  • OMG! This is SO priceless and amazing! He is a true artist!

  • Please if you are going to comment could you comment about the music not a character on a hit TV series !

  • Recently got this album, its amazing

  • Cab Carraway still better

  • @SpaceJockey3mp *calloway

  • @SpaceJockey3mp u must die killl the non beliver

  • 19 peeps are Dr. cox fans.

  • i love the piano at 2:51

  • I love how the beginning makes you feel like you can see the storm rolling in from the sea.

  • LOVE THIS! keep doing what you do <3

  • mother of god

    it's amazing :x

  • House???

  • I've heard that this song predates America, and in essence, is VERY old. Maybe originally old British Isles..?

  • I just keep listening this! Cannot stop myself. Rewind, listen and repeat! Awesome!

  • Oh man, this is simply sublime! Awesome, awesome!

  • Excellent. Simply excellent.

  • I can't decide whether or not I approve. Great voice, great piano, great music... but together? Eh. Maybe this is what passes for the blues across the pond.

  • @kabulgaf are you a moron? if you dont think this is blues you dont know what the blues is.....son of a bitch I hate musically illiterate morons!!!!

  • @lonewanderer267 I can understand kabulgaf's point of view. Laurie's version is kinda sweet. The Louis Armstrong version (1926) has the grit that Laurie is trying to imitate. Cab Calloway (1930s) did a couple of versions as well, with and without the voice and in each case there was that grit. Hugh Laurie, as the actor we know as Dr. House, doesn't have the same grit as those old guys - and it's not just recording quality - it's just not as poignant / fatalistic. (I'm a musician)

  • After you listen to it it feels like 2 minutes went by.

  • I love this part 0:53 - 1:28! So mysterious!

  • I love this guy in Jeeves and Wooster!

  • I don't want this to happen, but I feel like sometime soon, they'll try to make a musical episode like they did on Greys.

  • @LittleKStack Well, they sort of did with Bombshells, but...not entirely. I think it'd be hysterical to watch House and Wilson running around singing. Especially if House was singing his insults at Foreman. That would just be hysterical.

  • "Outstanding"....Who knew re. hugh Laurie!

  • what hugh laurie can't do?

  • Without quoting House. I can simply say I'm NOT here because of Hugh Laurie...I'm here because this is fantastic music.

  • What a fantastic actor & what a lovely voice too :0)

  • @helloweenarctico There are some mistakes in the lyrics, but I thank you sooooo much for uploading this piece of art :)

  • @IrisxDK There's no such thing as mistakes to the lyrics of St James Infirmary. It doesn't have an author and everyone sings it with different lyrics. It's morphed over many decades and interpretations from an old English song.

  • @bcrbruce Yes , but i was refering to the lyrics of this version. Anyway, doesnt really matter :)

  • That piano playing leaves me speechless and gives me goosebumps...

Oh Hugh you can make music alright!

  • It's never lupus

  • Good Stuff!!

  • Didn't imagine Laurie had this beatiful voice! :)

  • BEST INTRO OF THE YEAR!!

  • :O !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its lupos

  • Love this!!!

  • The version he did on Jay Leno was better.

  • "everybody dies"

  • @pylaochos Shit song. Don't give a fuck...

  • @kugunga this is amazing dude.

  • @madeinthe94s yeah i was only taking the piss, its a great song...

  • @pylaochos everybody LIES ;)

  • Hugh has an amazing voice that was made for singing the blues.

  • a nice twist but i love louis voice when he does it. Check out GLKs version of this song

  • So cold, so sweet, so fair

  • OOOOH SO HOT!

  • this song is so hot...

    Check My Songs

    Paula Lisa

  • Great man!Great actor!Great singer!A geniusssss!!!!

  • Is there anything Hugh can't do?

Comedy with the great Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson, drama with the sexy Olivia Wilde, and now extremely good music?

    Damn.

  • @oromos99 Can he dance that's what we need to know now :P

  • This is so haunting, I love it. Its like sex at a graveyard

  • Comment removed

  • @JessLeeRosa17 You ever hat sex at a graveyard? that's kind of sick =P

  • @HOULL no but Im just saying because of his voice

  • What-ho, Bertie! I say old man, this is bally well spiffing!

  • I saw this entire show on Great Performances on PBS. I still have it on my DVR. I told everyone I will kill the person that will delete it. To SEE Hugh play and sing is really brilliant. My husband and I are from New Orleans and I am proud that he honored us in such a way.

  • That is what we call lady and gentlemen A Genius. PERIOD

  • what a nice surprise. he is so talented. he's a good reminder that just because something's not your job, it doesn't mean you still can't enjoy it and kick ass at it.

