1.This isn't a new thing. that area has been a TUC (transmission utility corridor) for over 30 years, WHY DID YOU GUYS BUY HOUSES THERE?
2.The government isn't the one building the lines, the power companies are, go talk to them. the government doesn't decide.
3.The people who live near the powerline should pay to bury it.
4.health effects are proven, but what's also proven is that a 1 minute cell phone call emits more radiation than a day of exposure to these lines, GO THROW OUT YOUR PHONES!
@FunnyVideoGuy1221 So, let me get this straight. Your argument is that when they discovered asbestos was bad, people who bought houses that used it for insulation should die, or, as you generously propose, if they want to live they should pay to do so. And your corollary to this is because something else causes cancer we should all be happy to accept another cause of cancer. Brilliant! Would love to continue the debate when you get a brain.
This video is great, well thought out. I have been very unimpressed with the provincial government and the approach they take. I wonder if the heartland project has been a go for some time. The Alberta government etc. has, and is just trying to pacify their constituents by getting our feedback while their plans are already in motion. It is sad to see that government(s) only care about themselves. It’s great to have a group like RETA support and fight for us. I back RETA 100%. GO RETA!
It's time the various groups and associations around the world that are involved with educating the public and politicians establish an umbrella organization......strength in numbers. The health, safety, environmental and property value impacts of above ground high voltage power lines can no longer be ignored. We need to start mounting a major campaign to put pressure on the World Health Organization; their credibility is currently at an all-time low regarding ELF EMF impacts.
Super video. We're targetted for one of these monsters. Yeah, I know there are debates about how much damage they "might" do to one's health but they are definitely ugly, loud and value-depreciating!
Great video! Those of you who think you've escaped having powerlines built near you...think again. You've only escaped for now. Unless a policy change is made to ensure these things get buried any time they run near homes, schools, daycares, playgrounds, hospitals, environmentally sensistive areas etc., there's an overhead powerline in your future too.
DrDDoom must only read comic books. There is so much proof out there that these big puppies increase the risk of all kinds of illnesses.....but people can ignore all those facts and expose themselves to as many high voltage lines as they want. If you do, you might as well get a permanent bed at your neighborhood hospital.
Hey Dr Dumb. I hope you are right about Health Canada. If you live near the westtuc these babies will be coming your way soon. Take lots of pictures of your loved ones before the Humming starts.
Health Canada is way off side on this issue but then they're the people who brought you "Smoking MAY cause cancer.". Obviously not everyone who smokes gets cancer but that doesn't make smoking a smart thing to do. And smoking is a personal choice whereas power lines are a gift from the government.
This is a great video. People wanting more info should go to Dr. Magda Havas website to view information that is not funded by any corporation or interest group.
Why should the onus be on the people who may have power lines built by their homes have to prove that they cause negative health effects? Shouldn't the people who build them, power them and subject people to their effects have to prove that they are safe? The fact is that they cannot. Would you like your family to be the guinea pigs to prove or disprove the health effects?

@westtuc You are correct it isn't the people who live near power lines to prove anything. That's why the National Research Council spent more than three years reviewing more than 500 scientific studies that had been conducted over a 20 year period and found "no conclusive and consistent evidence" that electromagnetic fields harm humans.

Excuse me. just a little question. where is the proof. I know they've done the test. maybe five of 100 kids had leukemia near a powerline. you expect us to believe that every kid in the world is like these hundred you've tested? I know someone who is closely related to this project. They've told me every single lie RETA has made about this. The only reason you oppose this powerline is because it might take 5 dollars of your precious 10 million$ ones. Haha i enjoyed the "just kidding" route too.
Fantastic video. Nothing says progress like big ugly power lines. And who cares if I get erectile dysfunction anyway because I spend all my spare time at work.

The "proof" lies dying of leukemia in children's hospital wards all over the world. Tell their parents you need "real proof".

@fercyou There is no 'scientific' proof, link me to one REAL study that proves this.

I agree no one likes to live beside giant humming towers but we're suppose to believe power-lines cause all those diseases? where's the proof?
