@JONARD72 Start sucking cause I can honestly tell you it was shot with the 28-135 f/3.5-5.6. I bought the camera right when it came out (switched from nikon so i had no lenses) and made it on iMovie. I didn't even buy the 50 1.8 until sometime in January 2010 or something.
@RayLovesRomania Keep in mind this was only using the 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 , and if you note the date the video was uploaded the camera came out in mid-october 2009
if i was u id forget the kit lense and snatch up a 50mm f1.8 they are cheap as chips and they look so much better in the low light shots...just gotta practice ur manual focus skills
@roborovskihamsters Yes, handheld, although I am making a steadicam right now. I just need to balance it out and I'll be posting it right after I'm done.
just shot a second video using this camera, only had the camera two weeks, it is a great camera to shoot with...check it out Ls centz i lost my baby and Ls voicemail...
good stuff dude. download iMovie HD 6, it was and is better than 09...
don't be afraid of 30p.....24p gets a lot of hype but its better to shoot with the extra frame rate and then when you have a final edit you can drop it down to 24 if you want...but do that if you are going to do a film print and show it in a theatre....30 p is fine for what u are doing...keep it up.
im also using imovie 09 to edit my 7d vids, its just to bad that imovie does not support 24p. it puts the 24p in a 30p timeline. I probably will be getting final cut pro soon.
oh wow, i actually didn't know that.. i really want to learn how to use final cut pro, but the time constraints with college aren't really helping hehe. What lenses do you have by the way?
Hehe, i own the 17-50mm tamron and canon 50mm 1.8 as well. My 7D is on the way (hope to get it tomorrow). I think i'm getting the falcon fisheye 8mm as well soon. Thinking about building a diy steadicam too... Just sold my good old 400d yesterday.
hey isn't it illegal to record in the subways? lol i think you should try to either hold the camera more steady/use a tripod or use motion tracking of some sort to keep your video not so shaky. Also I think the city woulda been better choice xP
Most of the footage was taken when I was going to school or on nights out, I didn't really intend for this specific video to be anywhere close to professional. I do have a tripod but I pretty much just took footage on my way to or from school, and bringing a tripod along with what I normally bring to school (textbooks, laptop, camera, notes, etc) would be overkill.
I do plan on making another video featuring NYC (like Times Square) over winter break so hopefully bringing a tripod with me should be no problem. Also, during editing I did some image stabilization but it zoomed in so much certain aspects of the shot got cut off so I decided to leave image stabilization off.

great video! did you shoot in 24p or 30p? were the speed ups done in imovie 09? any color correction?
ikicaq 2 years ago
speed ups were done in iMovie w/o stabilization, i shot mainly in 24p, and no color correction but i did use some iMovie filters (glow, sci-fi, etc)

ambroseeee 2 years ago
I just have two, EFS 18-200mm f/3.5-f/5.6 and EF 50mm f/1.8.
ikicaq 2 years ago
I just bought an EF 50mm f/1.8, i'm going pretty low budget right now since the camera was a pretty hefty investment.. do you have any flashes?
ambroseeee 2 years ago
the 50mm 1.8 is a good lens, cheap looking but makes great video and stills. no flashes yet. but ordered the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.
