Wow, what a beautiful song. And I see absolutely nothing atheistic about it. Quite the contrary, I hear God speaking. This is totally in alignment with what Jesus did and does for us. Thank you for sharing this.
i wanna like it but i just cant ,i guess its just not blatantly joyful enough or something ,im not sure but its christmas morning at 2:15 i wanted something more christmasy .not a bad song but eh i'll just go listen to elvis or something
I love this. I grew up in an atheist/agnostic household and this time of year was about connecting with our loved ones and remembering that Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men is also a secular statement.
I am a firm disbeliever in God (an atheist) and I completely agree with 97xRememberMex97.
If you use the "atheist" in the title or the metaphysical themes in the lyrics as an excuse to not like this song you will be cheating yourself out of a truly beautiful experience. elangworthy I did enjoy the song very much. Thank you
My God comes from a good place, a place that likes to kick snobby high horsed finger pointing christians in the hindend.
He said himself 'do not judge, love one another, don't shame your brother for his sins when you sin yourself' you are all Gods children. And I think there is nothing that puts people off to how wonderful God is like self righteous people who treat others like they don't deserve him.
Odd. I'm not sure what makes this "atheist". Sorry, but this sounds particularly Christian to me. Of course, the lyrics are vague enough that, like an Obama campaign speech (though I repeat myself), you can put anything you want into it.
@isartam Because it's not ábóút God or religion. It's about the beautifulness of humanity, love and peace. Not about a god who's gonna save us all or something. It's just about you and me and all the other people. And it's not 'atheist' like there's not god, but 'a-theist': not about god.
@isartam it's the actual title of the song, not a interpretation hedged by the vide poster. the singer intended to write this song for the non-believers. as you mention, it's the particular ambivalence, or maybe the total absence of religious indications usually represented in other christmas carols, that make the song open to interpretations, including (and mostly likely is the intention of Ms. Teng) secularism and humanism.
I love the font coloring and effects that you use in your videos, particularly this one and Watershed. But for some reason, this video specifically keeps freezing on my computer (it usually stops at 0:40) :(
A beautiful song, song by a woman with a beautiful voice.

Beautiful song and one of my favorites of Vienna Teng's body of work.
Thank you very much for sharing this with the lyrics! More people should hear this and understand the words behind the season.

Sad how a season only makes people nice. Why can't people be this way all year long?

I am a firm believer in God, but there is just such simplicity in the melody of this song. The tune never stops playing in my mind.. Love it!<3

Great job with the timing of the lyrics! I just heard this song for the first time today and fell in love with it. Thank you for posting this!!
P.S. I love that you used a natural green for the lyrics...it fits in well with the mellowness of the song.
