  • A genuine Hollywood Legend and American National Treasure, Mickey, You will live forever when You Depart and deeply missed, May You live long and never be forgotten.

One of the greatest Actors I have ever seen on screen, Truly.

  • hes gone bonkers!

  • Nice guy

  • This man is a living legend, the last living entertainer of a wonderful era in our country that helped make America uniquely American. Give him a lot of love and respect. The truth is most likely neither you or I will ever touch his bootstraps in historical significance. I for one would prize an autograph from this icon. Some of these comments represent the mindless shame with which we treat our elders...as if our contributions had an expiration date on them.

  • What a lovely human being. I thought that was so sweet when he said, "She's my family". I love what he contributed to films, and I think our world is a better place for him having been here.

  • Elizabeth Taylor was married 8 times to 7 different people (Richard Burton twice). Mickey was married 8 times to 8 people, so he has married more people than Elizabeth has.

  • When he talks about Judy he sounds so sad but then..when he talks about how how MGM worked her to death he sounds angry.

  • he looks like the father of Hank Hill in king of the hill!

  • @kfki

I was thinking the same thing! He reminds me too of the Cotton Hill character!

  • I want them to make a movie about his life. He is the last great actors of a golden era we of our generation will never see :(

  • It's terrible to say, but I don't think he's all there...

  • This is really amazing. :-)

  • Mickey Rooney seems to be denying a lot of things during this interview, or he has a memory loss from aging.

Even his wife needed to correct him regarding Elizabeth Taylor's marriages.

  • Comment removed

  • He sounded pretty angry when he talked briefly about Judy Garland.

"They worked her to death", I assume he is referring to MGM studios.

  • Waykey Rooney

    Mickne Rooney ?

  • I don't live in US, but i know Mickey Rooney with his great career not so much his life...When I read some messages I think I missed something in his private life?

  • @MIKESOWELL is right. stop judging him based on his appearance and start judging him for the absolute lunatic he is lmao

  • I never cared for Rooney. He is either your cup of tea or he isnt.

I remember watching him play golf in the Bob Hope celebrity pro-am. He was chewing tobacco and spit an enormous mouthful on a putting green (which others would have to putt on).

From that moment on, I not only didn't like the guy, I HATED HIM!

  • A real super star!!! I never get enough of his movies and his characters. Go Mr. Rooney go!!!!

  • Oh boy, we him but he just wasn't ready for this interview!

  • What do you think you´ll look like at that age?

  • I am wondering how come Eva gardener married this plump ugly potato, disgusting

  • @kokokorina He wasn't 89 then. What do you look like?

  • @bogglerful I think I am handsome middle eastern 6ft, attractive person, when this plump potato was young, he was unattractive short faggy

  • @kokokorina Yeah. But you sound dumb.

  • @bogglerful He was married to eight beautiful women, including Ava Gardner, and made it to 90 years old and is still active. Something tells me that he doesn't give a rat's ass what you think.

  • @kokokorina Her name is spelled Ava Gardner.

  • @kokokorina

I'd jump at the chance to marry Mickey Rooney, even with the way he looks now. Just because he has one of the best spirits I've seen. He's amazing.

  • @MonroeMonster then I would pray for your mental health, EHHHHHHHHH

  • @kokokorina You should pray for yours. me thinks

  • @sclapione I am already blessed with a sound frame of mind, i doubt about you, you are only obssessed with this dwarf's celebrity status, worshipping celebrities is the cheapest substitue of acknoweldging the REAL loved around you, like your family parents and siblings.

  • @kokokorina Very interesting

    You know me ?

Because you couldn't be further from the truth lol moron

  • @kokokorina Do you always write that much shit ?

    Mystic Meg ?

  • @kokokorina That's so kind of you to pray for me. I'll do the same for you.

  • Comment removed

  • lmao... he worked as an impersonator of himself hahahaha

  • i adore mickey! he's amazing

  • i like the more innocent Ava with mickey rooney. they should have stayed together, but, then something inside of her didnt mesh well with his immaturity at the time so... (according to Lee Server's book, ) they had to part. **sigh**

  • It's good to remember the good o days back in the 20s and 40s those were the good o days when everyone got along.everyone trusted each other and that's when they had the good movies!!

