  • It's amazing how incredibly ignorant people are. Lye is all natural. It's a dangerous all natural substance. Anyway, I was wondering if the white clay that you mention also goes by another name. I researched it and can't find any info about it online. Thanks for any input, John

  • you must have very good ventilation lye stinks aas well as being dangerous. reading some of the responses im struck by how far removed we are these days from nature and all things "natural" there are many plants out there that can kill you totally naturally

  • what are the measurements or amounts for each to make the batch? Can you make a videos with better instructions as i have asked...thxs

  • did she say it will be done in 48 weeks? i don’t have that long.. i stink now!

  • @almasdp fresh soap needs to be cured

  • Goooo… enthusiasm!

  • Not everything that is "natural" is good for you. Why do people think that???

  • caustic soda, you clean drains with it, natural , yeah right.

  • would you please tell me how much water , oil, lye you used? or message me thanks ♥

  • If lye is so natural- then why do you have to wear skin protection in order to make it?

  • @AmishWebmaster I know I used to think that too, but no lye, no soap. I have researched till my eyeballs were red! lol

  • @AmishWebmaster Soap is a chemical reaction of an alkaline (lye) and acids (oil) which renders them both safe. It has been used for thousands of years.

  • @motivatedinohio Thank you for the insight. I failed in high school chemistry class.

  • @AmishWebmaster I only learned this, when I started making soap.

  • its not 100% Natural Soap

  • Some of y'all need o go read a chemistry book. Arsenic is natural, but it's not a good idea to ingest. NaOH (which is lye) is natural

  • Why protection when its all natural?

  • Alicia has a little lesbian mojo goin' on....Blech!

  • Alicia has a little lesbian mojo goin' on....Blech!

  • i eat soap for brekfast

  • Part 2-But any soap, even the natural ones, can be bad for the skin if used to much because soaps lather/foam to cut through the grease and dirt on the body and wash it away and therefore can also wash away the natural oils on your skin causing dryness and if your unlucky it can make your skin overproduce the natural oils. Apparently the more something lathers, the more drying it is, that doesn't mean you have to stop using soap, just use better soap as in the video or naturally grown ones. :D

  • Part 1-There is such a thing as 'soap' without lye, yes to make solid bars of soap you will need lye but there are plants in nature that can clean dirt and oils from skin, hair and cloth that are 100% natural. Some you will have to buy like soapnuts which are used for washing clothes and apparently conkers also contain saponins too which you can forage for. But I have just started growing Soapwort in my garden, when heated in water it lathers to become a natural cleanser. Hope that helps! :D

  • Well talc is natural and it can be found in the earth but when used talc is poisonous. Lye may be natural but some things are better off not used for the skin. Its all up to the person using the product we have the right to use what we choose. No right or wrong answers people :)

  • @jaefot Thanks, that's actually a lot more understandable than what I was finding on google.

  • THIS IS NNNOOOOOTTTTTTTT NATURAL SOAP,she say natural but she looks like an astronaut so many safety stuff on her hahaha here is nothing naturar dear.

  • If Lye is so harmful to skin, why is it in soap? I'm sorry, but that doesn't exactly make sense to me

  • dont worry be happy!

  • Do not use this method or extra chemicals, stick to natural oils and natural compounds.

  • did you say 4 to 6 weeks? That is a long time to let it dry out.

  • You are using sodium hydroxide and you HAVE are wearing protective gear to mix it and you expect people to use this on their body??!!

  • @MissJen27 You have to wear protective gear while the lye mixture (sodium hydroxide and water) is bieng prepared because at that point it's very dangerous. there is NO such thing as soap without sodium hydroxide. After 4-6 weeks it will be completely safe to use on the skin. Once the lye and the oils combine with one another in a process called saponification it turns into soap and glycerin which many companies extract and re-sell. handmade soap is very good for the skin. = )

  • There are other cleansing agents out there, more natural. Lye is an industrial cleaner. It desolves grease and oil like a dish detergent. Number one cause for dry skin in ppl. So basically all of those oils added as mosturizers dont do nothing, as they get desolved along with your skin oil.

  • seriously? Lye is not all natral! If you have to wear gloves thats your first clue!!

  • your soap studio makes me drool ;)

  • I do not consider sodium hyrdoxide natural like lye from wood ash.

  • 4-6 weeks? -_____-

  • The video response has nothing to do with this!!!!

  • this sonds awesome and extreamly simple to do :D

but... i still worried about the lye ._. *eep*

  • The 4-6 weeks is not just for neutralizing the lye. It is for evaporation of the water as well. As with any soap (including the gross commercial kind) , the longer it sits in the open air, the milder and longer lasting it is.

  • jesus what a racket soap making must be, ingredient cost is like maybe 50$ and you could sell each bar of soap for 5$ or more.

