  • Praise the Lord and pass the antacid. Ever try reasoning with a bible thumper? About anything, really anything at all? Everything with one of them is a canned sermon from a mind that could not be more tightly closed. Had I followed that link sooner, I would have known better than to pursue this discussion for even a second. If anybody else was thinking of making the mistake of attempting a dialog with this man, follow the guy's homepage link and see that what I am saying is true.

  • I just visited HowlingWolf1910's listed homepage, and wished I had done so sooner. Bible thumping, Christian fundamentalism with a dash of New Age wackiness, added for spice. You can find it at shatterthedarkness period n e t. I liked the title of one of his pieces: "Will the Pyramids become a weapon: Examining the Alien Mind" found at preemptionbroadcast period podomatic period c o m slash question mark badge equals one. The 700 club meets the Syfy Channel? Televangelism on acid?

  • Wow....thats all i can say is wow. Those words are so powerful....the story, the images, the imagination of what that day must have been like....wow

  • This video is wonderful, the sound track goes and the train just becomes the impassive background, so cold, so familiar, and just maybe, there could be hope.

  • "...I really felt his admiration and loneliness through his hug."

    w o w.

  • This is how the world should treat each other...

  • Brought tears to my eyes....

  • even after a year or so l still love this video...

  • Wow Wellblow me away why don't you.. dammnn i havent gotten that choked up in a minute. my next project was going to be and still is an interview with a homeless person, and thanks to this video Richard you have inspired me. Thanx

  • Hauntingly beautiful. Initial disappointment that it wasn't just another subway video quickly turned to deep interest in the poignant story.

  • this is a very beautiful video!!

  • Richard this is a very nice clip.. I love it te felicito... it's a sad reality. of our Beautiful NYC. ....: ...> JC

  • I love this story and your voice

  • nice video

  • This story is really awesome, I heard it maybe a year ago and I was amazed back then, that one homeless man, happy for a brief moment that he's friend made something out of him, something he couldn't archive, something he had fail to do ... Always when he says "Im good", it gives me chills, it makes ME happy for a very brief moment ...

  • This is very deep. It made the hairs on my ass stand up. Beautiful story. Made me cry. Pete, I love you. You are the best person on the face of the Earth. You should be President of the USA. You are a modern day Jesus. Be proud!!!!!

  • Hugs power. Amazing story. True or not : whatever.

  • Goes to show how one little thing can totally change someones life!

  • NYC subway! best subway system ever!

  • wow... this story is deep. if only more people could be like that man. Maybe our world wouldnt be in the position it is in right now.

  • I love this video

  • It was great i also enjoyed your disney trip hope the best of luck to you and cant wait to see another.

  • If we all had this man's "feelings" for our fellow man, this would be a much better country than it is today

  • Now in Redding, California if you are one of the more than 3,000 homeless men, women, and children in Shasta County caught by a small campfire trying to keep warm within Redding's city limits, or sleeping anywhere in a car, you can receive up to six months in jail, and a $1,000 fine.

  • why would they fine a homeless man a fine...

obviously he has no money becauase he's homeless..

  • so sad

  • man im always woundering, what happend to him?

  • This is why Youtube exists.

  • interesting! KtC

  • Now you are realizing that Happiness can not bought with money gush

  • Everytime I bought a dime bag of weed I was buying happiness. I love the sound the train makes as it moves across a switch. It sounds like it is pounding the rail, all its weight coming down.

  • good message in a beautiful video narrative

  • It's funny, we feel compassion, but don't act of it.

  • very KEWL

  • Thank you so much for sharing.

  • god you actually sound insincere.just like a writer tryin' to make it.did you actually make it?on some else's shortcomings?

  • Awe Richard! That was soooo beautiful. It brought a tear to my soul.

Thank you for sharing! 5 stars, subscribed and favorited!

    -TonyaTko

  • "never ture your back on the homeless",,,,,some of them are combat veterans!!"god bless america"

  • We are against practices and laws that unfairly single out homeless people and criminalize them for everyday living and life-sustaining activites.

  • Wow. This video was amazing.

  • i know this neighborhood intimately.... an ex taught me that the 7 train passing overhead is actually very relaxing sounding..

great video indeed!!! from the trains to the sites you've captured, you've accurately expressed how special woodside is

  • This is beautiful.

  • hugs can do amazing things.

  • I love this video.

  • On my previous comment on how I thought this should be a short story:

Do you have any idea on how long this would be in a short story?

    Probably 2 or 3 pages.

