is it true that they hired john delancie to play the strangler, but that eugene ended up being such a sympathetic/popular character that they changed their minds and made him a good guy? i feel like i read that somewhere...

not sure. i think that maybe the chemistry between him and dee was so great that they might have kept him on. that is totally plausible!