  • @itsumonihon Olive oil, Shea Butter, and other ingredients are not cheap. If you think you can make it for 50 cents a bar, try it.

  • @motivatedinohio i did try it, i sold the soaps, they cost me 13 cents a bar to make and i sold them for between 2.50 and 6.50 each on ebay. economy of scale my son, economy of scale. soapmaking has turned out to be a decent addition to my company.

  • @itsumonihon I haven't been able to get my costs down, even with buying in bulk. Who is your supplier?

  • @motivatedinohio actually i live in japan and have a local supplier in tokyo. i buy in pretty big quantities, my bill for olive oil was around 250$ for fairly cheap stuff but it got me a lot of oil. see if you can bargain with your supplier to reduce costs and see if your market can withstand a sales price increase to offset the material costs

  • @itsumonihon Thanks.

  • did she say 4 to 6 weeks?!

  • thats a lot!!

  • @0092Anon It truly isn't hard.

  • @0092Anon it really is not i picked this up as a hobby and its easy after you get used to it just alot of measuring and you really need to know what your doing. you can always try melp and pour soap too its way easier!

  • I just want to make one/five bars of soap so how much would that cost

  • @NoeBernardin Lye is natural and so are many other TOXIC but natural things including arsenic which is in spinach in extremely small amounts. If you do not use lye in soap then it is not really soap. Soap is a mixture of an alkaline salt and oil. Lye is naturally occuring in wood ashes.

  • 4 to 6 weeks really goes by fast if you do hot process in between those times. You would only do these volumes if selling it. For your own personal use I would do hot process as you could use it the same week although extended drying is preferred.

NoeBernardin has a way to make soap without lye?

I am always up for a miracle formula.

  • ITS NOT "100 natural" if there's lye in it, IDIOTS!!!! if it was so "natural" you wouldn't need gloves and eye protection. It's possible to make soup WITHOUT LYE

  • @NoeBernardin Elaborate

  • @NoeBernardin Lye occurs naturally. Read about it first. And as said here, the lye in soap (which is always necessary) completely changes form upon proper soaponification.

  • @NoeBernardin Yes it's possible to make SOUP without lye but not SOAP, read a book!

  • where can one order these products?

  • I have a 100% AFRICAN NATURAL PRODUCTS i WANT SOME ONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO MAKE SOAP .......cal 313 267 4002 o I want to oder soap from any one who has being making them.

  • love this video

  • how can soap be natural if your using lye????

  • @PATSDESIGNS That's what I was thinking. Lye is not natural.

  • @PATSDESIGNS The sodium or lye used to make soap undergoes a chemical process during the 4 weeks wait, during this time it loses its chemical action and caustic properties thanks to the oils it is mixed with, therefore becoming completely neutral. For this reason it is imperative to allow four weeks after soap is made with this ingredient, otherwise you could irritate the skin.

  • she is not very happy

  • @Moonsabie You mean she isn't grinning and giggling like an idiot? Refreshing!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • 46 weeks?!

  • @PolTehPwnage 4 to 6 weeks.

  • I like how we would use soap to remove most of these ingredients from our skin

  • so helpful how she measures it but doesnt say the measurement so i mean this videos rather useless for anyone that wanted to use it because of that (i dont want to use it but still >.>)

  • booobeeeez <3

  • I like how i knew none of the materials:D

  • I was thrilled but then I heard 4 to 6 weeks and I went blue :'(

  • @thexmario I've only been researching this for a few hours, but I'm pretty sure that those batches only take 4 to 6 weeks because of their size. If you were making a batch at home, you likely wouldn't be doing it by the gallon as she is, so the time it takes for the soap to solidify would be shorter.

  • @thexmario You do not have to wait 4-6 weeks if you use the Hot process soap method, only a few days until it hardens. In Hot process everyting is heated in one pot at the same time. The lye water is not seperate and then mixed. The soap neutralizes quicker by Hot process.

  • I usually follow the Fight Club method of making soap.

  • @fatcatbuzz I'm here because I ran out of left over fat

  • @TheMcvlogger We both just broke the first rule of Fight Club.

  • @fatcatbuzz How to use the Fight Club method of making soap.

Step 1: Become completely disgusted with the person you've become.

Step 2: Acquire multiple personality disorder.

    Step 3: ...

  • @sk8tafrnk I think step 3 was to blown up the apartment.

  • @fatcatbuzz You are one step closer to making soap my friend. haha

  • @sk8tafrnk We just need to make that pit stop to the liposuction clinic.

  • @fatcatbuzz Lol. Yuck, I forgot about that.

  • @sk8tafrnk Don't forget when we get home, we have to give each other chemical burns with lye.