    Sandtrooper16

  • it's never too late

  • Man what a tuching film (serious don't bitch it or me)

I live in australia and there are barely any homeless people but ocasionly you can find one in the aley wasy around the shelters.

But what i have 2 say is this. if ure government and people treet people with the amount of respect that i can extract from the coments in this section. "it's pothetic"

I apologise 4 any incorest spelling

  • It was just entertaining. You're a fookin idiot. Not everyone thinks its shit.... To make such a harsh, stupid comment like that I can only presume you're some 12 year old hiding behind a computer. Or just a failed/wannabe film maker. Where are your video's?

  • I ride the 7 train all the time. The last homeless guy I saw was smearing his own feces on the mezzanine wall. It was at the Main Street station. I guess the charming homeless guys are in Woodside.

  • True or not, it's a beautiful one.

  • this is the most amazing video I've seen on youtube yet. Amazing.

  • If this is a true story, (most likely it isn't) the homeless guy was probably drunk or high. I don't think he remembers being played for a fool by this guy, so there is no happy ending...Sorry folks.

  • its true

  • that was beautiful

  • It's not about what he did was right or wrong, nor if homeless ppl are real people or not. It's a story, possibily true and (to me) definitly inspiring. Not to go out and accually talk to them more as I do now, but to think more about life and how it could have been etc... And I suppose that was the purpose of this vid, so... Nice vid.

  • the one thing i don't get is how you play up talking to homeless people. like of course homeless people are "real people", they just don't have homes. i chat with homeless people all the time, they are actually usually a lot more interesting than most people.

  • wow this is just touching....man it shows true colors of someone...come on people deep down you are all ok people...don't hate someone because they are different

  • i enjoyed this a lot. calessassracer is an idiot. very intriguing and inspirational.

  • Great video. Thanks

  • This movie you made about this homeless man is very touching. One never really understand why certain people cross our paths, but when they do and we show compassion as you have done, you are sowing good seed that will sprout something positive later in life.

  • Hmmm, well, i liked it. Thought it was really good. Well Done!!! Dont listen to some of these pee - on's ..... congrats!

  • boooooooooring, probably a pickpocket.

  • u dont have feelings

  • awesome! very inspirational.

  • I'm pissed off. Epicwarding, it is people like you who ruin the YouTube community. This guy told us a true story of of something that has happened in his life and you call it trash? This is truly a beautiful story of someone who made an old friends day just by giving him attention that no one else would. Oh the frustration I am feeling! It sounds like your the one born in 93 because you don't have a clue of what the real world is. Do you? Grow up a little before posting such comments.

  • Excellent movie! I really enjoyed it, and it is so inspiring. What a gift that the man gave to the homeless man. Maybe it was enough to even turn him around too.

  • All he gave was the gift of deception.

  • Well, but don't you see, it was for the better. It made the homeless man happy.

  • Giving the homeless man a bottle of Thunderbird would have made him happy too. But it wouldn't make it right. I don't like lies, or liars.

  • You obviously have issues, which I cannot solve. Just don't loose your link to humanity and to society, or you too will end up homeless in the same situation. There was nothing wrong with making a homeless man happy and to give him hope that he too may find his way out of his situation.

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion. By yours, i'd say you are about 20 and very idealistic and yet negative at the same time. Don't even try to put me down kid, I could care less what you think.

  • I think you missed the point.

  • I agree. He had some fun at some poor guy's expense and was very proud of himself for doing so. I don't think playing with somebody's head is all that touching.

  • "He had some fun at some poor guy's expense"

Are we sure this happened or was this just a story? Look, the homeless character's life isn't going to get better in reality, ever. Is it cruel to lie to him, to make him feel better about what can't be changed?

I'm not so sure that it is.

  • @ChicagoStories There R many that get off the streets. Some just get bad breaks in life and lose their homes, jobs, etc. and they're not out there long. There's several groups that successfully help many get off the streets. Not everyone is hopeless. Sometimes it takes teamwork to help them. We had a homeless friend living with us, and he was ripped off by a minister. I took him out of his hands, took what little finances he had out of his control, helped him get a car, and now he's making it.

  • @HowlingWolf1910 We're not talking about homeless people in general, we're talking about a specific character in a specific story, the one being told in this video.

  • @ChicagoStories Simply bringing up the possibility that if this person IS real, it's not hopeless. And that it's an unknown if his life will never get better .... that would be an inconclusive presupposition, as we don't even know if this is a real person or not. We ... I am talking about the odds of a homeless person's life getting better - and not assuming that it won't or cannot.

