After watching so many documentaries (Dale, The Day, Dale's Last Ride) & seeing so many pics & videos, I have to commend the television & safety workers for making sure that nobody saw the body. From the pics of the inside of the car after the wreck, it looked like someone had been murdered. I think the only that you can actually see Dale's body is his silohuette inside the car after the wreck when Schrader called for the paramedics & they started to cut him from the car. Even that is debatable

It's a real damn shame. The hit didn't even look that bad. I grew up in the 90's watching the Labonte bros, Martin, Gordon, Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace etc.. I'm not a diehard fan of his, but NASCAR hasn't been the same for me since the day he passed.

Look, I am not even that big into NASCAR. I live beside the Bristol track and have my whole life. My Dad, however, is a huge fan and I have grown up watching it. Earnhardt was the only thing that made watching it any good for me. You ARE allowed to block in NASCAR. They didn't call the bumpers the "chrome horns" back then for nothing. I might understand your comment if he had bumped another driver, got loose and hit the wall, but, that is not the case in this instance.
He also had prior work done on his neck due to previous racing related injuries. The jaw was the least of the troubles. He had the work done to continue racing because he was that hard core about what he loved. Fact of the matter is, his body had sustained a lot of trauma over the years.....despite hitting a wall head on with the force of two cars, this put him at even greater odds to survive a crash like that.

I have read the detailed report on his death and am not a scientist. I also am absolutely NOT talking conspiracy when I simply say that it SEEMS like such a non serious crash. With the car moving forward it is hard to see the collision with the wall as life threatening as it obviously was. Truly unbelievable.

Crashes with the flips and twists look much more serious, but in reality all those twists and flips are destroying the momentum. With a crash like this, he was taking not only his momentum and force head-on into the wall, but also that of the car that bumped him.

Grew up and grew out of NASCAR over the years, but I loved the way Dale drove, and boy did he drive in this race. Maybe we create legends with hindsight, but I don't think it's exaggerating to say that there was something special about his performance that day. That he was racing so hard for a teammate and a friend makes it that much more moving.
Today is the 10th anniversary of this accident... and it also happens to be 20th birthday, so I will always live with this memory of Dale dying on my 10th Birthday.... RIP Man, Dale Sr. Fan (and JR to) for life.

Are you suggesting that some how right turns are more complicated then left turns? And you can get smart with me and make some comments about those being road courses in which case I’ll point out we drive in an oval, sometimes tracks closer to a rectangle then an oval,“tricky triangle” and even road courses.

After watching so many documentaries (Dale, The Day, Dale's Last Ride) & seeing so many pics & videos, I have to commend the television & safety workers for making sure that nobody saw the body. From the pics of the inside of the car after the wreck, it looked like someone had been murdered. I think the only that you can actually see Dale's body is his silohuette inside the car after the wreck when Schrader called for the paramedics & they started to cut him from the car. Even that is debatable

It's a real damn shame. The hit didn't even look that bad. I grew up in the 90's watching the Labonte bros, Martin, Gordon, Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace etc.. I'm not a diehard fan of his, but NASCAR hasn't been the same for me since the day he passed.

Look, I am not even that big into NASCAR. I live beside the Bristol track and have my whole life. My Dad, however, is a huge fan and I have grown up watching it. Earnhardt was the only thing that made watching it any good for me. You ARE allowed to block in NASCAR. They didn't call the bumpers the "chrome horns" back then for nothing. I might understand your comment if he had bumped another driver, got loose and hit the wall, but, that is not the case in this instance.

He also had prior work done on his neck due to previous racing related injuries. The jaw was the least of the troubles. He had the work done to continue racing because he was that hard core about what he loved. Fact of the matter is, his body had sustained a lot of trauma over the years.....despite hitting a wall head on with the force of two cars, this put him at even greater odds to survive a crash like that.

The way I look at it - Dale's mission was to get Michael, who had never won a race in his career, and Dale Jr. back to the checkered flag in 1 and 2 positions. He accomplished this. Good job, Dale.

Then again, Earnhardt did do a lot of amazing things in his career. I'm no NASCAR fan myself, but I can respect a great driver, and whoever is on here disrespecting a dead man is a piece of shit! Dale went out while doing what he loved best (and doing it better than 99.9% of others could do it!) I think he'd at least be satisfied with how he went, blocking the rest of the pack so his team mates could cross the line together. This is the first time I've seen this on film (like I said, NASCAR isn't my thing), but I'm annoyed that there are trolls even here.

I have read the detailed report on his death and am not a scientist. I also am absolutely NOT talking conspiracy when I simply say that it SEEMS like such a non serious crash. With the car moving forward it is hard to see the collision with the wall as life threatening as it obviously was. Truly unbelievable.

Grew up and grew out of NASCAR over the years, but I loved the way Dale drove, and boy did he drive in this race. Maybe we create legends with hindsight, but I don't think it's exaggerating to say that there was something special about his performance that day. That he was racing so hard for a teammate and a friend makes it that much more moving.
