A bronze whalers we get can be dangerous but no sharks are crazy bitting machines, chances are there has been one around you and you haven't noticed. The biggest worry here in aussie is a bull shark or tiger. Great whites aren't around often but actually have a low encounter to attack ratio so are (apparently) safer to swim with!

ya if people knew that, there would never be any one in the water. sharks rarely attack people. 90% of them are afraid of people. there is only one kind of shark that has been known to consistantly attack people, and it never comes in shallow water

ya and i think there is another besides the great white but it isnt as big and it hasnt been known to kill people, just bite their arm off, or leg, or just bite them and swim away. im not sure what its called but its pretty agressive. it was the one kind that took that one surfer girls arm in hawaii. they say that the only reason they attack people is because they mistake them for something else. thats why they never kill anyone. great white is the only one thats been known to kill

not sure about that shark per every 100 yards comment. i would think the population is pretty hard to analyze in those terms. as far as the hawaii attack...that was a tiger shark. and actually there are three sharks that have been known to attck/injure and several cases kill humans. the three are Bull Sharks (mostly in the Atlantic/Indian Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico) Great Whites (Several hotspots worldwide) and Tiger Sharks (Mostly in the Pacific Ocean.)

who is they? sharks are everywhere there is water. and bull sharks will move into rivers as well. the movie Jaws was based on a bull shark, not a great white.

listen they live in the ocean,we know where they are,so if your dumb enought to go in the water were they are then,,,,,you get what you get,,,dont say they were never there,cause they always were,the ocean is big and they are all conected so they can go where they want,its rare they will be in some areas but put it this way,there was a shark found in montreal lac st louis,ya a ocean shark in a fresh water lack thousands of km,s from any ocean,

i go to new smyrna every summer almost every weekend still alive and havent gotten bit either.
but this past weekend however i did see some fins out there umm idk if they were dolphins or sharks lets just say i didnt stick around to find out either. and i got a nice tan
