A genuine Hollywood Legend and American National Treasure, Mickey, You will live forever when You Depart and deeply missed, May You live long and never be forgotten.
One of the greatest Actors I have ever seen on screen, Truly.
This man is a living legend, the last living entertainer of a wonderful era in our country that helped make America uniquely American. Give him a lot of love and respect. The truth is most likely neither you or I will ever touch his bootstraps in historical significance. I for one would prize an autograph from this icon. Some of these comments represent the mindless shame with which we treat our elders...as if our contributions had an expiration date on them.
What a lovely human being. I thought that was so sweet when he said, "She's my family". I love what he contributed to films, and I think our world is a better place for him having been here.
Elizabeth Taylor was married 8 times to 7 different people (Richard Burton twice). Mickey was married 8 times to 8 people, so he has married more people than Elizabeth has.
I don't live in US, but i know Mickey Rooney with his great career not so much his life...When I read some messages I think I missed something in his private life?
I never cared for Rooney. He is either your cup of tea or he isnt.
I remember watching him play golf in the Bob Hope celebrity pro-am. He was chewing tobacco and spit an enormous mouthful on a putting green (which others would have to putt on).
From that moment on, I not only didn't like the guy, I HATED HIM!
@bogglerful He was married to eight beautiful women, including Ava Gardner, and made it to 90 years old and is still active. Something tells me that he doesn't give a rat's ass what you think.
@sclapione I am already blessed with a sound frame of mind, i doubt about you, you are only obssessed with this dwarf's celebrity status, worshipping celebrities is the cheapest substitue of acknoweldging the REAL loved around you, like your family parents and siblings.
i like the more innocent Ava with mickey rooney. they should have stayed together, but, then something inside of her didnt mesh well with his immaturity at the time so... (according to Lee Server's book, ) they had to part. **sigh**
It's good to remember the good o days back in the 20s and 40s those were the good o days when everyone got along.everyone trusted each other and that's when they had the good movies!!
Mickey Rooney is the best!!I hope he lives long and stays well!
@rosabaca21 Well thats the impression you get with movies back than rosa. But people didnt get along back than just like now. People were just as mean, uninhibited etc.The difference was most people didnt make it public back than.
@rosabaca21 Ummm you needed to tell me that 4 months after my comment??? So whats your point?? You use the name rosabaca21. So thats what you want to be called here at youtube. Correct?? If not use your real name.
No offense, she calls him the last Golden Age star, but there are still quite a few left ... Doris Day, Olivia de Havilland, Maureen O'hara, Joan Fontaine, Esther Williams... To name a few! Also, Elizabeth was NOT married 11 times! Lol. Mickey married more than her...
I don't agree that he is angry...this man's resume is literally unmatched by any living entertainment icon. He has so much experience, knowledge, and of course talent that he has seen many roads of life that few will ever claim to have experienced. Classic Hollywood is represented in this man...he probably has more to say than he is able...which may generate some frustration.
@sclapione After emotional outbursts like that I don't think he learned THAT much in the century he lived. I mean there are people I know who aren't as close to a 100 years as he is and are much more calm than him. As if he's still kind of lost in that Hollywood world
I happen to think he looks GREAT! (Keep in mind, most of his contemporaries aren't even ALIVE, anymore; consider THAT fact before you voice your disappointment in his appearance!)
He could be an incredibly difficult fellow to interview -- one MUST be on their toes, because nothing escapes his dancing eyes, and what he thinks, he SAYS!
Come to him unprepared or waste his time in some other way, and prepare to be DEVOURED... He could be as scary as he is delightful!
Some of you really prove Oscar Wilde's saying "Give a man a mask, and he will reveal everything." Disgusting. Talking about a man's appearance. That's what's wrong with a lot of people now, judging them on sheer appearance alone...he is now 91 years old, what do you expect? What do you think you will look like, IF you make it to his age? Dumb, narcissistic assholes.
@JeffersonDinedAlone Yes he is. And the thing that these younger people do not know is he was a handsome guy in his youth. They think they will stay young forever.
I think some of you youngsters are disrespectful. To take care of an elderly parent is akin to being a father to a new born child. Obliviously some here haven't ever done either. Show respect Mickey's age,the only living actor left of silent movies and all of the interesting history to relate, first hand before the paperbook writers rewrite it.
Let's wait and see how well some of you idiots on yt remember every little thing correctly when you're Mickey Rooneys age. Also, just because you don't happen to like the man's looks, you don't need to come on here with your extreme rudeness. What the heck ever happened to mannners? Just because you don't have to come face to face with somebody, doesn't mean you should feel free to spew garbage.
@4MaryAnna SOME people just were not taught or they didnt LEARN respect or manners. No one is going to like like 21 or 30 when they are in thier 80 s / 90 s. If they only love those that are considered good looking then how will they feel when no one LOVES THEN when they are past a cetain age. I am glad I am not LOVED by such shallow uncareing TWITS. I hope Micky makes it too 100
Poor, poor Ava having to sleep with this pugnacious midget! He is offensively conceited and was a bad lay apparently, anyway! Imagine him in the sack? It would be like a rabid pug dog wrapped around your leg under a table. I'd rather the pug-dog, what a certified creep. Jan can have him. A minute silence for Ava. May the Mickey's of this world join stumps and collectively run off the edge of the earth, for the sake of women at their weakest hour.
@dontbesobitter What do you expect he's old, you fuckin, jobless, debt ridden, inbred, redneck lol, lay off the dude, and go fuck yourself, you daft cunt lol.
Did you hear what Mickey said? "Immanuel". Was the only way he was a success. God bless you Mickey for strengthening my faith. God is with us. Love Mickey Rooney.
Mickey's always been a bullshitter! As in saying he was the one who inspired the name mickey mouse and he was the one who suggested norma jeane change her name to marilyn monroe! I bet he made up in the past he worked as a mickey rooney impersonator and had an affair norma shearer! But regardless mickey rooney is a hollywood legend!
It's a real blessing for us to be able to hear this man lucidly hold forth in the winter of his life. All of us who have been around awhile have received many hours of entertainment from this iconic show-business figure. I hope Mickey will be never lose his ability to recount and communicate.

Norma was saving herself for the number 2 man at Metro, Irving Thalberg. I wouldn't say that Mickey was any more senile than any other person approaching 90, but clearly, as we say in the states, he is a fry short of a Happy Meal.

@MGMingenues3 I loved Dennis the Menace. Funny as hell. That would be great to find out he influenced the menace. Mickey Mouse. I'm going to have to research that. Is it the way he talks or something?
That was disturbing. I don't know if he's losing it, or if the interviewer was missing the point but I find that horrifying. I never want to get old. NEVER.
I really dont understand why they continue to put him in interviews and in the media, god love him, he is for the birds, leave the man to retire quietly and peacefully...

Even his wife needed to correct him regarding Elizabeth Taylor's marriages.
