Hey DeadEndHipHop fans!! I know this is a legit show about true hip hop, so that's why I'm posting this here. I'm a 16 year old white rapper from SC trying to get some feedback. I'm all about lyrical rap, none of that Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller bullshit. Check me out if you get a chance! Dead End Hip-Hop 4 life!!!
@dmdpro5 people dont hate ross for having a real job people hate rick ross for having a real job but promoting drug dealing in his music how the hell you gone have a 401k plan and tell kids you sold coke ? If he had a job and admitted it there would be no issue he refused to admitt he was a CO because his conscience is aware he portrays his self as a coke lord! that's whats fucked up w/ the world my friend
@Deadendhiphop I agree with Beezy430 and Myke C when they said he's simple:I dont listen to the dude but I can tell you what he's going to rap about before he starts 1 of the 4: Money, cars, women or drugs. He hardly ever raps about anything else. As Ken said, he is VERY hot right now though. I agree with Feefo too about the beats. I listen to his intrumentals to write my material.
wow Americans are weird. So he was a CO so what? Get over it already!!!! man tried to feed his kids. u lot glorify gangsta and hav posters of Al pacino but scarface was just a movie!!! just listen to his music n sell drugs or wateva u do for streed cred. Ingnorant mofos..lmao
@mykectown Yo I did the same thing! I was deleting tracks as I listened to em lol I'm a Ross fan, at time he presents his music in a lavish way especially on Mafia Music 2 and Aston Martin music. He does well in that atmospheric/fancy lifestlye/cruising type music, but when he gets on them Lex Luger beats, then everything is going in that recycle bin lol
I love Rick Ross. Not because he's a great rapper or because he has maybachs and shit. I love him coz he has a bunch of haters calling him fake, and he still has the tenacity to make mixtapes and albums. Shit, I know he aint dealing drugs and I know the content of his songs are fucking fake. But I listen to him coz he's one determined motherfucker. If that was someone else i bet he'd be retired by now.
i didnt even get threw the whole mixtape i dint even listen to the nas track i stopped after stay schemin but i did listen to Illmatic a few days ago and nas did kill dat shit on ross mixtape i was llike 3 yrs old when Illmatic came out sooooo.....yea
Why are yall hating on rick for being fake? MF DOOM and Nas, eminem are also other rappers who have a credibility issue. I'm not saying that DOOM said he sold drugs, but he doesn't do anything he says he does. I
@Realismysoul actually he is portraying a villain, not a superhero. I was trying to say why DOOM is accepted and Rick Ross isn't. They are both not being real, just using personas
@888kermit While I agree with your argument, your example is poor. I agree it's dumb to criticize Ross for rapping about shit he never did. Lots of rappers embellish. That's part of telling stories. It's not always about the facts, it's about the message. Not saying Ross has a message, but I hope you see my point. Comparing that to DOOM is silly because he's giving you OBVIOUS fiction not meant to be believed. Ross is giving you things he wants you to believe that happen to be false.
@8182steven That's a stupid question to ask. I commented because I'm subscribed to the show, which makes my comments even more like-able, so why the fuck would you reply to me lol
really forget rick ross credibility this mixtape suck I love down south music. Ross's mixtape was boring afterward listen to over a hundred times rap about coke and money. Thank God for Drake and Nas who came in and gave this mixtape a boost.
@TRlPZ No we don't, we liked T.I.'s mixtape he's not conscious, Das Racist is not conscious, Mr Muthafuckin Exquire is not conscious, Torae is not conscious. We've review a lot of artist that wasn't conscious.
@chefshadowfy I wouldn't dare compare them two, Rae delivery is much better than Ross. No comparison to me. Just don't care much for Ross only thing good I can say about him is that he's improve from his first album to his newest but that's about it.
I agree with Feefo, just because it's Rick Ross don't mean you have to like it. Just because it sounds similar to what he always does, doesn't make it good. I can't speak for Feefo but maybe he's bored of Rick Ross because that's where I'm at.
I was in Atlanta last week and I regret not trying to find these motherfuckers on the street some time. I wanted to see my boy C-Town, talk about metal and weird shit. Weeeaaakkk
whenever i look at Rick Ross i think to myself 'somebody needs to tell Uncle Phil to get his fat, slow, bearded ass off the mic and go back to Bel Air where he belongs'
im tired of the whole Boss shit with rick ross its he been makin boss songs since fuckin 2007 he recycled im not a star twice now i wanna hear a song about how to hide drugs in a jail cell or something to repay the drug community for being a fuckin liar
