I was watching a program about the polar bear and how their icy world is disappearing, that the sea ice is melting earlier and earlier each year, and the program attributed it to climate change, and that if this rate of change continues, more and more polar bear will drown are starve to death. The "drowning polar bears" is a myth invented by the global warming swindlers to tug at people's heart strings. Polar bears don't "swim", they are able to float with their head above the water and only use their arms and legs to propel themselves forward. Watch any video of a polar swimming and you can clearly see this. A polar bear can float in the water indefinitely without any risk of drowning, regardless of how exhausted it is. Drowning polar bears are actually an extremely rare occurrence.

As much as I feel bad for the bears, global warming is not man caused, there is no proof for it. But it wouldnt hurt to help those bears, but not by cutting fossil fuel burning. That wouldnt have a significant effect on the rate of melting. The earth is going through a warm-up in general after the last ice age. Global warming and cooling has been happening for billions of years. The additional 3% of human CO2 contribution is insignificant.

@craneywatch Polar bears can swim hundreds of miles across open ocean. Every hair on a polar bear is a hollow tube filled with air. They float even when they stop swiming. There front paws have webbed toes, they are marine mammals that live most of thier lives in and around water. The only way to drown one would be to tie an achor around its neck and club it in the head untill you knocked it out. Or you can just claim there drowning and watch all the idiots line up to protest. :)

Those comments are posted online as pdfs with you name, address, email address and yes your phone number. This is the dirty little secret NRDC fails to tell you. @79barkingspider Thanks, I wish I were better on the facts, but I do know how to simply be honest and know how to evaluate simple information. They are losing sea ice and they need that to hunt, and ultimately, that is their habitat, and the ice is disappearing. Yeah, the climate deniers use every trick in the book to lie about polar bear population and other aspects of science.

These scientists did not "corrupt their data", they interpreted it in ways that others found questionable. That's what science IS--submitting facts to falsify hypotheses. The real question for anyone should be, "what role does man have in climate change and what consequences might that have." Then you've earned the right to talk about polar bears.

But I did proofread your comment. Never use three question marks more than once in succession. It's not formal. When you say "capped" you should have said capitalized. "Yeah" is informal for your standards. Sentences that begin with words such as "Where" and "Why" are called questions, and they end with question marks.

But to me, "climate change" is such a relative and general phrase. The climate changes every season of every year. They ("scientists") have never even DEFINED "climate change", so how can we know if it's happening? Just my thought..

@evilportrait The Weatherchannel special last night did a really good job of explaining how much the planet has warmed, what the warming is doing, and they focussed on the extreme disasters/weather that happened the first three months of this year in the US
TWC was pretty clear. They explained it well, which is why I rewound it and DVR'd it. It'll probably rerun. Watch it

You're right, they are excellent swimmers - one has been documented swimming for 9 days straight. The problem is without sea ice they can't catch seals (95% of their diet). If you can't eat sufficient biomass, you die. And although global warming might not be a fact, sea ice loss is. So please no more arguing.

@abake101 I read that, it's devastating. I was watching a program about the polar bear and how their icy world is disappearing, that the sea ice is melting earlier and earlier each year, and the program attributed it to climate change, and that if this rate of change continues, more and more polar bear will drown are starve to death. I really don't see regular people arguing about it, most of the "contrarians" are oil trolls, or sock accounts of the same trolls going around youtube

The "drowning polar bears" is a myth invented by the global warming swindlers to tug at people's heart strings. Polar bears don't "swim", they are able to float with their head above the water and only use their arms and legs to propel themselves forward. Watch any video of a polar swimming and you can clearly see this. A polar bear can float in the water indefinitely without any risk of drowning, regardless of how exhausted it is. Drowning polar bears are actually an extremely rare occurrence.

@danielsen45 Europe does a good job but of course they can do more. As for the US, we emit more co2 per capita than China, so the US needs to get its house in order on this. I say that as an American who wants to see my country do more. China is a problem too, but they also know they have a lot of environmental work to do. So yeah, we need to definitely have our eyes on China as well.
