I would have loved to see you play this song with RL Burnside, I'm sure he was smiling from his place in the here after.........He used to do some stuff with Johnny Wood on the harp, RL on the Guitar, I beleive he recorded 3 or 4 versions of this song......
I heard little reminiscences of "What I Say" and "I Want Money". I'm sure there were plenty more influences, but those really jumped out. The foot drum and harp energy had a curious effect on me. I was hypnotized, soothed practically to sleep by the sweetness of it all. The Blues has officially become my comfort music. Thank you, Adam!
@OmniphonProductions: You're absolutely right about "What'd I Say." I used to play that exact same harmonica part behind Sterling "Mr. Satan" Magee when we played the streets in Harlem. It came to me here; it suddenly felt like the obvious segue from the song I'd been playing. Then I tried to do the vocal part from the song as an instrumental line. That sounded something like "I Want Money," although I didn't have THAT song in mind.
Addam:This is priceless: This is the closest thing I have seen to those old
B&W film clips of Maxwell Street in the 50-60" The Real Blues
What amp are you using? I have an Old "Fender Princeton that kind of sounds like that.