@jpoodle Of all those guys you mentioned Ross is the most aware of his character. When 50 ousted him as a former cop he didn't shy away but went 300 times deeper into his bawse character. He exaggerates his personality more and more after each project and he makes it sound hilarious/hard as hell. No disrespect but I don't think you've listened to a Rick Ross album. I suggest you give Teflon Don a listen with an open mind and see how you like it - it might open your mind a bit.
Myke is maaaad as fuck. The tape was inconsistent but by no means was it garbage. And it's a shame y'all don't give Ross credit for his presence on a song and the way he stepped up his pen game since Deeper Than Rap. This is coming from a Blu, Atmosphere, Nas, Tribe, Elzhi and Snoop fan.
I feel like the only reason anybody know who the fuck Rick Ross is is because he collabs with Drake and Lil Wayne like 24/7.. Most of those songs are alright. but when you get get to him just rapping by himself you find out that hes ass as hell.
i dont think feefo realizes the character rick ross and the person rick ross are not the same. there's no credibility issue because he's not looking for credibility. he's telling stories. and he's doing a damn good job if you think there's a credibility issue involved.
@chefshadowfy He's telling story he's not claiming to be a kingpin. Unlike Rick Ross does all the time. The real Rick Ross already called officer Ricky out just can't take his wack rhyming self seriously.
@beezy430 Rae and Ross often spit fiction. Fine wine, guns, hot cars. Corner boys don't roll around with that. Their narrative characters (fictional) are kingpins. Ross tells a story on many a song, "Triple Beam Dreams" being his best example.
"Khaki suits and some niggas go to acting cute/
We was all cool stacking in Acura coupes/
More accurately we acted as if jacking was cool/
Snatching niggas out they shirts, wear they jacket to school.
@chefshadowfy Listen to CREAM Raekwon's verse matter of fact listen to any verse from Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, "I grew up on the crime side the NY time side staying alive was no job" dudes never claim the stuff Rick Ross claims. Plus they told a lot of stories in their rhymes too. Rick Rioss rapping like he actually did that. I don't know I just can't take dude seriously and he's not that good of a rapper to me
Im not a Ross fan so I wont even bother giving this guy a chance. I wont hate on him though because I respect the fact that he is staying in the limelight. I just dont like the way he raps.
Surely no one thought Rick Ross actually ran the streets of Miami, right? When you listen to Mafioso Rap (which is his main sub-genre), you shouldn't expect them to be drug lords. They take on that life in narrative form and entertain you with it. Don't knock Ross for that reason, if at all. I get tired of that stuff.
Did you think Raekwon, Kool G Rap, Ghostface, and all other Mafioso rappers were kingpins? Is so, you're a fool, and if not, don't knock Ross.
@chefshadowfy Agreed, but the NY rappers you named had no background as Correctional Officers, & they never took the names of ex drug lords, plus the three you named all were in the streets doing "business," Ross wasn't. Maybe they weren't Kingpins as they claim, but they have waay more credibility than Ricky
@jpoodle I just value narrative skill. Ross has a degree of narrative skill. Not as much as G Rap, GFK, or Rae, but skill nonetheless. Listen to Tears of Joy for an introspective Ross, or All The Money In The World.
Ross's persona might've leaked too far into the real world, but it's not like people can't see through it. He's constantly acting a part. And that's fine, if it's known that you're just joking.
@chefshadowfy I'm a Ross fan, I still play Teflon Don, heard it again about 4 weeks ago, good album. "And that's fine, if it's known that you're just joking," but he's dead ass serious about it. If you ask em if he a gangsta, Ross gon tell you he a gangsta. That's why people can't fuck with His music sometimes, I see good music sometimes, but that shit's just frontin
@chefshadowfy Yo, Jay-Z in character, Pusha T in character, 2Pac in character, DJ Khaled is in character, but Ross is dead ass serious, he really thinks he's the big kid on the streets. I've seen Pusha & Pac interviews, they're not like what they say in rhymes, Jay's in character because in all his interviews/book he's different; I've "met" Khaled (lol) & trust that he's a character too, but Ross is fake & won't admit it. Prove to me he's in character then.
@jpoodle So, you think that Ross truly believes his rhymes? Wow. The man's not crazy. He just tries too hard, when it comes to his lyrical persona.
He doesn't know when to quit, and now that everyone knows that he (probably) has no crack connections, he might not see any reason to stop. He has no incentive to confess his "lies," when everyone knows already.
@chefshadowfy I don't think he truly believes them, but he tries to make it seem like that. I've heard Nas & Bun B talk (in separate interviews) about how they are different than their rap personas, but Ross makes no separation from his caracter. He knows that we all know hes fake, but he won't come out to it.
@jpoodle So, you think that Ross truly believes his rhymes? Wow. The man's not crazy. He just tries too hard, when it comes to his lyrical persona.

