Beautiful horses - I do not breed horses, been have been around them much of my whole life. I never heard of putting the stud in with the mare and baby - I always heard that was dangerous for the baby. Looks like you were right there though.
Horses aren't ever really "white" unless they are albino, with pink skin and eyes. All horses that lay people consider to be "white" are actually classified as grays. They are born a dark color: chestnut, black, brown, bay, etc. and then they lighten to gray over time that can eventually become what looks like white, but they still have dark eyes and dark skin. The mare is dappled because she is still "graying out", she will eventually be the same shade as the stallion.
@msjumpingqueenful Hmm, well, you don't sound like you know anything about horses, your original comment made you seem immature and like you didn't understand the behaviour of horses. I have 17 horses at the moment, 11 stallions, 2 colts and 4 mares, and I compete them all in everything from dressage, to showjumping, to jousting and stunt riding etc. I breed horses, and I teach riding lessons. I won't ask you a question, you might cheat :P Only joking, I trust you. Good luck with your mare :)
@msjumpingqueenful You know nothing about horses...do you...you don't wanna watch a decent, well-mannered stallion interacting with his mare and foal, doing what horses do, then don't click on a video that says "stallion turned out with his mare and foal".
He is one well-behaved stallion, especially around his foal. It's nice to see a stallion who has had a good upbringing and social life, and obviously knows the mare well. Unfortunately, my stallion (TB x Trakehner) isn't anywhere near as well-behaved, in any area...he was abused as a foal, seperated from his mother and other horses too quickly. The opposite of your handsome boy lol! He is a credit to you/whoever bred/trained him :) Plus, I can't wait to see how that cute little guy turns out!
Its obvious the stallion respects his mare and doesn't force her... and a very good show of how a stallion can be with a mare in heat without going hysteric.
Aww 1:42 is such a sweet, beautiful moment. I love how your stallion, mare and foal are such a happy perfect little family, they're beautiful. and your stallion is so gorgeous, if you plant a horn on him he'd look like a unicorn. he already looks so beautiful and magical though!
we bred my P.O.A. to an appaloosa and she's just days away from foaling im soo excited but the stallion wont get to see his foal haha poor guy... by the way your horses are gorgous :)
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen more beautiful than.... Well alot of stuff. Just gorgeous. Wonderful mare and stallion and the foal was just... Well AMAZING I have a horse and u wish she was as beautiful as your horses! Just amazing
@iBlingYoFace White, isn't a horse colour, it's grey (unless the horse has pink skin), in some breeds a horse will be born black and as it ages, the coat will become lighter :)
@tibbs100 wronggg. you will NEVER get a grey horse from two non grey parents. you will never get a palomino from two sorrels. you will never get a buckskin from two bays. the list goes on. Being the dad is a grey here and the mom is a grey that baby will be grey. the foal coat (the color he is now) would be his base color so if bred to a black later in life the foal would possibly be black or have a 50% chance to turn grey as grey is a modifier and changes the horse's base color.
@iBlingYoFace I'm pretty sure that all greys start out black and a good way to tell is that they have rings of white/grey around their eyes and the rest of them is black.
@iBlingYoFace White and dapple are both actually grey, and grey is a masking color. It masks the 'true' color of the horse. The dapples on a grey tell you what color the horse is "underneath" their grey coat (underneath meaning that the horse may be a black or bay, but they have the grey gene that makes their hairs white). Both horses may be black, and therefore have a black foal. Foals are born their base color, and if they are grey, their coats turn grey as they mature.
@iBlingYoFace probably either the white or the dapples parents had a black and they got a recessive gene but still held onto the gene for black and it came out in their foal. :D ya....its confusing but im in A.P. health so...... :D
@iBlingYoFace The mealy muzzle is what tells you that this horse will lighten up. Grey rarely starts grey. It is a dominent gene that slowly flecks out whatever coat the horse is born with.
i love how you guys let him see his foal and how natural you let them breede. i hate it when they shank the mare and put the twitch on her and force her. its should be natural :]
I think that some people forget that if these horses were in the wild, the stallion would be with his foal from the first few days of its life. He clearly accepts the foal as his, and there is very little chance -if any at all- that the stallion will intentionally harm the foal. I personally love the fact that you allow your horses to live in a herd together without gender separation.
This video also shows that in a natural setting, the mare calls the shots. If she is not receptive and ready to breed, he'll just have to wait. BTW, I think the stallion belongs to the mare(s): to sire their foals and stand guard. In the open or a large enough pasture, a mare leads the herd, decides when to go, where, and how fast. But you already know this, I'm sure. Lovely horses.