Mickey Rooney is the best!!I hope he lives long and stays well!

  • @rosabaca21 Well thats the impression you get with movies back than rosa. But people didnt get along back than just like now. People were just as mean, uninhibited etc.The difference was most people didnt make it public back than.

  • @Dar70 my name isn't rosa...

  • @rosabaca21 Ummm you needed to tell me that 4 months after my comment??? So whats your point?? You use the name rosabaca21. So thats what you want to be called here at youtube. Correct?? If not use your real name.

  • @Dar70 bye : )

  • No offense, she calls him the last Golden Age star, but there are still quite a few left ... Doris Day, Olivia de Havilland, Maureen O'hara, Joan Fontaine, Esther Williams... To name a few! Also, Elizabeth was NOT married 11 times! Lol. Mickey married more than her...

  • I don't agree that he is angry...this man's resume is literally unmatched by any living entertainment icon. He has so much experience, knowledge, and of course talent that he has seen many roads of life that few will ever claim to have experienced. Classic Hollywood is represented in this man...he probably has more to say than he is able...which may generate some frustration.

  • at his nineties he sounds like an angry man to me

  • @cirocar Emotionally expressive, not copycat cookiecutter clones with marketing strategists behind them. Genuine expression.

  • @sclapione After emotional outbursts like that I don't think he learned THAT much in the century he lived. I mean there are people I know who aren't as close to a 100 years as he is and are much more calm than him. As if he's still kind of lost in that Hollywood world

  • Doris Day is alive and well too!

  • I happen to think he looks GREAT! (Keep in mind, most of his contemporaries aren't even ALIVE, anymore; consider THAT fact before you voice your disappointment in his appearance!)

He could be an incredibly difficult fellow to interview -- one MUST be on their toes, because nothing escapes his dancing eyes, and what he thinks, he SAYS!

Come to him unprepared or waste his time in some other way, and prepare to be DEVOURED... He could be as scary as he is delightful!

    Truly one in a zillion.

  • @cutandpaste1 she never made it successfully past child star status even though she was a good actress

  • Isn't their marriage in trouble now because his step son is trying to cheat Mickey out of his money??

  • Extraordinary man indeed! He just knows. Thanks very much for posting!

  • He looks like death..why would he want to go in front of a Camera?

  • @richierichnumber1 Not everyone can be as superficial as you.

  • @cutandpaste1 Yes. He was truly a man before his time.

  • Some of you really prove Oscar Wilde's saying "Give a man a mask, and he will reveal everything." Disgusting. Talking about a man's appearance. That's what's wrong with a lot of people now, judging them on sheer appearance alone...he is now 91 years old, what do you expect? What do you think you will look like, IF you make it to his age? Dumb, narcissistic assholes.

  • @MIKESOWELL So true. Juvenile denigration also annoys me. He is an extraordinary man.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone Yes he is. And the thing that these younger people do not know is he was a handsome guy in his youth. They think they will stay young forever.

  • @MIKESOWELL Indeed!! Many can only hope to see 91 years.

  • @MIKESOWELL YES! well said!

  • I think some of you youngsters are disrespectful. To take care of an elderly parent is akin to being a father to a new born child. Obliviously some here haven't ever done either. Show respect Mickey's age,the only living actor left of silent movies and all of the interesting history to relate, first hand before the paperbook writers rewrite it.

  • No offense to the man, but he really does look like a potato.

  • @MrLunitunz hahaha thats funny, he does look old now

  • @MrLunitunz LOL true. However, as most people at the age of 90 look like skeletons in coffins, I think he's doing kinda well.

  • @MrLunitunz At least he's happy

  • Let's wait and see how well some of you idiots on yt remember every little thing correctly when you're Mickey Rooneys age. Also, just because you don't happen to like the man's looks, you don't need to come on here with your extreme rudeness. What the heck ever happened to mannners? Just because you don't have to come face to face with somebody, doesn't mean you should feel free to spew garbage.