I fucks with Teflon Don b/c of songs like "Free Mason", "Tears of Joy" "Maybach Music 3" & "Live Fast, Die Young" but whenever he steps into his flashy, money talking realm I can't fuck with him! His flow & wordplay has enhanced since "Hustlin" but he's still wack to me. #salute
drake got fucking manhandled on that remix. and that little fucking corny ass bar came back to bite him when common got on it.
you see the thing is common made his shit personal. if you look at it his verse, it refers to drake and drake alone. same thing was to ice cube back when "the bitch in yoo" dropped. Cube and Mac 10 came real generic with it, violent lyrics that could just as easily be directed at anyone. Drake did the same thing as far as meaningless bars and genericness goes. bitch
i dont care dude was a PO or whatever he was. Real people can speak on real things from any kind of life experience. Thats not even the issue. The issue with him IS THAT HE FUCKING SUCKS AT RAPPING.

I don't know I just can't take dude seriously and he's not that good of a rapper to me
beezy430 1 month ago
@beezy430 First verse form "Knuckleheadz" from OB4CL.
Lay on the crime scene, sipping fine wines, pulling nines on
UFOs, taking they fly clothes, they eyes closed
We getting loot, no doubt, check the word of mouth
Unheard about, guns go off, and now I murder route
First person narrative. Wine, guns, murders, money.
Technically, there's a vast gap, but don't knock him for "credibilty." That basket is shot through with holes. Rae isn't a kingpin.
Your reasoning for criticizing him is invalid.

Im not a Ross fan so I wont even bother giving this guy a chance. I wont hate on him though because I respect the fact that he is staying in the limelight. I just dont like the way he raps.

I agree with Myke C Town. Why are you even covering this ?!
DelzTheRebel 1 month ago
Surely no one thought Rick Ross actually ran the streets of Miami, right? When you listen to Mafioso Rap (which is his main sub-genre), you shouldn't expect them to be drug lords. They take on that life in narrative form and entertain you with it. Don't knock Ross for that reason, if at all. I get tired of that stuff.
Did you think Raekwon, Kool G Rap, Ghostface, and all other Mafioso rappers were kingpins? Is so, you're a fool, and if not, don't knock Ross.
chefshadowfy 1 month ago
@chefshadowfy Agreed, but the NY rappers you named had no background as Correctional Officers, & they never took the names of ex drug lords, plus the three you named all were in the streets doing "business," Ross wasn't. Maybe they weren't Kingpins as they claim, but they have waay more credibility than Ricky
jpoodle 1 month ago
@jpoodle I just value narrative skill. Ross has a degree of narrative skill. Not as much as G Rap, GFK, or Rae, but skill nonetheless. Listen to Tears of Joy for an introspective Ross, or All The Money In The World.
Ross's persona might've leaked too far into the real world, but it's not like people can't see through it. He's constantly acting a part. And that's fine, if it's known that you're just joking.
chefshadowfy 1 month ago
@chefshadowfy I'm a Ross fan, I still play Teflon Don, heard it again about 4 weeks ago, good album. "And that's fine, if it's known that you're just joking," but he's dead ass serious about it. If you ask em if he a gangsta, Ross gon tell you he a gangsta. That's why people can't fuck with His music sometimes, I see good music sometimes, but that shit's just frontin
jpoodle 1 month ago
@jpoodle He isn't serious. He's just in character.
chefshadowfy 1 month ago
@chefshadowfy Yo, Jay-Z in character, Pusha T in character, 2Pac in character, DJ Khaled is in character, but Ross is dead ass serious, he really thinks he's the big kid on the streets. I've seen Pusha & Pac interviews, they're not like what they say in rhymes, Jay's in character because in all his interviews/book he's different; I've "met" Khaled (lol) & trust that he's a character too, but Ross is fake & won't admit it. Prove to me he's in character then.
jpoodle 1 month ago
@jpoodle So, you think that Ross truly believes his rhymes? Wow. The man's not crazy. He just tries too hard, when it comes to his lyrical persona.
He doesn't know when to quit, and now that everyone knows that he (probably) has no crack connections, he might not see any reason to stop. He has no incentive to confess his "lies," when everyone knows already.
chefshadowfy 1 month ago
@chefshadowfy I don't think he truly believes them, but he tries to make it seem like that. I've heard Nas & Bun B talk (in separate interviews) about how they are different than their rap personas, but Ross makes no separation from his caracter. He knows that we all know hes fake, but he won't come out to it.

Drake did the same thing as far as meaningless bars and genericness goes. bitch