The stallion is exited because this is the first day with his new foal and he hasn't been with the mare in ten days... on top of that she's in heat :) I think he had good reason for excitement ;)
The mare carries herself very proudly. And the stallion's barnyard ballet is impressive! That foal should be a great mover when he matures. He's a bay who appears to have inherited the graying gene from one or both parents. Mom also looks like a bay who has grayed out. What is Fabuloso's true color before he lost his pigment?
Such Nice looking horses!, I really love the looks of the Stalion! He is wonderful!!!, What are there breeds? I wish i could have my one Paint Gem breed, but saddly we dont have the room, I know she would make a nice foal if we did. but wonderful hoses you have!♥ there colors are very vibrant! wish i could have my horses as clean as your seem to be... they love the mud...diry..anything messy XP
@jillysgem Don't let them out together again?! I think they would be very upset ;) the horses lives in a herd all year long, it's only the first couple of weeks when the foals are newborn we keep them apart, and we do this to give mom a break as well as getting the foals used to humans. The stallion is a good dad to his babies and is a big part of their upbringing.
@aridxxluv Yes, I do realize that the risk exists; the stallion could kill the foal. There is also a risk that the mare could kill the foal. Or that the foal runs around, slips and breaks his neck. All we can do is try to minimize the risks as much as possible and that goes for all horses, not just foals. I wouldn't let just any stallion out like this, but this guy has lived in a heard most of his life, he knows the mare and as you can see; he listens to her. He is a great dad to all his foals.
@aridxxluv So nature seperate wild horses from their fathers.......? They know what they are doing, or they wouldn't do it... There is a risk for me to walk up and down the stairs everyday, but I still do that don't I ???
@aridxxluv do you realize that horses live in herds in the wild, and also that the mare would protect her foal? Most stallions don't kill their own foals
I love how the foal is so dark when his dam and sire are so light :) (And of course I'm aware that they lighten with maturity) I work with a horse who as a foal was very dark, and is now about the color of your mare. I love the way they change into such beautiful adults :)
The foel is like "Ma, what the fuck is this guy doing?!?!" The stallion is like "Hey, bitch, you're backwards!!!!" And the mare is like "Fucker!! Get off me, you already knocked me up once!!"
The Dapple Grey Horse -Which Im Guessing Is The Mare- Is Very Beautiful. I Adore Horses, And Would Very Much Like To Have One. P.S. The Stallion Is A Feisty One. Haha Running Around And Whatnot.
okay ik lippizaners grey out wen they get older, but is it the same andalusions?, so therefore Fabuloso is elderly and Lebera is middle aged and obciously then Bravo is a foal, but very beutiful and well trained (i saw the training help :))
@tmustang94 All grey horses will eventually turn white, if they live long enough. Horses grey out at different rates and in different ways (fleabitten vs dappled), but the grey gene leaches out color bit by bit (minus any bloodmarks).
@Billishotheismine well about when they have foals, racehorse breeders will breed their racing broodmares just 2 weeks after her previous foal was born....
HAHAHAHAHAA!!! I love it he is trying so hard you can practically hear him yelling "LOOK AT ME!!!" He is stunning such great elevated movement, he practically does a capriole on his own will :D.
He did a great job ;) the mare got pregnant, and so has all his other mares gotten. He is just careful after having beeing told (in a very clear way) that no means NO ,and yes very quickly can turn into a NO (escpesially when they have a foal with them to look after!). He really understand women :)
At 2:45 it looks like the stallion tries to mount the mare from the wrong direction, and then he just stands there with his front legs on her rear end. It might seem like the stallion does not know what to do but he actually knows exactly what he is doing. He is testing the mare to see if she is going to allow him to mate while staying out of the way in case she kicks. Stallions sometimes nibble on the mare's legs to make sure she is not going to kick. Thanks for posting this video.
even though the mare's in heat, she wouldn't allow the stallion to breed with her because she's got the foal. these ppl know what theyre doing. its important to have the stallion, mare and foal together in order for the foal to recognise the ranking order and how to behave around the stallion. remember this is all natural because this is what happens in the wild.
actually thats wat they are sposed to do. my cousin once caught a mare with a yearling, a weanling, a foal, and she was prego. theres safety in #'s in the wild.
mare::: I don't think this is realy the way we did it last time...
stallion:: your right *unmounts*
*mounts back on later in the video*
mare:: get off me fool *twists and turns*
*stallion tries staying on*
Stallion:: no! I shall get what i want NOW
*tries staying on, fails to do so* hahaha when i grow up i want to start a stable and maybe within the first few years i'll have little foals running around the paddocks with their mama's

