Being from N.Y and an avid mma fan, I can say from experience that MMA would be huge for the state. The politicians talk about MMA promoting violence, then they should also bann hockey as well, after all there are fights all the time and little kicks play all the time, they should also stop showing Tom and Jerry on T.V, shit 2 characters hitting each other with bats with spikes in them!!! Bottom line is its up to the parents to regulate what the kids are watching.

i do martial arts, and i have mixed feelings about mma, a part of me looks at how brutal and shocking it is, and how we as a race cherish and nuture violence, but another part of me looks at how much fun it is (cos i do spar and grapple at my dojo) and how it is as matt says 'a contact sport' and should be treated as such, i really want to talk to some people about it to make my own opinion, if you want to, please message me and we can talk about it :)

I have never met a professional athlete like Serra. At the Columbus show, he walked outside around the stadium and stopped for every picture and every handshake anyone wanted. I wasn't a Serra fan until I saw him do that, now he is one of my favorites.

Their first fight was not rigged, Matt was swinging for the fences and GSP got caught, plain and simple. GSP underestimated Serra power and paid for it. Serra is a decent fighter, maybe in the top 20 in his division but definitly no where near GSP's talent.

If you go back and watch the fight, it wasn't a one punch knockout so it kind of defeats your argument about "swinging for the fences"...it was more like kicking GSP's ass for a 60 second period...it was rigged...watch the last 20 seconds of the fight when Serra was on top...he misses at least 50 % of his shots but yet GSP still taps?...and who taps to punches anyway...
