I can think of one problem. If these satellites are to power our growing energy needs, I'm guessing each one will be generating a couple of gigawattes each. And if they beam it to a reflector, won't that turn the reflector into a photon sail? I think its going to drift off out of its orbit.
Very good stuff. GEO will be easier to achieve with increased implementation of molinya, sun sync or another such orbit and improvement in beamed power technologies. Id suggest that a inflatable sphere type reflector / collector might offer the best mass to surface area ratio and be less sensitive to direction
