I saw Niatross race a few times but was most impressed with him in 1995 when they took him from the farm to showcase him at Freehold Raceway.He was almost 17, his eyes and coat looked great. I asked his handler, how he looked so good at his age.I was told he got bored easy so they treat him with letting him go in the sulky I was told when he trained he would want to turn and start to race.He still went quarters in 30 or so and halves in 60 His trainer swore he could still do 56 if trained down.
@jimmybryght jimmy I watched niatross at buffalo raceway and he won by 14 lenghts clint never used the wip, after the race he hold me and some friends that he was like driving a cadi, and he was hanging on for dear life down the stretch and said he had a lot more in the tank.
Something almost supernatural about that horse. Of course since his retirement many have gone much faster due to breeding, better track conditions, drugs etc, but I have never seen a horse dominate the way Niatross did, nor see so much desire in one horse either.

He was truly a amazing boy, so was niatross, she was saying that her friend owned a throughbred and told her to race. so he was gallopping on his throughbred, and Jerry just went into a racing speed and weent right past his horse. Lol. Jerry was a sweetheart. :P R.I.P. Jerry.
thats the reason you will never see a horse like SBSW or Dewey race past 3 ...hard to compare horse against horse if they only race two years...Cam Fella was better at 4 than he was at 3...which most say is the toughest transition...hell look at Shadowplay so far this year...or even Art Official...i still believe SBSW is the best ever but my heart will always go back to the Pacing Machine
no doubt in my mind that Niatross and Cam Fella are in the top 5 of everyones list of greatest standardbreds of all time...as they should be,,,both of them changed the face of the industry..as far as speed and stamina and money goes...personally i think Lou Guida fucked the entire industry with the money he threw out for Niatross...
I miss brandywine! WE dont know what we have till its all gone...... now we can say thank you target cashier , i will be back to tomorrow to enjoy the snackbar and do my shopping in your establishment while thinking of the guy who turned this fucking country into a shopping mall was a genius.... thank the guy who frigged up for everybody kids----- "thanks friggen guy"
Somebeachsomwhere will become one of the best Harness horses. Mcdonell doesn't even ask the horse for anything. Can you imagine if someone sets a quick pace, Im sure this horse can Pace in 1:47.
@Elniko444 do u recall he screwded that horse royally one race when he went to a 53 half in a big purse and ran up the track ?, that guy a a screw up and a criminal.
i was their back in 1980 it was a great night when niatross won the battle of brandywine. i really miss brandywine raceway. it was one of favorite tracks.
