@AlmightyZEDANIUM no its not. This card is useless if you plan to record sound. For instance if you try to use Wave Out for sound input (i.e. recording sound from youtube clip) the wave recorded will contain constant crackling, and volume fluctuations. Totally useless. However, playback and in-game sound is almost perfect. But, recording sucks balls. I hate this fucking card, it aint worth $180. Audigy 2 ZS on the other hand, was way better at recording, but sucked at playbck on modern chipsets

@AlmightyZEDANIUM Mic-In and Line-In (2xRCA Left and Right) and both inputs are on the front panel of X-Fi I/O Drive. Recording will be OK, only if your recording software can adjust latency and sample buffers on-the-fly (Sound Forge 5.0 for instance can not.) in Sony Vegas it was ok. Well, another Input is Digital-In (TOSLINK) on the back of the card I have to check. I don't have any devices with Optical outputs. This could be the best one, since it has Bit-Matched recording on it.

But without "what-u-hear" or "wave out" (well, it can record from those, but the quality just sucks) card is almost useless. Lets say you work in multi-track Vegas or Audition or Abletone and you need to render a piece..(mixdown so to speak) and all you get is crackle here and there, random volume ramps... do u still want this card? Try Auzen or Asus Xonar ...If I could sell this x-fi, I'd buy ESI Julia or ESI Maya44. Price is about the same, no EAX 5.0 yes, but at least you get decent sound.

If you don't believe me, try browsing creative labs support forums.. you'll see how many problems people facing with these cards, and how much resolution from support team they get. Or just google Creative X-FI Snap/Crackle/Pop )

@AlmightyZEDANIUM Essense sounds really impressive (I won't say anything about its recording capabilities and quality, because I didn't test it myself, just heard how it sounds on good monitors at my friends home) But I'd go with Egosis Juli@ if I were you, its very good, professional card. Take a look at it, read reviews, comments etc. LFMF so to speak;-)

They do have a metal bar ear to ear but don't drop them lol .Im going to make a headset holder for them on my computer desk.Had the gamecon 377 but a few drops and the shaft broke might cost $40.00 to fix them if i send them back but not now .

VVComp, I recommend the Blue Snowball Mic, I bought mine from newegg for $100.00 to do my video tutorials and I sound amazing on it (I really don't sound nearly that good in real life lol) - it is a professional audio mic. I think you'd love it, best money I ever spent. You can watch one of my earlier Hello World series videos (I sound like a geek-weasel) and then watch one of my more recent... it's quite hilarious.

Oh, and I use a Logitech Headset... and don't recommend it :D
