10. This is not the first time I've detected a tone of her portraying herself as a victim of the press and the reason for her failure to hit the big-time
Is Hayes suggesting that she did not know that her guitarist was bullying people at all the clubs, that resulted in prohibiting her band from playing their again ?
Why didn't the press cover Hayes ? Would it be because people, including the press; dis-like bullies ? So bullies and Friends of bullies shouldn't expect co-operation ?
5. The San Francisco Chronicle Entertainment Magazine was the prefered medium for advertising up & coming entertainmen events and entertainment reviews in the 80's. I read the magazine every Sunday from cover to cover, and in particular looking for info about bands scheduled to play at clubs and theaters. And with a good eye, searching for "anything" Bonnie Hayes ala; The Punts, Fourth Down, Bonnie Hayes and the Wild Combo. She played at most places, but only once, a few only twice. Why ?
4. Hayes was a music e x t r a o r d i n a i r e !
Not just a very talented musician. Her song writing skills & singing were the best I've ever heard, then and now, and they should have made her famous, even more famous than Blondie.
But in Blondie's case, she had a guitarist that people liked, and well known for his kindness, even to strangers. Could the same be said about Hayes' guitarist ? I would love to ask that question of her in a public event such as the one in this video.
Beautiful... Brings back wonderful memories of my college years in the early 80's, watching Bonnie play solo sets in the SF piano bars. My buddies and I would savor every opportunity to catch to watch Bonnie work her magic with The Wild Combo in the small venues she'd play... Always from the front row. What I wouldn't give to have a DVD from one of those live shows... I (still) love your music Bonnie... Rock on
