You can't just take your troops and leave because that obviously creates a power vacuum that can be taken by members of the insurgency and not the rightful government of the people of those nations. My views are the U.S. should try and focus more on domestic issues in a tough economy and stop giving any excess aid (such as military and other non-essential monetary funds BUT not for necessary items such as food and healthcare) to foreign nations

Obama says that Iraq war was a "mistake" i.e. it was bad for the US to get into the quagmire, that's like a Nazi General saying that invasion of Russia was a mistake. Obama doesn't say it was immoral and fundamentally wrong. He says that Afghan war is a good war, and he orders drone strikes at civilians, every other week 90 civilians are killed because of a "mistake".
