No matter how different the versions sound, all versions of this song contain the same basic saxophone licks. This is why I love it, as you can play it 100 different ways and it still sounds the same but new at the same time
This summer when I whent to his house in California (he is my great uncle) I got to play in his band on THAT tenor sax (the one he is holding in the picture) and he gave me a metal mouthpiece. It was amazing to learn new things from him to make me a better sax player
Dieu! pfff...connaissais la version lounge lizards, pour les inconditionnels,The Viscounts, pour les connaisseurs,Sam'the Man' Taylor mais ici, je m'assied et je déguste du petit lait! Waw.....Respect!
ain't no one on the planet plays better than John...what a touch...I never even liked the sax until I met John,....he made a believer of me. He is also amazing on the clarinet, flute, and pennywhistle.
i hope you study this recording. its fucking killer... last year in jazz band we had our best tenor play this... god i felt like slappin' a hoe... she played with no soul and no feeling. i felt like throwing my double bass to the floor and grabing a sax. i dont know how to play but goddamn i'd put more soul into that sax then she ever will. i hope you play this track all the way to the bottom of your heart!
Im pretty sure i had pants before the song started...

John Firmin is worthy of the sax and the respect John has for this exquisite song.

This slower pace really gets me. Sends shivers up and down. Wonderful warm, sweet, moody.

I love this song, but I've never heard it played this well before. John Firmin makes that sax talk.