  • @HowlingWolf1910 : "I am talking about the odds of a homeless person's life getting better - and not assuming that it won't or cannot. "

I'm not going to get into an "is so, is not" contest" with somebody who is clearly here because he is in love with the sound of his own voice. We do know something about the character, whose reactions, words and even tone are shared with us in the story, enough of each that we are not looking at a generic homeless character.

  • continuing .. By your own admission, you've ignored all of these, and shared with us nothing more than a knee jerk reaction to the notion that a particular homeless character's situation can be counted on to not improve, your reaction being based on nothing more than the fact of his homelessness. I seriously wonder if you even watched the video.

A discussion with somebody like you has nowhere to go. I've blocked you. We're done. Have a nice life.

  • "All he gave was the gift of deception."

So did Jesus Christ, but he made many people happy.

  • Jesus did not give anyone deception, what are you some sort of devil worshiper? There is a difference between deception and what happened here. I truly believe deception would have moved this man negatively, whereas letting him believe that it was Pete gave him hope.

  • wow

  • umm i dont get it. i think its cuz iam only 12

  • thats so sweet and inspiring, dont listen to other ppl cuz ur not trash!

  • You lied to that poor man.

  • Excellent story, and very well told

  • Love the story!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • fome

  • this is an amazing story, you could have changed this mans life forever.

  • very nice story

  • i would have done the same thing listen for a couple of minutes and make some guy happy

some times it does not hurt to say a white lie

  • ummm...to mcsweeny92 the dude didn't go home and cry he's homeLESS you fool. and it was either go along with the story and make the homeless dude happy or shoo him away like so many people do in big cities. like you said the homeless people are people too and this guy treated him like an equal like his best friend even

    so be silent foolzorb

  • Very good story telling. Nice story.

  • this has to be the gayest thing i have ever seen in my whole entire life of writng mean comments about every video i see

  • Life is nothing more than moments in time moving like water dripping in a bucket! You did a great job painting one of those moments so we could see.. 5 stars love to see more

  • very good

  • touching

  • Richard Calvache is just a little full of himself don't you think?

If you did it all by yourself man, just put "In Motion" by Richard Calvache, Haha.

Get a tripod. =), Shots are great...good =/......but they scream amateur.

  • that was good

  • ahhhh... that was deep. as deep as my kiddie pool. ;)

  • it was beautiful, full ponts^^

  • okay..

  • Beautiful.

  • brilliant

  • Brilliant! This was just great ! Dude, you storry telling skills are superb!

  • dam this was good

  • wow that almost made

    me cry...

    thats a really good story..

  • Brilliant! Great job, Richard! Take care!

  • very touching stuff... will talk to homeless dude nxt time if he calls me.. i dunno pingu

  • you stole that story

  • from who?

  • I've actually heard a story like this before...but its still good=)

  • The video was very well done. My compliments to the director and writer. Very touching. I'm not usually one for the sappy emotional garbage but this was done in such a way that it was very nice. The purpose of any entertainment is to evoke an emotion without making it have that 'sticky' feeling, and this is a very good example of that. Again, very good job.

  • xD Thanks :p ?

But if i was better i could explain it better..

  • man...that is so cool...keep up the great work.

  • harleyquinn

  • wow nice job man. very touching :)

  • "how hes so happy "

exactly how did you come to that conclusion?

  • He said ?

  • I agree it is a great clip. However, just because he was not wallowing in self pity, or at least forcing it on others, does not make him happy.

On the other hand, perhaps he is.

  • The point is, that he IS happy.. He's fine with being poor.. Dont know how else to explain it O_o

    (I suck at english!)

  • I see your point.

    And your English is fine.

  • very nice :)

  • cool story but i wouldn't do this

  • well done

  • very touching

  • Wow. I'm just so amazed, people can find happiness and comfort in things other cannot. Don't no how to feel or what to say... I liked the video...? :)

  • Poor homeless man is probably wondering why his "good friend Pete" did not help him off the streets. Maybe the "psuedo Pete" should have given him a place to stay then his new best friend and life savior would have been Richard. Then the homeless man would no longer be homeless and Richard would have a a feature! Maybe you will find him and we will see a part 2 coming soon to U Tube! ;-)

  • great job I love it!

    -Brandon~

  • very well presented and the voice was very calm and inviting.

  • Good story, nicely told! I enjoyed watching it. Thank you!

