This train has really deteriorated in recent years. There used to be a sleeper but it was discontinued. Wasn't there a Pullman (the best day coach). 1st class in Argentina is not really 1st class. It's a step below Pullman. Pullmans always have an attendant who keeps the door locked so that there is no access by people from the cheaper classes. You can ride the train from Viedma to Bariloche. It is good and has a sleeper.
Argentines are frightened out of their minds and learn early on never to trust anyone. Always be paranoid, viligent and on your guard. You can see a life of this written all over their wrinkled faces. You were green indeed.
I´m from Bahia Blanca too, and I´ve heard some stories about the train and tourists (and specially travelling from here to Buenos Aires or the other way arround). That´s why I never travel in long distance train ;)
It is a pity that we didn´t ask for the groups name when we taped them in Buenos Aires. I heard that the train between Cordoba and Buenos Aires is much better.
I know that the train is very dangerous for you but I recommend you that the next time try to travel spending more than four dollars because if you travel in the cheapest transport of USA you will be robbed too

Yes you are right Bahía Blanca is nice and the robbery did not have anything to do with Bahía it was the train but most of all we where very "green" just started our trip inexperienced, It is just something that almost has to happen when you make a long trip like this. greetz Kim