  • @4MaryAnna SOME people just were not taught or they didnt LEARN respect or manners. No one is going to like like 21 or 30 when they are in thier 80 s / 90 s. If they only love those that are considered good looking then how will they feel when no one LOVES THEN when they are past a cetain age. I am glad I am not LOVED by such shallow uncareing TWITS. I hope Micky makes it too 100

  • Poor, poor Ava having to sleep with this pugnacious midget! He is offensively conceited and was a bad lay apparently, anyway! Imagine him in the sack? It would be like a rabid pug dog wrapped around your leg under a table. I'd rather the pug-dog, what a certified creep. Jan can have him. A minute silence for Ava. May the Mickey's of this world join stumps and collectively run off the edge of the earth, for the sake of women at their weakest hour.

  • Mickey Rooney loves attention and he gets it. I wish he would just shut the f.... up and enjoy his extended golden years.

  • this man is crazy as shit

  • GOD. You want to make it to 89. Believe in something greater than yourself.

  • He is way too confrontational and makes me uncomfortable to watch him. I wish the interviewers would tell him to go to hell.

  • @dontbesobitter What do you expect he's old, you fuckin, jobless, debt ridden, inbred, redneck lol, lay off the dude, and go fuck yourself, you daft cunt lol.

  • LOL its too bad he never became a Mickey Rooney impersonator, he has the right look and sound LOL

  • he reminds me of gary busey, but less cool.

  • @Hrko1992 He "reminds you of Gary Busey, but less cool?" Yeah, right. Rooney is a legend; Busey is

not. Rooney is also a thousand times more gifted. And if you need me to remind you of that - you

don't know shit about film. Later, goofball.

  • Did you hear what Mickey said? "Immanuel". Was the only way he was a success. God bless you Mickey for strengthening my faith. God is with us. Love Mickey Rooney.

  • a wise man :-)

  • bulldog.

  • Mickey's always been a bullshitter! As in saying he was the one who inspired the name mickey mouse and he was the one who suggested norma jeane change her name to marilyn monroe! I bet he made up in the past he worked as a mickey rooney impersonator and had an affair norma shearer! But regardless mickey rooney is a hollywood legend!

  • age has caught up with him (we should all be so lucky)....In fairness, Mickey Rooney is extremely hard of hearing.

  • His crazy pills don`t work.

  • oh man hes nuts lol, still great though, long live mickey

  • It's a real blessing for us to be able to hear this man lucidly hold forth in the winter of his life. All of us who have been around awhile have received many hours of entertainment from this iconic show-business figure. I hope Mickey will be never lose his ability to recount and communicate.

  • There are a few stars from the Golden era of Hollywood left. I read that Mickey is the only actor living that is still active that has the longest career in hollywood. Lilian Gish was the only other person who had the longest active career in show biz. Mickey has been on stage for over 80+ yrs. Judy garland worked 45 yrs out of the 47 yrs she was alive. so imagine doing all this since infancy? amazing!

  • his wife is gross..........he should have stayed with ava gardner.this bitch must have smelly panties.

  • hes so cute..

  • Fuck You.

  • the guy was afriggin' wild man... he looks pretty good for a guy who played around so much.

  • I read in many books that Mickey and Norma Shearer (after her husband Irving Thalberg died) had a sexual relationship...he says it wasnt true.....

  • He's awesome.. He's totally awesome!! :D

  • Poor ol' Mickey, he's a champ putting up with the typical British journalism crap. Always a pro.

  • MICKEY ROONEY PLAYED

    THE U K U L E L E,

    FOR EMMANUEL'S SAKE,

    THEREFORE

I FORGIVE HIM ALL HIS SINS !

  • he comes across as a real contacurous old fart doesnt he!!

  • 3:07 Disgusting old man gulp !!!

  • @WeeklyMetalReviews

    That was great!

  • @WeeklyMetalReviews Explain

  • "I don't want to mention anyone who has been married more times than I have--BUT Liz Taylor has be married more than I have . . . ." OH SHUT UP.

  • Mickey Rooney is an asshole

  • @kokokorina Why be a jerk?

  • The interviewer is a cunt!

  • @ConfusedSponge Leave your trash at home!

  • @vivthetartan You know her or something?

  • @ConfusedSponge No, but why say such a trashy thing about someone YOU don't know?

