  • I have never heard "The Kinks" version. Not bad. But I like "Herman's Hermits" version better.

  • das ist mein geburtstags song ;) das war an meiner Geburt auf platz 1 :D

  • I can actually hear his sneer.

  • i am speechless, The Kinks, Herman's Hermits?

  • DAVE HIMSELF SAID RAY WROTE THIS ABOUT HIM....OH MAN I WOULD HAVE LOVE TO HAVE HAD A PIECE OF DAVE DAVIES BACK THEN!!!!

  • the end of the video is like watching youtube on acid

  • It was covered by The Rocking Vicars featuring Lemmy of Motorhead. Another great song written by Ray Davies.

  • my nickname is dandy xD

  • 1966 best year in history

  • @PuffSmelly i agree with you.

  • The Hermits version smokes this one, Merse, you putz.

  • @ShockDoc

Ray Davies wrote this song ;)

  • @ShockDoc hermits version sucks compared to this

  • HAHAHA, I always thought it was "chattin up the ladies, tickling their panties" Ok, it was the 60's, give me a break!

  • This song reminds me of my friend who dates four girls, I always told him "JG, you know you can't escape the past" and "And when your old and brave you'll remember what they said! The two girls are too many! Three's a crowd! Four your dead!"

  • heard this from radio at nightwatch at finland's defenceforce's shooting camp, good song!

  • This was number one in Germany when I was one year old. We Germans love songs with a polka beat!

  • Am I the only one who thinks of Captain Jack from Torchwood when I hear this song?

  • @gomegirl3 not really but good series haha

  • Peter Noone version MUCH better

  • did the kinks do drugs ??

  • @88voodooray YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, especially Dave "Death-of-a-clown" Davies

  • @dylanizer100 what kind ??

  • Comment removed

  • @88voodooray fgt

  • A very good song written by one of Britain's best songwriters. I also like the version by the Rockin Vicars.

  • "and when you're old and grey you will remember what they said. that two girls are too many, three's a crowd, and four you're dead." my favorite part of the song.

  • the Face to Face album is one of the best ever ...this song was on it along with Sunny Afternoon.

  • Die erste Schallplatte meiner Schwester 100 mal höhren müssen

  • ....sorry for double comment--keyboard is screwing up, and the Youtube delete DOESN'T WORK

  • I had no idea this was a Kinks son-g-I had only heard Herman's Hermits. No comparison, as usual It has a whole different dimension, with the edge Ray puts on it. I will never be able to listen to the HH version again!

    KINKS RULE!

  • I had no idea this was a Kins son--I had only heard Herman's Hermits. No comparison, as usual

    KINKS RULE!

  • Ray, I thought you were just toooo cute.

  • pioneers..

  • Oh Lord. I love this Song. In the 60s Dandy was my Nickname. Long ago

  • Why does it sound so much like Iggy Pop's The Passenger, or the other way around, don't know which was first.

  • @KillBrownFictionDogs it'd be the other way around.. i think the stooges were 68-69, but thats just off the top of my head..didnt check it out, but personally dont think it sounds that similar but thats just me...garage-ish stuff always has a slight similarity tho.......good song

  • @zackertack The Stooges were active from 68-74 I think. But the Passenger is from 1977, since it was released by Iggy Pop as a solo artist. It was written in the period where Iggy and David Bowie worked together musically. China Girl and Lust for Life are another examples of their collaboration. The Passenger is a great song, though, check it out!

  • @KillBrownFictionDogs I don't think they sound alike, but I think you're hearing it in the rhythm, and the sound of the lead guitar (not the acoustic one).

  • No it sounds exactly like it, it's just 1 bit though, from "All your little lies" to "Oh ho, they long for a dandy".

  • GREAT ONE BUT I WOULD SAY THAT :)

  • GREAT TUNE :) BUT I WOULD SAY THAT

  • Jealous much Ray?

  • THE KINKS RULES!

  • This is by far the gayest song that was ever made. It's a great pastime to trap friends in the car and play this.

  • @hamsalad2 first three seconds are better then anything ive heard for years hah

  • haha dandy!! i love it!:D

  • mp3iffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iffy

  • Love this album,awesome animation!thanks...

  • I can`t believe I didn`t know this was a Kinks tune. All this time and its so Ray Davies, they should have had the hit not the freakin` Hermits. Oh bloody hell...

  • i love it

  • soundtrack of my adolescence, cheerz

  • Handy Handy

  • I liked this song when it came out and a bachelor I did stay. Song was like a prophecy. At least it says that I'm "alright" at the end...

  • oh!!dandy!!!dandy!!!dandy!!! :))

  • You're all right ))

  • doesn't he sing about his brother? ^__^

  • You guys are dumb. anyone who dresses like a dandy could called a dandy.

  • ALBUM DE 1966

  • Love this song. I always liked the Herman's Hermits version, but didn't know until much later that it was from Ray Davies.

Ray doesn't approve or disapprove of this fellow. Which sort of mirrors Ray's own life at the time. A family man, at the same time "spreading good cheer" to fans as he toured.

  • Isn't this a hermins hermits song?

  • Yeah! I was listening to Herman's Hermits this morning and I was thinking... I thought I saw this on The Kinks list of songs? Maybe I'm going mad?

    lol glad I'm not

  • It's a Kinks song, Ray Davies wrote it. Hermans Hermits did a cover of it.

  • you´re all right

  • this song is the titlesong for the tractorpulling tractor dandy from germany

    Kick Ass Man !!!

  • You're alright.

  • Dandy ,your allright

  • Hermans Hermits did a cover of this, but I don't think it's better than the original by The Kinks.

  • @paddyo702 No, the Hermits version can not even compare in depth and presentation and moreover they should NEVER have been allowed to do it.

  • @paddyo702

    fuck the hermits (lol)

  • @MerseYattle. Your answer is hilarious partly cos it's funny but mainly because you are 100% spot on. Ray Davies was a genius, a great songwriter but Hermans H... what on earth is that??

  • @paddyo702 Reallly ? Where can I find that ? I live for Herman's Hemits, their songs are so silly that one day I just closed my eyes and dreamed about life as an Herman's Hermits song, a fairy-like life where everything is nice...the world The Kinks denounce in fact ;)

  • @mllean0nyme It's in the related videos! It's not that different from the original, though.

  • @Reint25 @Reint25 I was obviously not talking 'bout videos I know how youtube works thank you but talking about a CD or something like that

  • @mllean0nyme Ok, didn't get that. According to allmusic.com you can find it the studio album There's a Kind of Hush All Over the World and on a lot of compilations, for example Their Greatest Hits.

  • @paddyo702 Are you being medicated? Maybe you should be...only pharmaceutical drugs can stabilize that chemical imbalance you got.

  • @paddyo702, Michele Torr did the French version, I'm sure you will love it, too

  • @paddyo702 i dont hear much difference both really good songs ;)

  • i heard this song , but a little better singing and song , anyone know this song but kinda better?

  • Face to Face is such a great album