  • Could have given the guy a $5 dollar bill to buy some booze with and he would have been just as happy. This story sucks. Stop fawning over yourself.

  • nice story Richard

  • i stopped to talk to a poor person off the street once. somin told me to spare a few mins to talk to this guy.. and OMG what he had to say. watever any1 may think, u cannot argue with the fact that they are just ppl like the rest of us. This man had so much to say about wat he believed in and wat he thought. He talked to me about his belief in Islam, cuz he was moslim. and his faith was just to the point that he was just in Go'ds hands. He told me to stop by anytime to talk if i wanted to talk

  • This is such an awesome story.

  • why would you lie to a homeless man

this homeless man seemed like he really missed Pete.

and once he sees the real Pete hes gonna be really pissed

  • nice story but yher he gona be mad if he sees pete again and pete for some reason dose`t have a home any more or a recalection of ever having one.

  • how do you do it man, it's not the best story i've ever heard; but the way it was presented was amazing.

  • This film is poetic, inspiring, heartwarming, and simply awesome. Really nice work.

  • Amazing film.

  • wow... that was a real touching video ive ever seen. keep up the good work.

  • I found out my husband has a girlfriend, after two days crying & morning the end of our 37 year marriage, I wrote him a letter, reflecting over my life and questioned myself, I thought it would give me closure, why I picked your video, the universe sometimes knows what we need, the comment "a homeless man that was happy with his life" at that moment I thought, is true we are in control of our own happiness, sometimes inspiration comes in unexpected venues.

  • Did he end it with you or you with him? If he didn't end it with you ..and you left him for that .. you wasted your own 37 years and were mourning the loss of ownership of another human being. If he ended it with you ..then that is a very tragic thing to hear about and I hope you are able to move on

  • do what YOU need to do to heal. don't let other people's opinions cloud your emotions. the comments left on my video are a perfect example. Some are good, some are constructive and then there are the rude ones. I take the ones that mean something to me to heart and ones that effect to to reply. I'm sorry about your marriage. now is the time to wipe life clean and start over.

  • cool video and story. keep up the good work.

  • 5* :)

  • The best four minutes I've spent on Youtube in a While...

  • how did you get a permission to tape there in the middle of train tracks??

  • It's sad to see the ignorance of some of the people who commented this video =/

why do you coment if you'er only going to say stupid things ?

Respect the work of others !!

  • much borring.....superb boring

  • boring

needs ninjas and guns and explosions and helicopters

    and maybe beyonce

  • I don't agree, but I DO appreciate your humour!!!lol

  • i DID use ninjas! they are all hiding...

  • didn't really watch the video but that wasn't really a problem

  • Excellent film, nice editing, naration and storyline, kinda sad and touching.

  • who cares what others say good exucution and direction

  • Very thought provoking.

  • Very good. Was a great story.

For the people who say "this was poorly done, or executed"... was this guy paid to make this? does he have professional equipment at his disposal? does he have soo much time to devote to this?

He made a short video to show that a homeless person is also a human being that has feelings, but is usually just ignored and avoided as a drunk/drug-user.

It's a shame you guys dont concentrate on what's important and readily criticise.

  • well you are a drunk man indeed sir.

  • That was beautiful.

  • Ha im sorry i agree that the story is touching but i think the execuation and the narration is crappy

  • well, what's gonna happen when he runs into the real pete? he's probably mentally ill, so you don't need to be f!@#ing with a guy's head like that. i bet the real pete is nothing like what this guy paints him to be. repurcussions could be worse than this "nice little story."

didn't your momma ever teach you not to lie?

  • aww

    thats like very touching(:

  • nice~ ^ . ^

  • its a great story, video. touching and enlightening, about the little differences we can make, that end up meaning so much.

  • Liked the story because it must resonate with all of us (we are all a few pay cheques away from homelessness). May I ask what you shot the film on? Great work.

  • Surprisingly Good. The voice and tone of narration and story telling was captivating. Hopefully, your viewers will take your message in the hope that you meant it, I know... I did.

  • Yawn.

  • That short film really touch me somewhere inside, good stuff..

  • What's it saying at the beginning?

  • I appreciate the sentiment. I was at the courthouse the other day and early for my appointment. I went to subway and bought a five dollar footlong. I remembered the lowly homeless man talking to himself outside the courthouse. I wound up giving him the other half of the sandwich. When I walked inside and looked out the window he was still talking to himself... but he was smiling. He even chuckled a little. I know he was metally ill, but did I make his day a little brighter?
