I actually cry almost every time when I see this clip. It´s like the most heart touching scene ever <3 And the moment at 3:33 really gives me cold waves (Is that right?) And I´m only 12 year old boy. But I still rather life in 80´s than today when all the music is mostly some stupid rap, pop or dubstep??? I mean give some respect for these guys who maked this video because it´s so awesome. This clip itself is even better than these million dollar budjet movies today. Sry for bad english :)
Coolest damn thing. As we were making our way to South Miami coming from the Keys we got off and made our way through Coral Gables. As we did that this song Air in the Night came on the radio. As a fan of Miami Vice and now the Burn Notice, how much better can than than get?. I love South Florida. Having been here three times now. It is almost my second home.
Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of Miami Vice! Loved the show and this song goes perfectly with it!! They always nice songs on the show & a lot of them turned out to be my favorites!!
This is a long shot but I've been wanting to find a clip of a Miami Vice episode I remember as a kid. It was similar to this vid as far as its effect on me. All I remember was this lady, red head/freckles, Crockett might have been interested in her and she might have had some kind of drug issues. The end of the scene had a house on fire or something... I don't know, the girl, the fire, the music, whole scene was memorable to me for some reason. If anyone knows the scene I'd love to see it again.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@frankfly232 Don was cool, sure. But "one of the best actors of his generation"??? Thats going a little too far. I have always been a fan myself. But I am also a fan of "great" acting. And this aint it.
My buddy Jim and I were 13 and 14. We sat there in awe. We'd never seen anything like this on TV before. Our MTV brains were in love with it. It has stayed with me ever since, as a prime example of cool tension build-up, and of how music can just elevate a scene to where you are totally involved and nothing else matters.
@captnavenger I totally agree. I used to seal up my room on Friday nights and sit in front of the TV with a pack of smokes and watch this shit like it was television crack. I was floored. Don was the shit. I ached to be that cool. I just wanted to get inside my TV with those dudes. I lived in a Miami Vice fantasy land for years.
And so it began, TV history where music was incorporated into a show that added to subtle nuance of story telling and many have tried to imitate it and many have failed to rise to its standards. Good job, Michael Mann.
I saw the tire spinning on the Ferrari at that low angle and the music kicked in and it gave me a chill for a moment. Flashbacks are a bitch sometimes.
@whitepolly The episode is only shown in 2 parts mostly when rebroadcast on television. In the original airing & on the subsequent DVD releases the whole 90 mins is shown as 1 whole episode.
it was genius with the no wind. only hearing their voices the loading of the gun the car door opening and shutting and peeling out. No engine Just the occasional noise and the music
absolutely Epic Cool. those times don't ever return... the entire uncanny anticipation and streetlined-illuminated flow becomes really tangible and genuine with the music.
The only flaw with this clip is the aspect ratio. How hard could it be to not upload 4:3 material as 16:9?
For those who somehow can't see this - Try looking at the close-ups of the wheels with your head tilted 90 degrees. Aren't wheels supposed to be round?
Please ....bring back this kind of TV, because reality TV is just okay but not memorable like this great show was. Theres so many damn shows out now and none have that it factor. oh well at least we got youtube.
For those of you complaining about how today's television & film culture needs to be like it was ''back in the day'' well NEWSFLASH: Why do you think we have so many remakes and less originality in terms of ''defining a whole new generation''? Look at the Miami Vice film: Failure!!! Look at the 90210 & Melrose Place remakes : Failures!! 80s Horror Movie Remakes : Failures!!! STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PAST AND DEMAND MORE ORIGINALITY!!

It will never be reproduced and it will be hard pressed for any TV show to stack up ti this today.
If this show was made 20 years later he'd just make that call on his cell phone instead of looking for a phone booth :). Probably one of the best shows of the 80's.
im wi th 25paulwalsh......what is this scene about i understand that sonny flipped out that his old partner and best friend that he trusted was part of the criminal activities but what was crocket talkin about to his x wife on the payphone what was he thinkin about
man this is the shit .I love this what a piece of history in tv .What a great song and tv show.I am so thankfull to have all 5 seasons to watch and a huge projector and load ass speakers for sound .Phil colins and this song this show was the greatest ever .
@25paulwalsh he flipped out that his partner that he trusted around his family was part of criminal activities i think but im lost about what he was talkin about to his wife on the payphone
@veteran1970 yes, but the main point was to see if what they had was at least the real thing, because he was so disillusioned by what had with his partner. He "needed" to something in his life was real and purposeful even if it was only one thing, so he could continue forward
Great clip from one of my all time favourite tv-shows. I dont think there has ever been a song in a movie or a tv-show that the music has been so spot on as it is here in this scene. The downside to it all is that watching this reminds me of how old I have become... Thank you so much for uploading.
