Agreed with RanBreaker. And the song is about Israel's march into captivity after the Babylonians torched Jerusalem. As simple as that. It's a song of lament, not joy.
Babylon was a real place and one of the earliest civilizations. Also, Babylon was an enemy to Israel which is likely why it's made out to be synonymous with Hell in the Bible, as many early Christian writers were no more immune to political propaganda than the writers of today.
In other words, just dig the music and shut the Babylon up! Malmsteen rocks and this is a powerful song.
The singer on this album is Goran Edman, which sings in my band Vindictiv. If you like this type of solos, maybe you will like the albums ( Vindictiv and Ground Zero ) Check out Vindictiv on Spotify!
I agree with you totally as far as the content. Yngwie is a very intelligent dude and knows the Bible probably better than either of us. I just appreciate the musicalitaly and I seriously doubt GOD has a problem with that to be real. I was just simply saying it looks bad. I have3 been guilty of my comments at times myself. Let's build up instead of tear down. Smile? :))))
@LIESSUCK69 i totally agree ,like iced earth ,many of Yngwie songs tells a story and doesw not generalize his beleifs , and yes Babylon is lucifers domain, i personally listen to the incredible instrumental parts of yngwie he is my fav guitarist ,to be quite frank Jeff Scott Soto was his only singer ever that was in my opinion descent!!!
Jeff Scott Soto is the most generic, non-distinctive Metal singer I've ever heard. Overuse of falsetto? Check. Thin voice? Check. Artificial vibrato? Check.
He isn't bad, but he's plain bread with a tall glass of room-temperature tap water. Totally generic.
@TrunkMonkey3000 I guess I'll pray for you dude. There are REAL Christians who listen to Yngie. Vivaldi'Bach, Paganini and Dream Theater out here. Judgemental spirits does nonone any good. When you grow up in Christ you will understand. In the mean time I would suggest you not judge henceforth don't kame our Chrisat look bad dude.
@LIESSUCK69 Yeah I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. Although I DID say something mean. It has good music in the song - very good music. And some real talent here. However, the obsession with Babylon is getting to become ridiculous. Lucifer is the King of Babylon ; Isaiah 14 . This song is paying tribute to Lucifer, King of Babylon.
I am in Indonesia. I Like This Song and Picture. Nice Song and Picture. I am Yngwie Malmsteen Fan. I Like All Yngwie Mlalmsteen Songs. I Buy Yngwie Malmsteen Album In Shop In My Country, Indonesia. Very Great Playing Guitar From Yngwie Malmsteen In This Song. I Will Always Listening Yngwie malmsteen Songs In My Room. Forever ! In 1990, I Remember When Yngwie Malmsteen come and concert in Indonesia. I Hope, One Day Yngwie Malmsteen Come and Concert Again In Indonesia. haris.
oh heavy metal... it's one of those genres where you feel that you shouldn't like it, but at the same time, should love the great sound of the music.

This song to me, its the peak of Yngwie's genius, the intro reminds me of Bach's Brandenburg concerts...

There is also a part that appears a few times which sounds like a famous Abba song Money, Money, Money. Listen at 5:26 for example.

I bought the beautiful japanese PCM-CD pressing of "Fire And Ice" from Yamano
Music in Ginza back in '93. Exceptional linear stereo audio quality!! A reference
recording as well. Malmsteen's very best release to date. TEASER is a good song
as well.
