I never really liked dance to much until I seen this. I never thought of dance putting out a message. This changed the way I look at dance. Thanks Tyce for this.....
this piece is simply amazing. there are really no words to express the effect this has on everyone especially people who directly been affected by breast cancer. Does anyone know what date this dance was on the show for the first time?
Sarah drew from Greys is in the audience. Her and Elen are so fortunate to have been able to see such poetry in motion live. Ade ,my favorite dancer ever!!
the whole video-the story behind it,the dancing, the judges esp mia-never fails to bring at least a few tears to my eyes no matter how many times i watch it.
The best thing was being apart of Women's Work choreographed by Michele Larkin in appreciation of this routine for her. Best two years doing that routine . Thank you Tyce and Michele.
I have watched this at least 25 times in the last week--unblievably poignant. I love dancers and choreographers--Tyce is pure genius and Ade as well and the beautiful ballet dancer-----I am entranced. Thank you for posting this high level video. Love love love to you.
Having both my grandmas and 1 grandpa pass away due to cancer this video touched me deep. I wish I had gotten to know my grandpa better since I was really young when he passed. I will always always remember the times I had with my grandmas and I will always love them all.
i cried and cried not because of the dance but because of the message that they were portraying... My best friend had cancer and I wish I'd had that strenght to not stop her from giving in but in a way I feel as though I failed her and did not act like I should have. I really miss her and want her back.:*(
Still one of the most unforgettable numbers on the show. Whenever dancers are doing an emotional piece, my mind always, always, always comes back to this piece. Almost surreal....
I haven't had experience with cancer either from first-hand or not but still when i watched it todayou don't have to have dealt with cancer the message is so powerful it touches so deep inside everyone who is watching it
So that people stop commenting on the familiar faces in the audience, and start focusing on the dance: Yes it is Sarah Drew (April Kepner in Grey's Anatomy) at 6:40, and yes it is Alexis Mason (Jeanine's sister) at 6:57.
When YOU face a crisis in life and depend on God and others for your strength, this is a piece that touches you to the core. I was MORE than grateful for this number when I needed to see it the most.
It's the emotion the dance conveys, through their movements a story is told. You don't have to know a damn thing about dance to be able to FEEL when you see something like this and be touched.
dance can show so many emotions that you can't even think
when you dance you feel the music and you can feel every move every massage that the song tell's and how you dance you tell the message with your body your steps your face and your hearth
@ramybes1com This comment just made you seem so much more ignorant than you already are. If you want to avoid being trolled on, then don't bother commenting on a topic you have no knowledge on.
@aznbgirl06 You pathetic asshole, when i commented this i clearly said i mean no harm with it, so you're saying that if have no idea about dancing then i should just ignore dancing? what a pathetic loser you are.
@ramybes1com it took me a while too feel the emotion that comes from a dance too. but for me it just took finding the right routine and even joining a dance class and now this piece brings me to tears every time. i personally didn't find your comment rude or disrespectful at all.
Mia's commetns at the end moved me the most. ANd i couldn 't help but cry too. What a powerful speech (analysis) of the dance and i completely understand how mia went through when her dad was struggling with cancer
how can people dislike this? to me, its the most emotional and perfect dance in this whole show. it was, and still is a never forget performance. I think that the people who disliked this were more focused on the steps than the story and message. Dislikers, Melissa was talking to you.
My best friend died of cancer shortly after I saw this, so it still touches me in a way no other art form ever has. It's simply breathtaking! R.I.P. Hermide Pierre Toussaint. I love and miss you so very much. :'-(
I showed this to my aunt, thinking that she'd like it, but she loathed it! She thought making a dance about a tragedy as personal as breast cancer was in the worst taste. She was really disgusted. She hated Mia Michaels' heaven dance, too. Be careful with whom you share things you love.
@major600 I'm sorry you're aunt feels that way. It should be the message that shines through, that those enduring cancer are not alone in their struggle. The dance is just a medium for that message. Personally, I don't see how a dance meant to honor the people who struggle with cancer can possibly be seen as made in poor taste. The same is true of any form of art that accomplishes the same effect, in my opinion.
@major600 - your aunt is certainly entitled to her own opinion, but speaking as one who is currently dealing with cancer in her family, I have to say that this piece is absolutely outstanding. The strength and love shown by Ade and Melissa are inspiring. The heaven dance you spoke of is another of my favorites. Always love. Always.
The fact that the judges, in particular Nygel were so moved by this performance, even though he had previously seen it first performed in the UK version, to me, speaks volumes. This version was much better, given that melissa was more mature and understood that this performance was more than just the steps. Ade's strength was just the icing on the that put this version over the top. My all-time favorite routine.
Season 2 and 4 were good. REALLY good but two of the greatest pieces of work that I've ever seen came from S5. The Addiction piece and this incredibly empowering piece about breast cancer were on my mind for days. Nigel said it best. Dance allows you to communicate something so powerful without words....
I met Tyce at a dance convention, he was a teacher, about 7 years ago. Everyone was swooning. He was nice, but seemed a bit arrogant. I was young though. Regardless though, brilliant choreographer. Brilliant.

susan murphy and anyone else who has died becuase of cancer RIP<3
The highest achievement in dance is not to win titles, trophies, or competitions, but it is to move and touch people. Melissa and Ade certainly did that through Tyce's choreography in this beautiful tribute to millions of people forced to muster up the courage to battle cancer. It just doesn't get better.
It was just beautiful. I saw it on a cable channel just this week. I can't think of a better way, in so short time, how to people can show the pain and the strugle that is fighting cancer. My mom died of this and I is just the live image of her in this dance... Surely one of the most beautiful but also sad things I've seen in my life... Also from Venezuela supporting the show but mostly the Performing Arts. There is nothing that can express better the human emotions but throug art...
I just saw this piece here in my countrie Venezuela. and I just have to say: IT WAS AMAZING!!! I've been crying since I saw it! Honestly, This performance tkae my breath far away!! Thanks to So You Think You Can Dance for giving us too much talent! Thanks dor everything!! My best wishes for you! Greetings from Venezuela!!..
The first time I saw this in tv I cried even thought I don't have a friend or family who have a cancer! But when I found out just last month one of my friend had a cancer! I cry more than to her but when she show me this dance routine n telling me she need me to be strong for her! I will never forget this dance routine!
i didnt cry watching on tv, but this time the moment the video began i'm crying hahaha :)

No matter how amazing a dance is, there're always some people don't like it. I just don't get it. Something must go really wrong with them.

The first time I saw this in tv I cried even thought I don't have a friend or family who have a cancer! But when I found out just last month one of my friend had a cancer! I cry more than to her but when she show me this dance routine n telling me she need me to be strong for her! I will never forget this dance routine!
