you say negative things... and maybe do some research.. cause if you hate arabs then in reality you hate your horse... Period.

  • ANNDDD when i was at the app nationals [aps are crossed with qh, tb and arabs] i hardly saw anyy 4 beat lopes. they were mostly all natural and the ones with the 4 beat lopes did NOT place high.

  • ok for EVERYBODY who is crabbing about ARABIAN and QUARTE HORSE WESTERN PLEASURE!!!

actually qh are supposed to be collected too & the horses noses arent supposed to be close to the ground. i know cause i judge horses & got 2nd @ nationals with my team and got 2 individual 2nds. if arabs didnt have such a cresty neck they would look the same as qh just more collected. the qh judges like the natural lope buy everybody who shows qh like the 4 beat lopes.

  • I ride Arabians to(: and show with the AHA!!! I just LOVE this breed!!!! Pretty horse by the way!

  • Man Joe makes it look easy!

  • i show both paints and Arabians - IMO, this is the hardest discipline for the Arabs because they have to learn to stay bridled, meaning keeping their head in this position, on a long drape. I love the natural movement in the Arab WP and I am praying that QH and paints go back to a natural lope and headset rather than what they have now.

  • Not a fan of Western Pleasure, period, but I have to admit that Arabian WP is a TON better than stock horse WP.

  • I own and ride quarter horses and arabians i think they are both unique in their own way, but i think they have gotten a little carried away with quarter horses i mean their noses touching the ground it dont even look right i prefer my quarter horses paint to have a natural level head set.

  • Wow... so now QH trainers have infiltrated Arab Western Pleasure too??

Sorry, 20 yrs ago you would've seen even more beautiful and floatier horses, with balanced and elegant true collection, just prancing so smoothly and gorgeously around the ring.

TAKE A LESSON FROM THE HELL THAT AQHA HAS PRODUCED AND QUIT JACKING THEIR HEADS DOWN!!!

  • Looks horrible but still looks better than WP classes from most stock breeds. Unfortunately its taking a turn towards that so now if only someone in a high place would have the goddamn sense to put the brakes for a screeching halt and do a U-turn, I could probably watch more than 1:00 of WP again.

  • Well, I do agree with you - horses are social creatures - Arabs just like every other horse... but what does that have to do this video? Why do people have to show them like this?

Arabs are my favourite breed of horses - and I own a Quarab myself - and I think they are full of spirit and grace - they should not be shown that way....

Or to cut it short: I prefer them look wild ;)

  • youtube is going to be famous for the catfights someday.

Arabians and QH have 1 common connection . . .THEY ARE BOTH HORSES.

There are great and bad horses in every breed, but come on, just because a horse is an arab doesn't mean they can't do western pleasure! I prefer the airy movements of the Arabian western pleasure to the trodding of a QH about to step on his nose. Now that is sick.

  • omg their not as preety as quarter horses

  • lol...i show paints and QHs western pleasure, and this is so UNIQUE!:D i ave never seen such a floating giat like this before in my life:D very pretty^^

  • LOVE LOVE LOVe your description on this Prowinda! So true! Arabians will snort and show off for for you but then they will drop their heads and walk over to you for an ear scratch.

Oh and saskgunner...my mare was a reiner and she carried her head like that...it just comes naturally to her.

  • There are spirited horses in every breed. I've shown english costume and yes you do get some crazy horses but generally the riders are in control of their horses and these horses just love to show but they don't get dangerously out of hand. Also there are bad training techniques in every breed i've heard some seen some stuff on quarter horse training that I would never do.

  • I've been showing on the arabian circuit for over 10 years but have also riden quarters, paints, thourghbreds, saddlebreds, ponies, warmbloods. & in response 2 all the collection comments each breed is diffrent. Saddlebreds & morgans have western classes but their heads are set diffrently. Many breeds do western but they all do it a diffrently & they all should be appreciated for what they do. U can't really say which breed is better when they all go diffrently & compete against their own breed.

  • when was this video taken? do you know what the horse at 40 sec. name was? he looks like a horse at my barn his name is Charlie (Evetrone...it is his show name not how you spell it tho..i dont know how :p)he is a 2 time world champ in WP! I LOVE HIM SOOOOO MUCH!!

  • 2006 Nationals, give me a few days I'll pull my book out and look it up 4 u

  • ok thx :P

  • @horsiegall4ever This is from 2006 US Arabian & Half-Arabian Nationals. Thanks for watching,

  • This is pointless. It's ridiculous that people want to "bash" Arab WP, because you know they have their take on it. They ride WP so that it compliments the Arab. Have respect for one another! BUT, this also goes for those in the Arab world. It's rude for AQHA people to bash the Arabian, but it's JUST as rude for the Arabian world to bash us. There's no need for rude comments. Sure, there's boring, mediocre QHs out there, but I'll laugh if you say there are NO bad arabs either.

  • Arabs do not immatate qhs. Its only a little obvious, because they have a personality and flare. If you don't think arabs can't do wetsern events think again go watch some working cow. They out run and out think your quarter horses.

  • Quarter horses are flat. Incase you havn't noticed.

Arabians have gorgeous long swooping necks. This head carrige shows off their necks. If you take the bit out of course their headset will change.

BECAUSE they are ONLY trained to do THIS in WESTERN PLEASURE.