  • @vivthetartan That's right. I don't know her, you don't know her. You don't even know me! i was talking about her immaturity and attitude in this interview and not her entire life. Please don't be nosy. Sheesh.

  • good ol mickey love his andy hardys movies

  • Some people don't read the bible to know that it means the same thing.

  • He said Emanuel, not Jesus. He's rubbed elbows with some elites.

  • Comment removed

  • @paulisftw He says 'carolinian', not 'caring lady'.

  • @mattisprettycool i think i've lost it now :(

  • aw he's such a nice chap

  • Id love to cut off Mickeys head and barbeque it in my oven, then Id get some Barry Manilou basting sauce and eat his brains for dinner

  • I always wondered if Mickey Rooney and Frank Sinatra got along over the Ava Gardner thing. Poor Mickey, getting high on pills all those years....

  • Comment removed

  • also Gloria Stuart and Zsa Zsa Gabor

And form male actors Eli Wallach and Kirk Douglas

Still, Mickey is one of the last and he's amazing

  • Maybe she meant "the only one working"

  • Comment removed

  • @Eryqah and Lauren Bacall!

  • @Eryqah actor, not actress

  • @ithrowclams Actually in the video she says "From the 1930's Golden Age you are the only one". Not the only male actor.

  • @Eryqah They're actresses. ;=)

  • @Onlymusical Yes I'm perfectly aware of that.

  • @Eryqah exactly and don`t forget Elizabeth Taylor.

  • @Eryqah perhaps they meant the only male actor left?

  • @Eryqah and oo lauren bacall!!

  • @jdpotc123 Not a 1930s film star.

  • @Eryqah Doris Day and Jane Russell were not 1930s stars. But you are correct on the other two. This stupid reporter also forgot, Shirley Temple, Deanna Durbin and Maureen O'Hara - 1930s films stars who ARE STILL ALIVE!

  • Comment removed

  • @Eryqah The journalist mentions the 1930s - please listen.

  • What Mickey could have meant was that he certainly didn't "date" Norma Shearer. As Clinton would say, it depends on the meaning of "date." They just did boing-chickka-boing. Norma was saving herself for the number 2 man at Metro, Irving Thalberg. I wouldn't say that Mickey was any more senile than any other person approaching 90, but clearly, as we say in the states, he is a fry short of a Happy Meal.

  • thats so touching!!

  • I think he had some good words to say about doing wrong. It sounds like he has learned...

  • He's obviously losing it. I mean I don't blame him, he's 89 and he's lived a fulfilling life.

But Elizabeth Taylor WAS NOT married 11 times. More like 8.

  • Mickey Rooney and Ava Gardner's relationship reminds me of Roger Rabbitt and Jessica Rabbitt

  • @MGMingenues3 Ya think it was a reference?

  • @NeverAloneForever If so that's just another classic thing he influenced (Mickey Mouse supposedly and if you ask me, I think he might have something to do with Dennis the Menace, just watch the film Hide-Out :) )

  • @MGMingenues3 I loved Dennis the Menace. Funny as hell. That would be great to find out he influenced the menace. Mickey Mouse. I'm going to have to research that. Is it the way he talks or something?

  • @MGMingenues3: I THOUGHT THAT AS WELL!! :D

  • is the interviewer high? Work as a Mickey Rooney impersonator when you ARE Mickey Rooney. Dame this interviewer is batshit!

  • why would you work as a Mickey Rooney impersonator when you ARE Mickey Rooney?

  • Hey Mickey say "You rat, you dirty rat!". Say it you son of a bitch. Say it now!

  • That was disturbing. I don't know if he's losing it, or if the interviewer was missing the point but I find that horrifying. I never want to get old. NEVER.

  • @TheJoCor Live fast die young and have a good looking corpse!

  • @TheJoCor I think he's losing it. I felt the same way you did.

  • Mickey Rooney is 89 and they need to leave him alone. Hes having a hard time remmembering things and he is still pist of with Ava Gardner

  • what a dick

  • Things he wrote in his autobiography weren't true? Ummm... OK.

  • Good interview!

  • I really dont understand why they continue to put him in interviews and in the media, god love him, he is for the birds, leave the man to retire quietly and peacefully...