The Dapple Grey Horse -Which Im Guessing Is The Mare- Is Very Beautiful. I Adore Horses, And Would Very Much Like To Have One. P.S. The Stallion Is A Feisty One. Haha Running Around And Whatnot.

okay ik lippizaners grey out wen they get older, but is it the same andalusions?, so therefore Fabuloso is elderly and Lebera is middle aged and obciously then Bravo is a foal, but very beutiful and well trained (i saw the training help :))
tmustang94 1 year ago
@tmustang94 All grey horses will eventually turn white, if they live long enough. Horses grey out at different rates and in different ways (fleabitten vs dappled), but the grey gene leaches out color bit by bit (minus any bloodmarks).

Why do stallion's breed with mare's who are pregnant or already have a foal? You think she would kick him.
Billishotheismine 1 year ago
@Billishotheismine well about when they have foals, racehorse breeders will breed their racing broodmares just 2 weeks after her previous foal was born....

@tmustang94 -
Okay, thank you.

@Extremelypunctual
He did a great job ;) the mare got pregnant, and so has all his other mares gotten. He is just careful after having beeing told (in a very clear way) that no means NO ,and yes very quickly can turn into a NO (escpesially when they have a foal with them to look after!). He really understand women :)

This is how breeding horses should be :) free range. i hate it when ppl tie up the mare and force it on her

@horses4evr3 Me too. In a human's world that would be rape. it should be natural.

horse courtship is a sticky affair, and it get more complicated when a foal is present.
jennyactress 1 year ago
At 2:45 it looks like the stallion tries to mount the mare from the wrong direction, and then he just stands there with his front legs on her rear end. It might seem like the stallion does not know what to do but he actually knows exactly what he is doing. He is testing the mare to see if she is going to allow him to mate while staying out of the way in case she kicks. Stallions sometimes nibble on the mare's legs to make sure she is not going to kick. Thanks for posting this video.

I think he's trying to impress the mare. Because I saw someone's horse do that!

even though the mare's in heat, she wouldn't allow the stallion to breed with her because she's got the foal. these ppl know what theyre doing. its important to have the stallion, mare and foal together in order for the foal to recognise the ranking order and how to behave around the stallion. remember this is all natural because this is what happens in the wild.
17lauren90 2 years ago
they let them sometimes my mare let the stallion breed her after her colt was born but that colt died :(
xevanescencexloverx6 2 years ago
but aswell she only just had a foal let that grow up a bit before puttin her "under the heat" again !
sophieaw97 2 years ago
if you pause it at 1:04 good pic of stallion :D
sophieaw97 2 years ago
Mares can be such sluts. Just had a kid and already being in heat again. Tsk tsk! :P
Darkwolf1982 2 years ago
actually thats wat they are sposed to do. my cousin once caught a mare with a yearling, a weanling, a foal, and she was prego. theres safety in #'s in the wild.
