Livin' in Dallas for 20 years and seeing Ray Wylie at some shows pissed out of his mind on who knows what, he can maked up all sorts of shit about this song...It is his joy to pull motherfucker's legs sometimes...I like this version as well as any..Who Knows and Who really care. I just know that my Freshman year in 1975 in College my frat brother's and I got drunk as hell on J. Jeff Walker's version...

I remember these days...... I live at the lazy H in red river.... Boy the twitty boys knew hall to party... Ray played for 200 and all the ripple he could drink.
Hey Ray Wylie!!! Always makes me laugh when I watch this video.... But, are you sure it was Red River New Mexico???? Cause it sounds like you've been to Red Deer , Alberta Canada ( Same shit different place)...Good Ol Rednecks........
I don't know what it really was when Ray Wylie was in Red River -- it is now the Mother Lode and Bull of the Woods. Just before New Years, Mother Lode had a helluva band playing there. Just a bunch of Cowboys and Ski Patrol there now. I love the place. Saw Ray Wylie in a bar in Norman OK in the 80's, he played to a packed bar of probably 80 people ... I remember him doing "Long Black Veil" ... she walks these hills in a long black veil ...
Of course it was a stab at the rednecks that hadn't fully converted yet - Willie did it on the pilot episode of Austin City Limits and the entire band could barely contain themselves - it was awesome.
I was at Water Aerobics today (Colorado), and the last 'stretches' are done up against the pool wall. Suddenly, the swim coach yelled "Up against the wall", and then proceeded to sing this song. We all laughed so hard, we almost drowned. I've never heard the song, so came
I always really liked this song and kind of suspected it was written as a joke about rednecks. Irony? whats irony?
The story is great, and the tellin even better. Reminds me of Willy talking about "Me and Paul". Ray Wiley is one funny cosmic hippy cowboy, and he seems like he really lived it.
enjoyable,,,, real fun,,,,, just like i remember when i played pro guitar....here's 5 stars,,,,i also have a video just opsted..... check it out to,,,,,comical

Hubbard wrote this as a joke about country music. Ironically, it was the stepping stone that started his fame!.