  • This guy's so talented. Really I admire his talent.

  • man,i prefer this than depeche mode

  • It's good but i have to agree, this aint the blues.

  • Like this if you looked this up because of the reference to St. James Infirmary in Camus's The Plague

  • it's never lupus!

  • beautiful, thundering sweet sweet piano is so beautiful i want to laugh.

  • Hugh Laurie is so much more than Greg House. :) Love him.

  • @siddalee2008 Hes obviously more.. Hes George from Blackadder!!!!!!!!

  • @fleskmiodogmjiod LOL... yes he is. :)

  • now this is music

  • The Blues ain't about a skin color; its about the soul, Brother Man.

  • this album as of right now is 45 in the world!

  • this is the first time I've heard him play....he gets it...he swings...reminds me of Tom Waits for some reason....nice version of this song

  • You can like or dislike it- fact of the matter is Hugh Laurie love his blues. It's under his skin. That's what I'm hearing. Good job, Hugh! You just keep on digging deep- it's only going to get better and better ; )

  • I think i'ts a good version...but i like more the Armstrong version.

and about the people that are saying bullshit....."Let them Talk" the blues isn't in the color of your skin

  • very talented man in many fields…

  • HEY HUGH!!!

CAN I MEET YOU ONE DAY?!

  • Totally love Hugh Laurie. ♥

I wish he was my father...

    that would be awkward..

anyway, still him and my father both have the love of music and they find beauty in it. It's their escape (:

  • Okay, this one I think is really good. Haven't listened to all of them yet but "Let Them Talk" has something, possibly a richness, missing. It's got a great deal of potential but I wasn't really feeling it while listening.

  • He found the motherlode when he found New Orleans music. It's an interesting interpretation of one of my favorite songs. Would love to see him live.

  • Wow. Not bad. It's... interesting.

  • SEASON 8 HOUSE!

  • @icecreamforcrowhurst um, Hugh Laurie has always been a musician. He isn't putting on an act as you call it. To shred on this guy is very short sighted.

  • @icecreamforcrowhurst Dude, Hugh Laurie has always been a musician, he is just trying new stuff now that he got famous, must be quite boring to interpret the same character over and over for 7 years straight and don't explore others oportunities. If you look on youtube his old sketchs you'll see that he composed a lot of songs for Tv.

  • This is awesome!! Just wish people wouldn't have a go at him for being "to white"! The blues ain't about the colour of your skin, its a feeling! And if you had ever see him sing you would know he sure is feeling it!!

  • @ColinsProopkitten exactly. I'd like someone to tell Eric Clapton that and see what he says.

  • @jpmartin05 Why does it matter? its good music, enjoy it and stop trying to label.

  • @jpmartin05 "Ain't the blues?" WTF?? Obviouly you don't know jack about the blues. This song in any version is definitively the blues. "It's not bad" Really? Its probably one of the best versions of this song ever. Go back to listen to Lady Gaga!

  • @christoj879 maybe it's lupus

  • @miku1253 15 people likes Grey's Anatomy

  • @helloweenarctico I like Grey's Anatomy... I like House more. I also love A Bit Of Fry And Laurie, Black Adder, and all the other things people seem to forget Hugh Laurie is also in.

  • @miku1253 IT'S NOT LUPUS!

  • @miku1253 its not lupus xaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxa

  • @miku1253 It's not lupus, it's never lupus. =P

  • @miku1253 run some tests

  • @00700jj Screw the tests, just treat it.

  • @miku1253 never is lupus

  • @miku1253 It's NEVER lupus!!! >:(

  • @matthew623210 or Sarcoidosis.

  • My ovaries exploded.

  • Brilliant song. I always find it really jarring to see/listen to Hugh Laurie now after watching him in Blackadder. It's a strange contrast. Brilliant man though.

  • Thank you Hugh , splendid !

  • Does anyone know where I can find sheet music for this?

  • Just recived my copy of this CD and love it.

  • Holy fuck he's good.

  • @3234718 below are 3 more updates from me read them from bottom to top meaning read the 3rd one down first and the one directly below last for it to make sense thank you

  • @3234718 with a spring in my step so inside 10 mins where I had been reduced to lying flat on my back on my bed for relief from extreme pain I was able to go and volunteer and give young people a safe place to go for the evening. prayer has done so much for me in my life these 2 examples happened just this week in a space of 3 days I dont ask that you believe i pray someday you will but I dont force it on you and I dont insult you or your way of life please show me and others the same respect

  • @philiproy1 I'm glad your brother is ok and I'm terribly sorry if I hurt your feelings. What point would these stories have illustrated if your brother killed himself and your back pain didn't subside? Also, punctuation is a wonderful thing.