Reining horses dont do this, working cow doesn't do this.

  • personally, i like arabs to have flashier movements and higher headsets than this, but i guess it's up to the arab show world...

  • Somewhat false - collection, for an arabian.

    They're bred that way.

You wouldn't go asking just ANY horse to move like that.

  • I ride western but these people ruined the arabians' head carriage!

  • Amen to that!!

  • you know what all of you people all horses are crazy the horses that you see arnt crazy are the ones that have had their spirit TRAINED out of them these horses are beautiful and who cares how they get them to do what they get them to do i knwo more than once most of you people have done something to msake your horse do something a ertain way qh or Arabian

  • im sory i have to say this but i hate arabs and i think they look horid under western saddles, pracy english horses shouldent b imatating QH

  • nah, if they were imitating qh, they would be strung out, and limping along on the forehand with their noses on the ground.

  • wat a bitch u obiosly no nothing about qh western pleasure

  • well if you dont like them then stop watching arab videos if you dont see how beautiful they are then obviusly they are to good for your eyes to view.

  • Why anyone would want a glorious Arab to imitate a quarter horse, I'll never know.

  • look stop bitching on about quarter horses they may not be your faveourite horse and arabs are not mine but u dont see me calling them horrible so just piss off and get a life

  • @ifeellikeageak922

qh come from arabians so theyre tech. not imitating them

  • Do you see horses in the paddock troting that slow with that kind of head carrige? I sure dont. If they were to trot any slower they would stop. Its a shocking gait, if you can call it a gait that they have them at.

  • I've trained my arabians with no training aids.. you just put a shank bit which gives them leverage and teach them to arch their back to slow down.. collection isnt evil.

  • The only thing unatural with arabian western pleasure is the over use of spurs.. they pinch the horses with the spurs making them slower and slower until their lope becomes unatural.

  • And QH people don't do the same thing??

  • A Wonderful presentation of the TOP TEN Arabians in the United States. Congrats' to all the people behind the scenes, that make the Top-10 Horses, what they are today...Keep up the good-hard work...

  • Its unnatural as it has been forced that way. I worked for a western pleasure stud in Indiana and saw some of the methods used to get that headset on a horse and its not right. Yes they have a different natural carriage to other horses but thats just wrong. I to own an Arabian and he dose not carry his head like that.

  • My horse Flash has gotten numerous Top Five and Ten in Arabian Western Pleasure, Huntseat, and Western Horsemanship. (all at Nationals) I am on a lower level than he and he is a very high quality horse. All I do to maintain his head set is a martingale and a snaffle. Nothing bad. And I realize some of these horses are 4-beating, but it looks alot better than Quarter Horse WP, right? I love how they have such a great amount of strength to keep their head in the same posistion.

  • well, i see that the arab will soon be cousin the the "peanut roller" 1/4 horses. how sad. i remember when the nose was to be no lower than the dock of the tail. again, how sad. glad im outta the biz...

  • It's funny how everyone one Youtube in so opinionated and get in little cat fights

  • Some Arabs are crazy, some Arabs aren't. It's the same with every breed. Most Arabs are just hot, and they have a reputation for that.

I've never owned one, but I've ridden plenty. I love them.

Although I'm not sure which is worse.. Arab pleasure or QH pleasure.

  • I really dont like their unnatural headsets.

  • Why do you say that it is unnatural? I think that it is no more so than many other disciplines. Arabians are built with long, arched necks, and that headset is very natural for them. Of course they are trained to hold it so consistently, but what horse isn't in high-level competition?

  • Their headset isn't unnatural. It's called collection.

  • Fascinating, and beautiful! I respect the training achievement of getting these big-motored Arabs to this level of Western Pleasure. They're very pretty and great fun to watch. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • sorry but I must disagree with you. I don't think that Arabians are cray, but they are really spirted. It isn't easy turning any breed of horse into a western pleasure horse. It takes time and training. And not every horse (including arabians) can't do western pleasure. And just becuase these Arabians are going around nicely in a ring, doesn't mean that once you take them out they will be the same horse. Any horse can be ok in the ring and go crazy once taken out.

  • I own Arabian horses and have been around many. I have met a lot of them that are bomb proof. There are spooky, crazy, wild, etc horses in every breed and dead headed horses in every breed. The poster of this video wasn't saying every Arabian can do WP, of course a park horse won't be found doing western (conformational limitations come to mind)! These horses have been specially bred for WP.

  • My Arabian and many I have known are great on trails, too. They are the #1 endurance horses and they wouldn't be if they were crazy and using all their energy up on spazzing out all the time.

  • Yes but on that note you can't say that all arabians are spooky either. I have ridden Arabians for a long time and I show them in native arabian classes and there are some spiretted ones but there are also good bomb proof ones. And there are also high strung quarter horses!

  • I'm not saying that ALL Arabians are this way. I'm just saying that most of them are very high spirited. I have a TB gelding who is just as spirited as some Araibians I have worked with. Just basicly depends on how they are handled and what not.

  • I beg to differ I have 2 thoroughbreds that are completely insane but I trust my arabs with my life! I trail ride them I hane ribbons all around them I even show mounted native costume they are the most versitile breed out there I have had some Quarter Horses charge at me and even attack other horses even my ferrier that does reining says that my Arabs are calmer then any other horse hes done.