  • @3234718 strange this question should come this week in the last 7 days I have 2 personal stories I can use to illustrate my point no evidence no but with god thats parcel and package otherwise why have faith right so prayer first example 1.my brother recently separated from his fiancée he was depressed to the point of suicide one morning whilst talking to him on the phone at work he said I would not see him tonight as he would be gone that night me and a fellow Christian prayed for him

  • @3234718

Just open up your eyes and look around you. The evidence is plain to see wherever you look. Don't be so cynical or you'll only die alone and unhappy

  • @TheFishenigma Can you tell me about this evidence and how it suggests the existence of your god? Also, which god are you talking about? We can go to email if you want. You strike me as the kind of person that never really considered the other side of the argument.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • @arbaglio08 I don't hate Hugh Laurie... I just think this is a cynical exercise to cash in on his (relatively) recent American profile.

  • Self-indulgent crap. Been done better by numerous other artists!

  • ...this is just so perfect. what more could you ask for? hugh laurie singing, hugh laurie piano-playing, good jazzy beat, i mean come on!

  • Is there anything this fella canNOT do?!!?

  • ...He is God. He can do anything. Praise be his name. Oh Mr. Laurie, share with us your wisdom of all that is great. Your divine British comedy. Your wondrous american accent. Your amazing, epic acting. Please, Hugh, stay with us.

  • ...He is God. He can do anything. Praise be his name. Oh Mr. Laurie, share with us your wisdom of all that is great. Your divine British comedy. Your wondrous american accent. Your amazing, epic acting. Please, Hugh, stay with us.

    Amen.

    Amen.

  • Is this Hugh Laurie singing??? o.O if so i had no idea he could sing

  • @Kuastoyn

Suprise! It's so him! He did bits on the show he did with Stephen Fry..."fry and laurie show" or some such. Look it up!

    You might really dig it.

  • @Kuastoyn yeah it is ;)

  • can somebody get a sheet for this?

  • @wictorhun3 that would really be awesome

  • @wictorhun3 please, where can i download this sheet?

  • jack of all trades

  • @RickyScarlet I agree. He's just amazing. This is my favorite song.

  • @RickyScarlet absolutely

  • perfect!!!

  • Hugh Laurie is clearly multi-talented, but this version can't hold a candle to Louis Armstrong's version. This version is all flash, no soul.

  • i love everything about this tune!can anyone help me find something that sounds like this!?let's make a playlist starting with this one!something that makes scotch whiskey taste better and being alone feel like it's a way of life....msg me!be my dj :)

  • Decent cover, prefer Cab's and The Devil Makes three's

  • @RickyScarlet - Hahaha - exactly my thought. England football team, cricket team - he ought to try out.

  • S'okay, but he's hot doggin' it, and this song benefits from simplicity and balls out madness. In a sense, it's too perfect.

  • Come on over to Barnes and Noble and pick one up!!! We have tons!

  • love the sound quality

  • nice but i'll always like satchmo's cover better. way to go hugh!

  • @rendros88 Or that the whole album is nothing but covers.

  • @thepinkertons823 Indeed.

  • Does anyone have sheet music for this song?

  • @Shemyification - Right on! Ya gotta check out the Cab Calloway 'toon version.

  • The albums at Starbucks for anyone who is wondering where they can find it

  • @Hotsauce850 yes yes will be buying two tomorrow :D

  • @Hotsauce850 Thats where i found it!! My boyfriend loves him and I dont believe he know about it yet. :D lets just say he has a surprise waiting:)

  • I heard this song 5 times today :))) LOve it not because Dr.House is singing but HUGH LAURIE

  • I want this album sooo badly I'm about ready to go an hour out of my way to get it. he's incredibly talented and a blessing to the music scene which is lacking the soul of this genre

  • i just bought this album the other day, it's fantastic.......:)

  • pretty good actor, excellent musician

  • Comment removed

  • kinda ironic... st james' infirmary.... house..... anyone???

  • @HarryIcedTea :D And only if Hugh was acting in Cast Away instead of Tom Hanks, how ironic would that be...

  • this guy is a real artist.

  • Hugh Laurie ROCKS.

Im 15 and i listen to blues ;).

Blues= Real Music, makes u think about the world.

  • @daanmagier rock does too.. and metal of course.. and classic does too :) And I'm sixteen and I also like this!
